Establishing himself as manager Pepe Gálvez's top-choice striker over the past 2 months, André Silva has continued to score goals in his fine run of form that sees the 20-year-old, who is on loan from FC Porto, earn his first Player of the Month honor. Manager's Thoughts
Easily our worst month of the season, and we still managed a 2-2-0 record with 0 goals conceded. I think we've been worn down by the grind of the past couple of months in the Copa del Rey, but with the Final coming up next month, we need to find some consistent form.

This month is all about the Copa del Rey Final on April 13 against Sevilla FC. We will be resting players against Mirandés and Elche before that match as our league position is secure. Our club has one previous Copa title from 2003, and we would love to add silverware to the trophy case. Sevilla won't be easy as Yevhen Konoplyanka and Ciro Immobile have been dominating the competition, but I still feel our side will get the desired result.

The Everton story - A not so Goodison year

With the season coming to an end and Leicester being crowned champions, many people believe that the 2015/16 season of the Premier League, was one of the more intriguing ones, with different storylines to follow, plenty of games to watch and of course, an insane amount of goals to see.

As teams like Leicester, Tottenham and West Ham made improvements and shocked everybody, there was also a team, who, a few years ago, was destined for big things, and has seem to be gone spirling downwards.

They say that there is a picture to sum up the season of every team. As for Everton?

Yes, the rollercoaster that was Everton last year has ended, but it has still left a lot of questions in the air. A team, that was making a push into the top 4 position just a few years ago, has suddenly finished one spot below Chelsea. That sentence might have meant something positive last year, but this year - 11th is their spot.

The whole season was a mixture of good and bad; you could see them playing fantastic football away from home, yet at Goodison, the team would crumble under pressure. Martinez was questioned and as you have read the newspapers recently, sacked, and the players were not supported by the fans.

So, this leaves the question - what on earth is going to happen this season?

Everton have secured a new owner, who has promised to give it "all the dollar it needs" to bring them back to the top. While that sounded exciting at first, everything since then has been full of rumors about players wanting to leave. Stones, Lukaku and Barkley have all been spotted at different grounds in Europe, while Coleman apparently has stated that it is time to move on, according to the media.

On top of that, their new coach is the unsuccessful, yet talented, Anthony Cruzerr - a man familiar with good football, yet no experience with successful tenures. The man has brought short success to clubs like Manchester City, Bilbao and Arsenal, yet has disappeared quickly after the first season. Many fans believe that he has what it takes, but do not know if he is up for it.

While Everton are currently preparing for their pre-season tournament in Portugal, a simple question for this season is: How on earth is this suppose to improve?

Iñigo Lekue, LB, 72 Ovr, Season-long loan to UD Almeria

With Jon Aurtenetxe re-joining the club after a loan spell, it was last season's back-up left back Iñigo Lekue who had to leave the for a year's loan this time. Aurtenetxe is a tiny bit better than Lekue which is the only reason why the latter is spending this season out on loan.

Unai Bustinza, RB, 70 Ovr, €1,300,000 to Tenerife

The 24-year-old right back had no future at the club due to a low potential and the best decision for both him and the club was to sell him. Tenerife were willing to match his market value and the deal was signed.

Kike Sola, ST, 71 Ovr, €1,500,000 to Real Zaragoza

Aritz Aduriz, Asier Villalibre, Borja Viguera and Guillermo are the reasons behind Kike Sola getting sold. The 30-year-old striker didn't have anything to offer the team up front and he was never going to play more than a game or two for us.

Gorka Elustondo, CB, 75 Ovr, €3,100,000 to Granada CF

Another departure who was sold for the simple reason of not being good enough to feature in many games. Elustondo has still got a few years left in him and we hope that he does well at Granada.

Andoni Iraola

Many of the La Liga followers are very familiar with the Basque defender Andoni Iraola: the 34-year-old joined Athletic Club's youth setup in the year 1999 and worked his way into the starting eleven of the senior side. From there Iraola went to appear in over 500 matches for Athletic but unfortunately the fan favourite decided to leave the team and join the American New York City FC in the summer of 2015. Now, a year later, the experienced defender has joined Bilbao again. The supporters will certainly be happy to have the red-and-white-bleeding Iraola back at the club for at least two more seasons.

One issue Athletic Bilbao had towards the end of last season was their defence and that issue wasn't getting any better with the captain Carlos Gurpegi getting older and with the departure of Gorka Elustondo. Out of the few Champions League quality centre backs Athletic decided to sign arguably the best one: Iñigo Martinez from Basque rivals Real Sociedad. The 25-year-old Spaniard also became the most expensive signing the Basque club has ever made and, consequently, he will face a lot of pressure to match centre back partner Aymeric Laporte's world class performances.

My Thoughts

We played a pre-season tournament and won it with only conceding one goal. Yay.

The competitive season started brilliantly as we beat Barcelona in the Spanish supercup for the second time in a row and after that we earned routine three points against Las Palmas. It is still early to judge but I'm certain that we will finish in the top three and probably even challenge for title, although I'd rather not win in quite yet. Furthermore, it will be interesting to compete in the Champions League. At least our group is relatively easy and I can't see us not getting through to the knock-out stages.

Transfer-wise we didn't have the busiest of summers as we didn't receive too many bids for important players. We just got rid of some deadwood. As far as signings go, Iñigo Martinez, was the obvious choice as, apart from Javi Martinez and Aymeric Laporte, he is the only quality Basque centre back there is. Iraola on the other hand was signed back because, honestly, I just felt like it. I wanted to sign a club legend back, have him lift a couple of trophies and finish his career at the club he loves.

Not the hardest possible group but I'm expecting everyone apart from Italy to fight for the other qualifying spot. It won't be easy as all the teams are quite even but at least I get to beat Keano's Ireland twice :P

We started strong when Armstrong broke through and had a cool finish to the back post. Just before the half hour mark our usually solid defense got disorganized and that resulted in the home team getting a clear shot on goal that Krul had no chance of saving. Drost scored the winner when a very poor clearance fell to him at the top of the box and be smashed it upper ninety.

Correa eighteen minutes in after Townsend won the ball off the last defender and squared the ball across to him and finished first time. The second goal came in the second half when he was played in behind and just finessed to the back post.

An draw, but an exciting one several surprises. Not much happened until the 45’ when Correa’s shot was deflected by a defender into the net. Everyone was sure we would go into halftime up a goal but Danny Ings had different plans. Straight from kickoff he ran through everyone leaving defenders tripping over themselves and finished coolly to the bottom corner. We controlled the second half but it was Liverpool who went ahead in the dying minutes through Coutinho who scored an easy tap in after Ings’ shot was deflected off the post. We weren’t ready to record our first league loss of the season though and Sanches was able to play Wijnaldum through on goal and he had an easy finish 1v1 with the keeper.

MOTM Sissoko

Ideye opened the scoring when Janmaat made a bad back pass that resulted in the striker 1v1 with Krul and you always fancy the striker in that position. The Second goal Krul came out to collect a cross but got nowhere near it. With the goalkeeper stuck in no man's land Pardo just lofted the header over him and into the goal. We weren’t giving up though and we pulled one back through Adam Armstrong. Sissoko, making his first appearance this season was just subbed in, ran down the line and drilled a cross on the ground and Armstrong finished with one touch. Cabella scored a nearly identical goal to tie the game but sadly it doesn’t look like we will be advancing past the group stage in the European Cup. We need Olympiakos to win and us to us and I just don’t see that happening.

MOTM Courtois

The Belgian showed why he is considered one of the best young keepers in the modern game. We had numerous chances we should have scored and I’m disappointed to miss out on two points.

For many people, the lower leagues are a pathway to the big time, but only for players. Even then few make it like Jamie Vardy has done, (the whole Leicester story is incredible, a team of rejects and lower league players that proved everyone wrong.) and end up falling out of love with the sport before fading into the background, careers ended before the event properly began.

The story here is a little bit different however, it's not a player that's attempting a much failed journey, it's a young, ambitious manager in the form of James Keane. The ship for his maiden voyage? Accrington Stanley, branded by many as the worst team in League Two. The journey starts here...

The first area that needed strengthening was the fullbacks. There was only two natural fullbacks in the squad and both only have 50-60s pace. Henry is a physical specimen, incredible pace and stamina. His technical stats will only improve along the way as well. Kelly-Evans also possesses good speed but his stamina and technical stats will have to be trained up. Sowunmi is an absolute monster, standing at 6'6" and with 90 strength, all at just 19 years of age. He's not slow across the ground either which is a plus. He had only just joined Yeovil so a permanent deal was out of the question but a two year loan suits us perfectly. Adelakun was brought in on deadline day because we were a little light on wingers.

New signing Rico Henry made his debut for the club and contributed an assist to level the game after Taggart's opener for the Londoners. Agonisingly Morgan missed a penalty in extra time that would have caused a massive upset and put us through into the next round. It was settled on penalties and while Mooney saved a spot kick right into the bottom right, Coneely unfortunately saw his attempt smash off the crossbar.

Two goals in the last 20 minutes saw us leave the Daggers with all three points. McCartan tucked away his chance when it came and winger McConville sealed the victory after cutting in and curling into the net.

Windass opened the scoring early on against newly relegated Leyton Orient. The midfielder controlled a corner and then volleyed the ball past the helpless keeper. As Orient pressed for an equalizer we were able to break and substitute Jack Phillips drilled his shot home for a big win. Sowunmi's back pass did cause some confusion and Mooney failed to clear the ball adequately, allowing the home side to pull a goal back.

Keano, cool choice with Accrington. I remember it came down to them or Newport for me but Newport's kits and Medy Elito tipped the scales for me. Strong start, almost too good for my liking lol. Solid potentials in all of your acquisitions especially Henry, really good job there.

Yanks, a bit disappointed to see you in the brink of elimination in the Euro. I truly believe you have the squad to get past that stage and it's a bit out of your hands at this point. On the other hand, you're doing very well in the BPL so at least you have that going for you. I hope somehow you can finish second in your Euro group though so I'll be rooting for both you and Olympiakos to win by big margins.

Simp, selling Elustondo shocked me a bit because good depth at CB is never a bad thing but then I realized you still have a strong crop of CB's on the roster. Obviously that's aided by the acquisition of Martinez which was brilliant. As I said before I look forward to the anger-bang from you on the rest of Spain and Europe this season. It should be MCFC and you coming out of that CL group.

10, that crop of players promoted from the academy at the end of the year is absurd. They would all be welcomed at Newport and I'm sure Keano at Accrington would love to loan them all from you lol. Congrats on your third BPL title in a row, you've turn this CM into Leicester on steroids. You didn't need to put 7 on Derby County though, that was messed up lol. Congrats on the trebble really, just an awesome job all around.

Cruzerr, I dig the Everton CM, especially since Aqua left us hanging :-(

SMH, not much to say about Mallorca other than I look forward to the next update to see if you were able to win the Copa del Rey. Would be interesting to see you go into La Liga with the added pressure of playing in Europe League.

Moose, I remember asking you in the past about Dybala and how he might react to scoring less with Lacazette's arrival and that's exactly what's happened, Dybala went from being your start in the first half of the season to being behind the shadows of the French striker in the second half. That's gotta be a storyline. I can't see Dybala hanging on to the scoring title at this rate and it's not easy to see that happen because he did absolutely nothing to lose that #9 role.

Fair play! I think you're definitely right in that, while I said Dybala is more suited to the No. 10 role and that's more like what he plays IRL at Juventus, the way in which he had his role usurped by Lacazette was definitely controversial and I will work something up about it!

My thoughts

Successful Start - While there are plenty of youngster that I will send on loan, and quite a few spots to fill, I honestly have a feeling that this squad is not too bad. The starters did not get plenty of minutes, and Lukaku, Barkley and Baines came in late from the Euros, so the role players looked fantastic. McGeady and Gibson looked good, while Ledson and Walsh also impressed me. Galloway and Browning were pretty good in defense aswell. Can't also forget Niasse at the strikers position, a great back-up to Romelu.

Transfers? - Yes, there are a few positions that I want to improve. A new goalkeeper would be nice, and I am still thinking of back-ups to both center-back and midfield positions. If you have any good suggestions, please tell me!

Next post - The next time we shall meet, I will leave you with our results from August and September, then wrap up the transfer season. It will feature back-to-back games against Manchester United and Arsenal, a match against newly promoted, Middlesborough, and a game at home against Chelsea.

Cabee - You literally cleaned up! Damn! So many titles, and Cristiano Ronaldo in your team. Kinda makes you wonder how long your story has been! Also, the fact that Ronaldo is not in the TOTS, is just wrong.

Simppu - Considering how you finished last season (hah, Neverkusen!), I am sure you are after revenge. The signing of Martinez makes that defense look scary, so I am excited to see how this season goes!

TheYanks - Olympiakos will win! You just need to destroy Austria completely! It seemed like you had tough games, Liverpool and Chelsea are no jokes.

ok I'm not crazy then. You have options to keep him happy in 442 classic or diamond, I don't see you going away from 2 CDM's so a classic look might be the way to go. Another thing I'm noticing is Payet doesn't seem to be regular in the lineup which is shocking to me, is he nursing an injury or something?

in a 442 classic your midfield from right to left could be Tello/Goretzka/Noble/Payet

in a diamond it'd be something like

Goretzka

Tello ------------ Carrillo

Payet

it could be Antonio instead of Carrillo and with a single CDM I'd start Goretzka so you can sub in Noble for 20 minutes or so.

FYI the Newport updates are gonna come a bit more often than the Kayserispor ones for the simple fact that Kayserispor's will include multiple months while Newport is month-to-month. I'm equally active in both of them (actually further along in Turkey than in England).
