Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

    Team: Aston Villa
    League: Premier League
    Season: Just started 2015-16

Decided to start a new CM as Aston Villa, hoping to make them into a champions league team.

    Season 1

This season was, mixed at best. We started pretty badly and it took us till about 5 games in to get our first win. We went out of the League Cup quite early on and we ambled on till about Christmas, hovering above the relegation zone. It was really frustrating especially as we were getting inconsistent results. We beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield only to lose at Villa Park 2-0 to Crystal Palace the following week. The F.A cup was similarly disappointing and we bowed out in the third round to Chelsea. Our form improved in the new year and we got to about 11th by March when our season really kicked off. We won 5 games in a row including a 2-1 win at the Etihad to Man City and 1-0 at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. This lead to us finishing a respectable 8th place. Here's the full table:

    1: Man U
    2: Man City
    3: Arsenal
    4: Chelsea
    5: Liverpool
    6: Newcastle
    7: Tottenham
    8: Aston Villa
    9: Everton
    10: Fulham
    11: Cardiff
    12: Stoke City
    13: Sunderland
    14: Crystal Palace
    15: West Brom
    16: Southampton
    17: West Ham
    18: Norwich
    19: Swansea
    20: Hull City

We made literally no signings or sales all season except for

    World Cup

I took the Switzerland job in early January, hoping to achieve great things in the world cup. We drew New Zealand, Austria and Argentina in our group stage. We beat New Zealand 5-0 and Austria 2-0 and in the final game against Argentina we drew 2-2 and qualified top of our group. We went on to face England in the last 16 which ended 0-0 after full time+extra time. We won 3-1 on penalties after a typical english performance (they missed 3 completely). The quarter final match up was against belgium who we overcame 2-1 to progress to the semi's where we sadly lost 1-0 to france.

    Will continue this later.

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I'm having a hard time here. Need some friendly advice.

No matter what I do I can never seem to be happy enough with my career mode, I'm constantly feeling like I'm doing something wrong, and find myself restarting ALL THE TIME.

With that said, I'm starting a new CM with QPR. if anyone has experience with their squad, do you wait for the loaned out players (Remy, Granero, Taarabt, ETC...) to return to the squad prior to buying new players? Or do you proceed as usual and deal with them when they return?

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Made an account to express my frustrations!

I love career mode and it's pretty much the only mode I play but I am annoyed that my board is selling my star players.

I started out as Toronto FC with the target of using my youth academy to make them the dominant team in the MLS and I've done that, despite my board selling a 78 OVR 20 year old LW for 15M to Liverpool, the thing that makes me angry is he is now 21 and 84 OVR, and "has the potential to be special" (90+ OVR potential ARGH).

They also sold my 21 year old 82 OVR RW for 34M to Bayern and I'm sure he'll develop into a superstar.

I have two more players with "the potential to be special" but I really don't want to lose them too

I'd rather not cheat and save and reload when it happens, and while I get it's semi-realistic, I wish there was an option to turn it off.

Overall, I'm having a ton of fun in this game, bringing Toronto from 2 1/2 stars to 4 1/2, but I haven't been able to keep my stars.

The team they have is good enough to get promoted as is. If it was me I'd make small changes but nothing major and use my money on scouts and such. Then re-eval when the loaned players return.

You could also just bring the players back early and make moves accordingly

I know exactly what you mean. I've had that problem several times (with my 1000 career modes I've played and stopped)

Just last week I was playing with Udinese and they sold Muriel to Liverpool for 5mil......5MIL!!!!

I could've sold him for 6 times that amount. It really does frustrate me to no end.

But to summarize, I feel your pain fifa bretheren

If a player wants out, offer him a healthy wage increase and 20% goal bonus. Usually works and the player stays. If that fails and the board hasn't sent you an email saying it's up to you, then SELL him IMMEDIATELY!!

Yeah, I know that, but really I kept a false sense of hope that they wouldn't do that to me AGAIN.

I believe I tried to give him a new contract but he requested a transfer out of the blue and I couldn't resign him after that.

Oh well, let's just hope I can try and keep all my other players!

Off of the top of my head, this is my starting team:

                  ----------------------------------Areola (83)-----------------------
                  Larientowicz (YA product-78)---Dier (84)---Cooper (YA product-78)---Jazic (YA Product-73)

                  Castillo (YA product-78)---Pinto (YA product-80)---Brillante (YA product-77)---Ashe(YA product-73)

                  Clough (79)---Ream(78)/Rossetini(YA product-73)

Would look so much better with Reyes (now 83 OVR 21 years old RW) and Tissot (now 84 OVR 21 years old LW)

                  Oh well

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

                    September 2017 with Palace.

                    My team is
                    GK: Ruddy
reserve: two guys from the youth base

                    CBs: Caulker, Mariappa(C), Lovren
reserve: Ben Nugent, Grand Hanley and some guys from the youth

Fullbacks: in the current formation they are reserves.
                    Wisdom, Martins Indi and Shaw

                    CDM: Nzonzi
                    reserve:Schneiderlin, Nir Biton

                    CMs: Campaña and Gary Gardner(CAM)
                    reserve: Adam

                    Wingers: Lallana and Redmond
reserve: 17 years old with 73 ovrl

                    Strikers: Sanogo and Benteke
reserve: Gayle and Walter. Chamakh scored like 60 goals in 4 season before retiring.

Finished 7th in the 1st and the 2nd year, won the league in the 3rd and 4th. Won the Europa League in the 2nd and 3rd year, and the champions in 4th.

My style of play is like Stoke IRL.

And Man City seems to buy everyone.
They have Neymar, Bale, Ozil, Hummels, Sirigu, Wilshere and Cazorla, in addition to big part of their current team and finished behnid Norwich last year

The relegation-promotion system is way better than in FIFA 13, where it seemed that the three promoted sides would always be relegated.

honestly, football is really a business to the boards and owners. Small clubs around the world are a supply to big clubs, and thats how most of the small clubs stay a float and stay at the top of their respective leagues. The board sees 21 years old they paid pennies for and now they can sell him for 15 million? if you were the owner you would do the same thing lol...

i would try, mayne not scouting so many players, they might value your prospects a lil more & the scouting on the game is a lil easy... heard a few differnt players recommend not calling up anymore then 2 players a year.

Yeah definitely understand what you mean.

I like the idea of limiting the amount of players I scout.

Also, the player they sold for 15M is now worth 85M.

                        Just sayin'

Thats how I think I'm guna play it out. The only thing I dislike is how quickly players deteriorate once they hit 30+ which, unfortunately, is a good percentage of the team.

But, to your point, the guys that they have in the squad are good enough to get the job done for that first season.

Hey guys, I just bought FIFA 14 a few days ago. But the only problem is I have never really payed much attention to soccer. I've been trying to do career modes, but I just don't know enough about the sport to play how I do in basketball, baseball, and football. Just wondering what you guys would think a good team to start my very first career mode with would be. I'm open to any suggestion if anybody is willing to give one!

Probably a big club with lots of money. Think Manchester City (BPL), Real Madrid (La Liga), Barcelona (La Liga), Chelsea (BPL), among other giant clubs. You'll get to know their players and will get to know the stars of world football. Then you can try and extend your knowledge.

I'm personally a Liverpool supporter, with that said, one of the best teams as a beginner to play with is Arsenal. Hands down. They have just about everything someone new to the game is looking for.

Theyy have good players in key positions where you can learn how to play and what style/system suits you best. They also have weak enough players in other positions (Giroud) where you can learn how to make transfers and play with the market.
