January has arrived and Ferguson has been busy acquiring new talent. After an inquiry on Ronaldo, Real Madrid refused to sell him for any price. Ferguson then turned to BVB Dortmund. Marco Reus was snagged for 12.5 mil sterling and Kagawa. The next target is Gundogan. Fellaini and Young have asked to leave the club, so hopefully both will go. Had an offer from Fiorentina for Fellaini. low balled me with 6, so i countered with 9 mil. David Alaba has also revealed he wants to leave Bayern as he is "homesick", so United will definitely be making a bid to secure a solid LB for the future.
12.5 mil and Kagawa for Reus? That's highway robbery.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I'm am now in the second season with Chelsea. In first one i finished in 5th right after arsenal wha was always 2nd but lost last match to Norwich city 1-2.
3rd place was spurs and 2nd Liverpool. 1st Man U.
I have sold a lot of players but also bought a lot . My 3 biggest offers:
      1. Reus for 39.500.000 sterling
      2. Van Persie for 31.500.000 sterling
      3. El shaarawy for 27.000.000 (1st season)

As in the last season i started really poorly. I was in 16th place. In the first season i even dropped to last place.

With 2 draws vs Fulham and Cardiff city (both 1-1)
2 losses vs Newcastle (1-2 they scored penalty last min) and 1-2 against Everton.
And 1 win 3-0 against Swansea. I am at 13th place.

Even though I had a really bad start in the premier league i won leyton orient 2-0 in English cup.

And then there was euro league qualifiers against a team i cant remember i lost 1-2 at home. Then in the second game i was up 2-0 when they scored in the 89th min and made it an extra time. Marco reus, van Persie and schürlle scored and it was a big win.

Kagawa was rated at 18.5 mil and was in excellent form at the time. probably rated around 26 mil with his form. Reus was only rated at 42 mil. so in total, i paid 38.5 mil for him. and its in sterling as well, so the rates seem like i paid less for him than i really did.

        UPDATE:

at the end of the season, it is United who took the title! we won 10 points clear of Man City with 96. it was neck and neck until about 4 games left when they took a dive.

a bit bummed to see the table round out in its usual way.

        Man Utd 96
        Man City 86
        Spurs 75
        Chelsea 73
        Arsenal 73
        Liverpool 59
        Swansea 59

        Newcastle disappointed and finished 10th.

Chicharito won the golden boot with 21 goals. glad to see him in form.

I accepted the managing job from Germany. playing the world cup right now. First game was a 5-0 victory over South Korea (). I also have Columbia and Finland in my group so there's no reason i shouldn't advance.

        Here are the other groups:

        Belgium/Argentina/Poland/Egypt*

        Russia/Uruguay/England/Greece

        Italy/Chile/US/Slovenia*

        Brazil/ Portugal/New Zealand/Denmark*

        Netherlands/Czech Republic/Cameroon/Sweden

        France/Wales/Ivory Coast/Mexico*

        Spain/South Africa/Ireland/Australia

        *=Group of death candidates haha

looking forward to the summer window, Rooney has been an absolute disaster for me in the second half of the season. he is unsettled at the club. perhaps will sell him and raise money for Ronaldo. my backup plan is Gotze (favorite player atm). although Gotze is the better buy imo (younger, and has stellar potential. plus won't kill the wage bill), although it would be nice to see Ronaldo in the red again. he may be a pipe dream, but who knows! i'm also looking to find a solid CB who can lead my back 4. I hear Hummels is being linked IRL so i might give him a go. Vidic is getting older and Smalling/Evans are just average at best. Ferdinand has already been cut out of the picture by being sent to the reserve squad for the season (don't plan on playing him unless injuries dictate the need. will probably keep him in reserves until he retires or gets sold, if any offers come for him or he pushes for a move). i'm also in need of a solid keeper for backup. I'm considering Zieler as he is young and has some potential still. (i love signing Germans as you can tell haha). with Zaha/Januzaj performing excellently on the RW, Nani is definitely in contention for his spot next season. He ended up getting injured and missed the last 3 months.

any money i have leftover after the transfer window will go to signing a scout to start building a youth academy. not terribly impressed with United's youth on the reserves. a lot of them hardly reach their potential. I will more than likely be scouting Germany for the next world beater as i manage their team currently and want to make sure he develops internationally as well.

thats all for now! i will update again after the summer window comes to a close!

Well thanks to the person who took a EPL team and demoted them and changed the roster it's so fun. I took Man City and swapped the roster with York City and put them in the EPL while Man City is in league 2. I also created 2 players and put them on my team and I made myself a rule no major talent for the first few years. I spent most of the budget money on getting 5 star scouts for the GTN and youth academy. Doing it this way is so much more fun I get a sweet stadium and kits while still building up. Thanks for the ideas. I'm currently in first in the league with 1 loss I got knocked out of the capital one cup to West Brom in a good game I will update more later

My career modes are getting a bit stale so I may try this also but with my EPL team, Liverpool. As hard as it would be to part with Suarez right from the get go haha

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

My first season with Chelsea and i really need help in finding good players to my squad. Thomas Muller has been a big flop, Rossi only 1 goal in 14 matches! so i really need help to get good players not flop players like rossi and Muller. Two games and then the January window will open.
In summer transfer window i bought that flop called Thomas Muller for 44M€(BIG FLOP), raul garcia 0€ (best signing so far), kurt zouma 6M€ (good but not good enough), Emmanuel Adebayor 5.7M€(few important goals, but still needs to improve), Lucas Andreasen 1.3M€ (good signing), Fredy Guarin 11M€(overpriced and also poor form), Lukas Fabianski 2M€(good back up for Cech), Coentrao 13.5M€, Giuseppe Rossi 20M€ (FLOP!).
I sold Essien 4.9M€, Ba 9.5M€, Mata 70M€ (overprice haha), Eto`o on loan at Lazio, Mikel 5M€.
Chelsea is now 4th in the league, i have been played brilliant againts big teams like ManU and arsenal, but then i have big problems againts smaller teams! When Eden Hazard is not playing i cant get goals, hazard has done most of my goals (16goals so far). Here is my starting XI, so you can also give tips for good starting XI and also help for next transfer window.

              Starting XI:
GK:Cech, RB:Azpilicueta, CBavid Luiz or Cahill, CB:Terry, LB: Cole or Coentrao, CM:Ramires, CM:Lampard or Guarin, RM:Schurrle (i dont want to give Muller playing time anymore!!), CAM: Oscar, LM: HAZAARD!!, ST: Rossi or Torres
subs: Fabianski, ivanovic, guarin, adebayor, andreasen, raul garcia, willian

Most of my players have been poor, so i can get rid of all other players expect lampard, hazard, oscar, terry, cech and schurrle.

I just did this with Liverpool, and have played non-stop this weekend. I got 4 years done, and am now in the PL.

After moving all the players to Shelbourne (Random Team I had used previously), including finding the loaned players and moving them as well, it was time to begin. I took the beginning transfer budget and bought 2 5*5* scouts. The first year, you have no expectations. With the scouts you have, you'll run into a few great players to build your squad with. Going into the 2nd year, I was due for promotion.

In the 2nd year, the prospects I had were dwarfing the competition. By the end of the 2nd year, I had 2 youngsters who were in the mid 70's overall, and 4 more in the Upper 60's range, which is overpowering in League Two. By Year 3, I was in League One, and once again I was asked to get promoted automatically. By that year, the two gems had risen to 81 and 79 overall respectively, and the others were in the Low 70's, again dwarfing the competition.

By Year 4, I was in the Championship, and once again was asked to get promoted automatically. Between a few minor signings (None more than 500k) and my youth squad, I featured an 83 overall CAM, a 77 ovr LM, a 81 ovr RM, and 75 ovr at RW, LW, and Striker. None was older than 20 years old. Promoted automatically again.

Now, over this entire time, the only drawback is that your budget still stays in line with what a squad - in my case, Liverpool - would normally do. So, every year, even while being in the Championship, for instance, I was given 40 million to work with. I don't know if this number has any bearing on where you're supposed to end up in the league or not, but the talent alone sped up the process more than I'd normally like.

In my first year of the PL, I've lifted the reins, and allowed myself to spend. I was given 60 million US to spend, and I bought Lukaku, Papadopalus at CB, and Butland at GK. I now feature 6 players that are 80+ overall, the rest in the mid to upper 70's, and the only ones that are over 20 years old are the new additions, Lukaku and Papadopalus.

So, in summary, it's crazy fun to have the logo, but at the same time, I almost felt rushed in the process. I like to take a few years in the lower leagues to really develop that young talent, then take the PL by storm by Year 7 or 8. I'm actually going to try it again, only instead of a huge name like Liverpool, I'm going to go with Blackpool, almost exclusively because of their Orange kits, and a much smaller budget.

See I like that idea I didn't realize that Manchester City had the biggest budget when I first started I like there uniforms and the stadium but I don't like how much money I have. I think i will start over with a different team maybe in the championship and go to the premier league like you I like to develo youg players

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I'm loving my Monterrey CM but finally decided to do a career mode of the team I support and that is Manchester City; I had been putting it off because I wanted to find the perfect sliders and wanted to try teams I don't know much about with a smaller budget before I did City.

I know my team very well so I had a good idea of what I wanted to do before I even began. I changed the formation from a 4-3-3 to a 4-3-1-2 so that played a factor in the moves I wanted to make in the transfer window.

First thing I wanted to do was sell/trade Joleon Lescott; Kompany is my team captain and best CB in the world in the prime of his career. I wanted a young talented CB to be his understudy and while Lescott is a perfectly capable player, he is also 28-29 years old. I targeted Hector Moreno from RCD Espanyol but they did not want to give him up. I then turned my attention to Jerome Boateng; I worked out a deal that sent Lescott and $14 million to Bayern Munich for Boateng.

I put Pantimilon, the backup GK as well as Edin Dzeko and Javi Garcia on the transfer list. I like Pantimilon but wanted a backup keeper with a little more potential should Hart go down with an injury. I also like Dzeko but he's already 27 and would be my 4th striker at best with Aguero, Negredo and Jovetic ahead of him. And I wanted to give the perpetually loaned John Guidetti a chance to play with the main squad. With Garcia, I didn't have much use for a player who plays CDM and CB and felt he wouldn't get much playing time in the formation I use.

Arsenal really wanted Dzeko and I sold him for $19.5 million (they wouldn't take 20 for some reason). I sold Pantimillon to Stoke City for 2 million and Javi Garcia to a team in Germany for 5 million.

I didn't feel the need to go crazy and buy a bunch of players since I feel the current squad has great chemistry and is world class; but I did want a versatile midfielder to play the RM, CM, LM and possibly CAM. I targeted Ben Arfa and was willing to pay anything for him. I laid down $20 million to Newcastle and made them an offer they couldn't refuse. He agreed to a contract and we welcomed him to the squad. I also wanted a young CAM and signed an unknown player no one has ever signed in CM and his name is Jonathan Dos Santos. Barcelona let him go for $3 million. I also loaned out heaps of young talented players who wouldn't get a lick of playing time so hopefully they develop nicely. I thought I was done with transfers til Guidetti suffered an injury in the second friendly that would leave him out for 2 months. I decided to sign Jurgen Locadia from PSV; I am familiar with him since he is dominating for my Monterrey team. He will serve as my 4th striker and I may just sell Guidetti in the winter transfer window. I got offers for Aguero and Kompany but eventually refused all offers.

The way I have my starting squad set-up is: Gael Clichy at LB, Jerome Boateng and Vincent Kompany as my Center-Backs. Pablo Zabaleta at RB, Fernandino-LCM, Yaya Toure-CM and Samir Nasri at the RCM. David Silva is my CAM and of course Aguero and Negredo are the strikers.

I still have about $90+ million remaining in the transfer budget but will save it for another time. I played the first two premier league matches already; First match I drew against Newcastle 3-3. Second match I won 2-0 at Cardiff City.

I am also in the Champions league and fully expect to make it out of the group stage just like in real life; My squad is fully capable of winning both the domestic cup and Champions League. And I am still going to continue my Monterrey CM for the time being.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

When AVB was sacked, I was inspired to start a new Spurs CM on World Class (6 minutes).

I picked up LB David Alaba in the first season for my biggest transfer, and sold Dawson and Chirches at January transfer for exorbitant fees (for them, that is).

Finished fourth, made it to semis in League Cup, FA Cup and Euro League, so I got a ton of prize money.

Beginning of next season, I had a huge budget, and I sold Soldado to Man U (for 40 million bucks -- he led EPL in scoring last season .... unrealistic, I know) and bought Chicharito to replace him.

I then made some more sales and was able to get Ronaldo from Real Madrid for $125 and Chadli, for an estimated worth of $141 million.

My primary three attackers are Lamela, Chicharito and Ronaldo, with Eriksen, Holtby and Paulinho playing in the middle.

I am killing it. Ten wins, one draw in first 11 EPL games. 28 goals for, 7 against.

Also, I took the Sweden job and beat Ireland 9-1 in a Euro qualifying match, then lost to Portugal four days later, 4-0. Funny game, this Fifa 14.

                            UPDATE ON MAN UTD CM:

GERMANY WIN THE WORLD CUP! In a stunning penalty shoot out win over Italy, the Germans have claimed the world cup!

it was a good game in general. action packed. 2 goals scored in the last 4 minutes of the game.

                            on to the transfers now....

my my have the tables turned in this shocking summer window. Rooney asked to leave the club. He went to Bayern along with 35 mil in exchange for Gotze.

                            IN:

                            Gotze- 35 mil +Rooney
Aguero-29 mil + Welbeck (beat them in the community shield. Aguero submitted a transfer request. jumped on the chance to have another world class striker in my team. surprised they let him join Utd.)

                            OUT:

                            Fabio- QPR for 6.5 mil
Nani- Real Madrid for 11.5 mil
                            Henriquez- Wigan for 2.7 mil
Anderson- Aston Villa for 2.5 mil
                            Cleverly- Newcastle for 4 mil

                            other notable moves:

Negredo to BVB Dortmund for 12.5 mil
Neuer to Barca for 28.5 mil
Lacina Traore to Everton for 17.5 mil
Neymar to Bayern for 65.5 mil
Mirallas to Barca for 10 mil

after playing Man City, i've learned a few things. (take note!)

-Gotze is an absolute monster in the midfield. strong with both feet and makes incredible passes/shots

-Richards and Fernandinho have god mode speed and ball control.

                            -Chicharito sucks at volleys.

-Zaha can tear up the right wing if you let him develop properly.

take those into consideration! may be useful to anyone looking to buy good players.

                            will update soon!
