you're so lucky to have someone who's gonna come in at 70+. At 16 he'll arguably be one of the best GK's in League 1. I had to promote Derbyshire at 60 OVR because my best GK was 52 OVR. I'm jealous.

Wait, I'm confused. I did understand your sarcasm in the "we died to know the numbers"-comment but what sarcasm are we talking about now? It's late here in Europe and that's probably why I don't get things.

              The Porto Journal, January report

Porto breaks the transfer market and continues leading the league

FC Porto has sold in the winter transfer window its two main centre forwards, Jackson Martínez, who arrives at Bayern Munchen for 18,5 mill. €, and Nabil Ghilas, who is new SL Benfica player, for the same amount of money. The surprise arrived when the "Dragoes" announced the signings of two substitutes for them, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ciro Immobile. Ibrahimovic arrives at Porto for 23 mill. €, and the Italian Immobile arrives from Torino for an amount of 10 mill. €. This could be the first signal of a change in Porto's policy, as Feito said: "We have great young talents, but we need some contrasted stars if we want to dominate in Portugal, and in addition, we want to be one of the main favourites in Europe, and reach the level of clubs such as Bayern, Barcelona or Juventus. So, we need to improve our squad a bit with experienced and first category players, and guys like Zlatan are needed for that." Spanish manager told days before that no movements were needed but according to him now: "We didn't expected any movement, but the good offers for Jackson and Nabil change everything, and as I said, we looked for players who can put the team into another level, and here they're."

              Porto's winter transfer market

OUT: Jackson Martínez - 18,500,000 € to FC Bayern Munchen
OUT: Nabil Ghilas - 18,500,000 € to SL Benfica
OUT: Cristian Atsu - 5,000,000 € to Tottenham Hotspur
OUT: Walker - 5,000,000 € to Girondins Bordeaux
OUT: Kleber - on loan to Celta Vigo
OUT: Lucho González - precontract with Manchester City for 2015/16
              IN: Zlatan Ibrahimovic - 23,000,000 € from Paris Saint-Germain
IN: Ciro Immobile - 10,000,000 € from Torino

On the other hand, FC Porto continues leading the Liga ZON Sagres, winning the last three games, but with Sporting and Benfica still close. The Portuguese League is now a game between the "best three".

              FC Porto January results

              Liga ZON Sagres #14
              SC Olhanense 1-2 FC Porto

              FC Porto 2-1 Os Belenenses
              Ibarbo 22', Licá 43' - Diakité 87'

              Liga ZON Sagres #16

              Lehmann 45' - Ibarbo 5' 69', Danilo 60', Ibrahimovic 67', Otamendi 84'

How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

                It Only Took 14 Years

AFC Wimbledon have officially began their first ever season in the Barclay's Premier League since their founding in 2002. Chavez has maintained the club's culture and the club is still 100% owned by the fans, who founded the club. Wimbledon is considered to be relegation candidates this season with many news headlines reading "Chavez Is In Over His Head" and "This Isn't League 2", resulting from the fact that Chavez has refused to make any new signings and kept only UK players, most of which have been with the club since League 2 and some even before that. Will Chavez be able to prove them wrong after a great preseason? We shall see...

                August 2016

                AFC Wimbledon 1 - 4 Tottenham
                TOT: Paulinho 15' Townsend 21' Kane 35' Adebayor 52'
                WIM: James 65'
The match was expected to be Wimbledon's revenge after losing the FA Cup finals to Spurs in the last game of last season, but Spurs dropped the Dons back to reality. Wimbledon striker James Hanson failed to impress in his first start with the main starting 11, and was subbed off at minute 60 for young Luke James, who immediately made an impact by scoring Wimbledon's first premier league goal. Wimbledon played a great match against Spurs last season with a 4-1-4-1 formation, but they were completely dominated in this new 3-5-2 formation. This score line is a surprise for us, but not for the rest of the BPL who are certain Wimbledon will be relegated.

                Southampton 1 - 1 AFC Wimbledon
                WIM: Gornell 25'
                SOU: Isgrove 57'
Wimbledon really needed a win after a terrible defeat to Tottenham and it looked like the club star and new #10 Terry Gornell would be able to give it to them, but Southampton went all out in the second half and tied the match. Wimbledon were able to escape with 1 point, but Southampton were very close to winning the match in several occasions. Young Luke James came in as a sub again and had the match winner in the 85th minute, but wasn't able to strike for goal. Gornell put in a beautiful cross that found James wide open against an open goal, but James wasn't able to make up his mind on how he would shoot. The ball hit him in the chest and the keeper dove to pick it up while James just stood there not knowing what had happened.

                AFC Wimbledon 2 - 1 Fulham
                WIM: Gornell 39' Hanson 82'
                FUL: Kasami 85'
The two newly promoted clubs, one in a European qualifying spot while the other in 2nd place of the relegation table. Fulham outshot Wimbledon the entire match but Wimbledon held possession and often forced Fulham to shoot from outside of the box. Ross Worner played an outstanding match but wasn't able to reach Kasami's shot from outside of the box in the final minutes of the match. Regardless, Wimbledon were awarded their first 3 points of the season and were finally able to escape the relegation zone. It was rumored that this was Hanson's last chance to impress Chavez and he responded by netting the 2nd goal in the final 10 minutes. Luke James will have to continue to push for a starting spot.

                BPL League Table
                1. Manchester United - 9 points
                2. Arsenal - 9 points
                3. Chelsea - 7 points
                4. Liverpool - 6 points
                5. Norwich City - 6 points
                -----
                12. AFC Wimbledon - 4 points
                -----
                18. Southampton - 1 point
                19. QPR - 1 point
                20. Stoke City - 1 point

                Transfer Window

                Departures:
                • Kyle Shelvey (64) - Season loan to Carlisle United
                • Seb Brown (60) - Permanent transfer to St. Johnstone FC
                • Tom Richards (66) - Season loan to Rotherham United
                • Tarik Çamdal (69) - Permanent transfer to Blackburn Rovers
                • Kevin Sainte-Luce (63) - Permanent transfer to Coventry City

                Arrivals:
                • Luke Freeman (69) - Contract Expiry signing from Stevenage last January

                Press Conference

Good evening Mr. Chavez, just a few questions for HYFCMG this time. Many consider that the 3-5-2 is not a formation for the Premier League. Have you considered going back to the 4-1-4-1 that brought you so much success last season?

"No. It's still early in the season and the players and staff are really happy with the new formation. In League 1 we used a 5-4-1 which also brought us much success and in fact is what qualified us to our first ever Europa League. The formation is here to stay."

Speaking of the Europa League, the competition begins next month where you will face Olympiakos in the first group stage match. The Capital One Cup also begins next month where you'll be facing Colchester. In your career you've won 2 of 3 League Titles but haven't been able to win a cup competition - reaching the FA Cup and Capital One Cup finals and the Europa League semifinals. Will you be shooting for your first cup championship to end that statistic?

"As much as I'd like to, I'm afraid this year we really need to focus on the league which will put us to the test the whole season."

You chose not to make any signings this transfer window but sold Çamdal, one of your best players, you allowed Shelvey and Richards to go out on loan, and also sold club hero Seb Brown. Will these decisions come back to bite you next month for example where you will be facing Manchester United who just signed Edinson Cavani from PSG?

"The signings that had to be con were made last season. We have a solid squad who have proved people wrong time and time again. Kyle Shelvey wanted playing time that we couldn't give him so we loaned him out to a team who would. Tom Richards, as you know, was very problematic last season and was very close to breaking apart our dressing room so we felt that some time back in League 1 would do him best and hopefully it'll help him remember what he's playing for. It was very difficult to see Seb Brown leave, but he told us he needed a change in his career. He's done his time in the Football League already and it wouldn't be fair to send him back. The Scotland Premier League will be great for him."

"Oh, and congratulations to United for the Cavani deal. I know Cavani was desperate to leave PSG as they failed to qualify for Europe again. You see, we don't have those type of players. Our players are loyal and are here for the fans, not for their own self benefit. That is why Richards needed a loan away from the club."

Last question, James Hanson. The player has been disappointing up front so far this season while Luke James has been showing great stuff. Hanson struggled at the beginning of last season as well. Will there be a change in the lineup going into the next match against Sunderland?

"No. It is still early in the season and Hanson has proved that he can be very dangerous in front of goal. Last season he did struggle but when he found his form he was unstoppable. We know he can do it, so we'll just have to work with him and he'll be back to his scoring ways in no time."

Thanks for reading! I'll be posting a squad report soon but first, I need to get back to playing before the lady gets off work!

I know right! I promoted Cowie at 59 overall and he's the future of Scotland! Literally, Scotland have no goalkeepers. My top 3 are 31, 34, and 34 years old. No kidding, I saw the first score and I was like "oh, DAMN. Welcome to the BPL." I'm really curious to see how you will fare with your roster (which I don't think you ever posted for us by the way). I think your answer about focusing on the league more than the cups this season is spot on.

I'm definitely going to have to give him a 5 year contract coming out of the academy because his first raise request will probably be A LOT more than I will have available.

This reminds me of something. So at Alcorcon obviously I have A LOT of players out of the YA. Some of them lately have asked for a raise but more often than not when I go offer a new contract they're asking for a 1-year deal. I always offer a 3-year deal with the money they want and then they deny the offer stating they weren't offered the length they requested and that they will hold off on negotiating at this time. They never follow up and the issue just disappears. Does this happen to anyone else or how do you guys deal with that stuff?

How many years are left on their contract?

Say they have 3 years left and ask for a raise, and you offer a 3 year deal, it will always be rejected. The game won't allow you to have a player under contract for longer than 5 years into the future at any given time. I had a player once who was already at the 5 year contract and he asked for a raise and the same thing happened. I offered him 1 but the system wouldn't allow it due to the 5 year rule, and he just shut up until next season.

That's an interesting point I've never considered. I see how it goes next time. I feel dirty having all these players over 70 OVR only making $500. It's unrealistic too.

Thank you everyone for explaining all these rules for me!

I'm really curious to see how you will fare with your roster (which I don't think you ever posted for us by the way). I think your answer about focusing on the league more than the cups this season is spot on.

That whole match all I was thinking was "Man the guys are gonna give me hell for this" in fact, in the Fulham match I was dying for the ref to end it, not because I needed the 3 points to get away from relegation, but because I knew that if I finished the month with 2 draws and 1 defeat I'd be seeing nothing but "I told you so" posts on here hahaha
