Oh man, it's hard to say if it's been a difference for me or just that I took that time off and then came back but I've found it harder to score for sure. I can win possession easily each match but I find it tough to get quality shots off. But I plan to start heavily shifting the team to the style I want starting in January transfer window so that I can change things up and really put my personality into the team. So far I've just been using what was available and working with it. I think I will do a big write up once January comes and then start to get more content involved into my updates since I know I'm back into it now. I'll post a whole tactical thing about what I'm doing now and what I want to shift to later this week hopefully.

Simppu Merino looks like a promising defensive mid but obviously needs time to develop, and really glad you grabbed Azpilicueta. A 10-point cushion in the league on Real and Barca is excellent.

JHedges A solid month as you got results in the EPL against Villa and Norwich while also grabbing wins in Europe and the Capital One Cup. I think your league position will continue to rise after a slow start.

vrabbit Really crushed Southend in the J.Paint. Notts County in the final down the road looks very winnable. Nice hat trick by Ambrose against Chesterfield. Suzuki also looks like he could turn into a contributing player.

Cruzerr 4th finish and not conceding a single goal between April and May, congrats! Lukaku and Karius with some well-deserved recognition. Looking forward to your venture into European competition.

Amkar Perm have announced the hiring of Zenit-2 St. Petersburg player/coach and Perm native, Konstantin Zyryanov, as the new manager of the Red and Blacks. Zyryanov spent the early part of his career with Amkar between 1994-2000 and helped get the Ural region side from the 3rd tier of Russian football to the 2nd tier in 1998 before moving onto Torpedo Moscow and then league-giants Zenit Saint Peterburg. At 37-years-old, Zyryanov has an impressive resume as a 3-time Russian Premier League champion, Russian Footballer of the Year in 2007, and he was on the UEFA Euro 2008 Team of the Tournament. BLUE SIGNS NEW THREE-YEAR DEAL

Sunderland yesterday announced that Indi Blue has agreed a three-year contract to remain in charge of the club. As well as a significant bump up in pay, the deal is understood to include a promotion from first team coach to manager, with full control of transfers in and out of the club. Though as yet to be confirmed, it is believed the contract also contains a break clause in the event of an approach for Blue from Chelsea, Barcelona or AC Milan.

"The last three years have been a roller coaster ride. Sunderland is now a huge part of who I am, especially after last season's successful title win. I don't think there was any other outcome. Knowing that I'm here for the long term is wonderful for me and the club, personally and professionally. I look forward very much to building on the success of the past three years."

NEVER FELT MORE AT HOME: SNEIJDER

If there is one player who encapsulates the magic of the last three years at Sunderland, Wesley Sneijder is the obvious choice. The Dutch midfielder was one of Indi Blue's first signings, joining the Black Cats in January 2016 for £17.5 million and spending the next two and a half seasons helping the club work towards its first ever Premier League crown, with more than 30 goals and nearly 50 assists to his name in that time.

Sneijder's love for Sunderland was cemented towards the end of that first season, when he sustained an ACL tear with just a few games to go. It was the second such injury of his career, and at the age of 31 many had their doubts as to whether the 2010 World Cup hero would ever get back to his best form. Sunderland and Blue were not ever among them.

"It was horrible. I could feel the ligament pop when I fell down. Right away you know what's happening. We went in for some scans and the doctors said it was an ACL tear, that I might not be able to play at the same level and if I did, I should be prepared to get injured again in the same way," Sneijder recounts. "That was when the manager phoned me and told me not to worry about the future, only to get better. The club supported me in every way. They brought in a specialist in ACL recovery from the USA just to help me with my rehabilitation. I knew I was in a special place because you never got that with Galatasary, Inter or Ajax."

Sneijder stresses that he has nothing but affection for all his former employers, even Real Madrid whose approach to player management he describes as "cold but not uncaring", but that Sunderland takes the cake as far as support goes. "Starting with the fans and all the way to the people who prepare breakfast and lunch for us every day. It's amazing how much people want us to do well and give us anything we need to be at our best."

Does he think he gets special treatment because of who he is? "I didn't think so at first. But you see a little bit here and there in training, in the cafeteria. Everyone does those small things. You stay out late once in a while, or you have a couple of drinks and come in 100 grams overweight. The lads all get the usual fine and stuff. Will (Buckley) and I, the manager just tells us not to do it again and that's it! I wish I could get away with things like that at home," he tells us, chuckling and gesturing to the woman at his side.

Sneijder and his wife Yolanthe have been wedded for nearly eight years, their marriage compared to those of the Beckhams and the Tottis for its longevity and unconditional support. And it's his personal life off the field that is most helping Sneijder excel on it. "I wouldn't be where I am without her," he says. "She always knows what to say, whether I need that love and support or a kick in the backside. Yolanthe will tell me a lot of the things the lads and the coaches won't. And life out here has been great for us both. The countryside is amazing. We have those classic rolling hills in our own backyard. We've both mellowed down in the last five years, so it's the ideal setting for us and for my son. He loves England but he's started supporting Newcastle!"

So long as he keeps delivering on the pitch, there's no doubt Sunderland fans will forgive their world-class superstar for such a grave transgression.

Subs: Tom Nichols, Jake Sinclair, Matthew Grimes, Saúl, Sam Byram, Shkodran Mustafi, Christy Pym

Here it is; my favourite Exeter City eleven throughout the nine seasons I’ve been there! This is not based on overall or supposed to be a good team all-round but these are the players who made the greatest impressions on me over the years:

Michael Terzi: I managed to get Michael for free at the start of the 18/19 season when he did not have a club. He had an overall of around 71 if I remember correctly and he has improved significantly over the years. He has saved us in some crucial games and I’d back him for being one of the best keepers in the world at the moment. He will definitely be a serious transfer target once I move to my new club.

DeAndre Yedlin: I’ve only had him for a couple of years but he really has been a star on the right, especially last season. Although I admit, I haven’t had many full-backs that stand out but Yedlin is definitely my best performer. Good luck to him at Southampton who managed to pick him up for free.

Ryan Inniss: Oh Ryan, I bought you from Crystal Palace for something ridiculous like £70k in the first two or three seasons and what a signing he has been. His height has really helped us out in the years of service he has provided for us. Whenever the opposition goalkeeper booted the ball up-field, he’d be there just to head the ball back down into the feet of our midfield and he was so consistent about it too. He even had a brief spell up front for us at times and scored some goals. He will definitely be on my shortlist as a potential signing for my new team.

Lucas Magallán: I’m having difficulties remembering when I purchased Lucas but I would guess it was in the 19/20 season and has been one of the most regular starters for us since. Even now, he is young and still has a lot to learn. Here’s a future world-class defender here if he isn’t already.

Conor Compton: I know, I know, Compton’s never played at left back for me but we’ve not really had a prominent left back and Compton is left footed so why not? The man, the myth, the legend was taken from the youth academy for us at the start of the 19/20 season and instantly burst onto the scene as a RAM to play the role of pacey inside winger with a wicked left foot. He’s consistently won the young player of the year (although he’s currently tied with Jean-Paul Hiariej this season in the strawpoll) and has just been on fire. He could definitely be another target when I move.

Liam Secombe: Longest serving player under my management. He stayed with me from league 2 all the way to the Premier League for a couple of seasons and still played a decent chunk of games until he left around the 20/21 season if I remember correctly. He’s a hero to everyone associated with the club and I really hope he is still doing great at Bolton.

Matt Oakley: He was very old, sure, he was very slow, sure but I still fell in love with him as my lone defensive midfielder in the 4-1-3-2 that I used to play in the earlier football league seasons. He provided experience to the team and a cool head which was far from prone to mistakes. Always consistent and always level-headed; he definitely makes it as the role as a third defender in this squad. After being my assistant manager for years, I have requested that the Exeter City give him a trial run as their new manager and I really hope it works out for him in that role.

Adrián Saiz Alonso: All I remember is that I got Saiz Alonso long ago as a free agent. He always appealed to me with his high/high work rate coupled with his exquisite dribbling and speediness. He has been a loyal player for the club and always set an example to the other players whenever he’s on the pitch. He could be one that I’ll look to sign next season.

Kwabena Appiah: An outstanding player; simply outstanding. I don’t have the stats but I believe that either Appiah or Jake Sinclair have scored the most goals for us within my time as manager. Other possibilities for top goalscorer under my management could be Albian Ajeti and Yaya Sanogo but I believe Appiah has out-scored all of them. I remember the days a played the 5-4-1 where Appiah scored a ton of goals as the lone striker. Good luck to him and I hope he has a great time in retirement. Cristiano Ronaldo: When I bought this guy when he was 35 (or 36) for something ridiculous like £12m I was over the moon! I didn’t actually expect him to still be one of the best players in the world but he still is. Two golden boot awards in two years running is mind-blowing. Playing mainly as a forward to the left, he really has become a major player for us. His free-kicks are exquisite too! I’ll never forget his rabona free-kick he scored against Derby.

Yaya Sanogo: This guy was absolutely dominant. He schooled my defence in the Manchester City match earlier this year to prove to me that he’s still got it. He’d get onto any cross into the box but could also dribble with the ball and pick out a pass. I think he broke the record for the most goals scored in a season under my management with 39 in a single season and I reckon he still has it.

The Bench: It’s a shame I couldn’t fit everyone in but there’s only a limited amount of spaces and so many great players. Tom Nichols and Jake Sinclair were scoring goals for fun in the lower leagues before moving on and I thank them for their dominance at that time. Jake is second choice for England right now which just shows how well he has been progressing without me. The emergence of Southampton’s Jake Seager may be a problem for him in the next year or so though. Each player even on the bench I have fond memories of. Thank you all!

Interview with former Exeter City manager Cabee

Q: Firstly, congratulations for winning the treble for a second time in a row; you must feel honoured to be part of the fairly limited list of managers to do so?

A: Of course! I’m just one man and I don’t deserve all the credit, the praise should be spread across to other coaching staff, the fans and especially the players themselves.

Q: Understandably, the fans are absolutely distraught that you’re leaving the club; what do you have to say to them?

A: I understand how they feel but I have done all I can at this club. I’ve won it all and I’ve experienced the lot of it but what I haven’t experienced is moving to another club which I believe will greatly improve me as a manager. I’ll always have the upmost respect for the club I a sincerely hope the fans continue to get the happiness they deserve after I leave.

Q: Why, after all this time, have you decided to not renew your contract with the club?

A: As I’ve said, I will always be looking to improve myself as a manager and moving clubs is the next step forward.

Q: Where can we expect you to go next?

A: I’m really not sure. I love managing here but I’m also open to moving abroad. I could be going anywhere right now.

Q: Which teams have expressed interest in your services and which club will be your next?

A: Looking at my achievements, many clubs are interested in my services right now but it is too early to tell where I’ll be going.

Q: What did you and the lads get up to at your end of season party, then?

A: Aha-ha-ha! Let’s just say what happens at the end of season party stays at the end of season party!

Sorry to disappoint you and everyone else, but season 4+ of Sunderland is definitely not happening. I'd written that post ages ago and put it up today, but when I picked up the controller to get going, I just lost all interest. I think in between the moving and everything, I just kind of got detached from the career. Sad news, but on the bright side, I already have a new career lined up. In fact, the backstory/intro will be up in a couple of hours. For those of you who are curious as to the summer window that would have been, here it is.

Stefan de Vrij and Jetro Willems joined before the World Cup knockouts. We signed de Vrij off Milan for £27 million and Willems from Fiorentina for £17.5 million.

Younes Kaboul moved to Juventus for £14 million, and we signed Ryan Shawcross from Bayern in a seriously cut-price deal worth £5.5 million.

Jay Rodriguez moved to Arsenal for £25 million after they sold Alexis Sanchez to PSG. We signed Michail Antonio from Nottingham Forest as his replacement for £7 million.

Steven Gerrard joined Borussia Dortmund on loan, with Patrick van Aanholt moving to the same club for £6.5 million. We tried to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan off them but he wasn't willing to come for less than £140,000 per week and I called the deal off.

We also offloaded plenty of deadwood like Jake Flannigan, Jerome Binnom-Williams, Lynden Gooch, Ashley Williams, etc.

And then, the kicker.

Will Buckley puts in a transfer request days before the deadline closes. We try to convince him to stay, but he's not having it. Something about wanting to better himself. So he joins Real Madrid for £31 million to take over from Lucas Vazquez.

So I decide, screw it. I have loads of cash. Let's do this. We bring in Paul Pogba for £70 million and £200,000 a week. And then we pick up info that Radamel Falcao has put in a transfer request. We grab him, too, for a measly £18 million. And the team ends up looking like so in a 4-4-2 diamond:

Pantilimon; Walker, Shawcross, De Vrij, Willems; Ghazal, Henderson, Pogba, Sneijder; Falcao, Embolo

Pickford, Moore, Legge, McEachran, Gauld, Antonio, Ings

Oh, and our results that month? Chelsea 3-0, Stoke 4-0, QPR 9-1, Colchester 8-0, Everton 3-1. All wins. Buckley with 10 league goals in the first month ITSELF.

I can't believe that you actually kept going for so long and did so many great things with Exeter! Nine seasons, my God! I have to say, for me personally this journey was one of the best careers this thread has ever seen! Chico's Wimbledon career and Rabbit's Dagenham and Alcorcon careers are also up there. All of those careers were very long and passionate. Once again, magnificent job! Going through your best XI made me realise how huge the career actually was. Good luck with whoever you end up choosing! I'm looking forward to your new team but I'm also sad about the end of the Exter dynasty.

Indi - Very well done transfer gossip writeup! I'm interested in seeing who you bring in.
Edit: Nevermind, I can see why you got bored when looking at those results. I'm interested to see who you chose for the new career.

Hedges - Good to see that you are starting to raise up the table after a horrendous start! That Chelsea win will surely give you momentum to build upon.

SMH - Two careers again? Looks good to me! Both Malaga and Perm are interesting teams and it'll be interesting to see how you do with both of them.

Moose - 25M is a very nice amount of money for Goretzka. I'd say go for Pjanic as his replacement because he is very good on the game. Good passing, solid dribbling, very good free kicks, too, not that you need another player to take them. The 4-1-2-1-2 is the formation I'd go for, as well.

Cruzerr - Great season with Everton, well done on getting that top four finish! You finally picked up consistent form at the end of the season and it was all you needed. Lukaku and Karius were really big for you and I hope that both of them continue to perform! Good luck next season, I'm really looking forward to your Champions League campaign! Also, great job with the TOTS cards!

Rabbit - Newport: I'm also hopping onto the Ambrose hype train as he has been incredible for you! Tough luck about the Thuram injury but it hasn't slowed you down too much. Also, congratulations on promotion to the Championship! It'll be interesting to see who will be sold next season, but let's finish this one first. Nice touch with the highlights, as well. Also, the World Cup with Finland will be their first major tournament ever so that's something to look forward to.

Kayseri: February and March were quite good months with a couple of disappointing results in there but those games didn't matter much as you're sitting comfortably in fourth. Türüc continued to perform very well for you while Stolj... Stojlil... the Serbian guy also picked a few goals and assists. It took Peñaranda some time to get going but you have a very good attacking force in the three of them.

That should be everything from the last nine-ish pages. I'm very sorry if I missed someone! Also, I'll try to post the next Athletic update in the next couple of days.
