lol. Apparently according to some reports, Dinho and his brother (agent) have accepted the offer from LAG, but we don't wanna pay a transfer fee.
I think LAG has offered to pay ACM an appearance fee for the next four years, but not an outright transfer fee.

Anyways, looks like I will be starting my ML over again for the hundredth time. I wanna check out your latest update. Thanks for your work!

Yeah, I've long thought the transfer fee would be the hiccup. But the deal is much closer to happening than I ever thought it'd get. We shall see...

Sorry. You might want to hold off a few days, depending on whatever else goes down in the transfer window. We're going to throw a couple of new kits into the next update, too, although that won't affect a ML.

Re: MLS OF - PES 2010 for PS3 (US version)

          Update now available: version 1.5.

Includes all the recent MLS transactions & additions (Nery Castillo, Rafa Marquez, Ljungberg move, etc.), some new MLS kits, and some of the new '10/'11 kits for the EPL.

We also have started making inroads updating the other leagues in the game. Many of the major transfers for the EPL, La Liga, Ligue 1, and Serie A have been done. We are planning to have a comprehensive update with transfers done after the window closes, along with the addition of the 3 promoted EPL sides and 2 from La Liga. So expect all that in September, hopefully.

Further details, d/l links, and preview images for version 1.5 are here:

For me, I can't say 100%. The degree of my involvement is going to depend on my time/work/life situation. It's just a wait and see.

There's some material floating around in early impressions of the game (2011) suggesting there will be some sort of capability to import editing work from 2010 to 2011. That would be really, really nice -- and help cut down on work load tremendously. Unfortunately, Konami tends to never make stuff easy, so I'm not going to get my hopes up too much until the game is out.

The other issue is that MLS ties up its season around the time the next version of PES comes out. With roster turnover, it really doesn't make much sense to start working on a file in earnest until around the time of the SuperDraft in January. And rosters really don't gel completely until March. So matching up an MLS file with PES 2011 is a bit tricky. If the importing capability is really good, we could obviously get something out quicker. Having to start from scratch would be a major pain, especially when two more teams get added next year. Again, we'll see...

                  Thanks. Glad you like.

NB: if you ever seal the Omar Bravo move, he's already on the file. May have to wait until December, though.

Expect an update, possibly the final one, next week. At this point, it's likely we'll wait until after the September 15 MLS roster freeze to put it out.

Update will include: a large majority of in-game transfers completed, finalized creations of EPL promoted sides and Levante & Real Sociedad for La Liga, some newly created players to fill out rosters, updated kit numbers, and some tweaks to formations.

Sorry for the delay, but version 1.6 is now available. Details and d/l links here:

Basically, this update was an attempt to bring the file in line with the start of the 2010/2011 season. Highlights: a large majority of summer transfers completed, some new kits added for 10/11, and the finalized creation of promoted EPL (3) & La Liga (2) sides.

On the MLS side of things, rosters have been updated following the September 15th roster freeze date.

With PES 2011 so close and people already immersed in the demo, this is probably the last update for this option file. Hopefully some of you got some use out of it.

                      Cheers.

thanks for all your hard work man. I sure got a good run out of it. Hope to see it for 2011.

Oh, I haven't seen you post in the 2011 demo thread. Have you tried it? What's your take on it?

Thanks. Appreciate it. As I said before for '11, it's a wait and see. Kinda hoping that the editing import capability comes through. The idea of having to do a large volume of work on MLS from scratch is distinctly unappealing, especially with the move to 30-man rosters next year. 30 x 18 = yuck.

Lol. No, I haven't tried it out yet. On purpose, actually. I'm gonna play a little more with 2010 before I do so, partly to justify the latest round of editing we did on the file. I'm afraid that once you play '11, '10 gets spoiled and nearly unplayable. So I'm gonna hold out a bit longer.

Fair enough. Kinda off topic, but regarding the 30 man rosters next year. I heard about that and the possibility to bring back the reserve league. Was there any mention of increasing the salary cap? Or will the extra players be developmental and exempt from the cap? If they don't increase the cap and the extra roster spots are part of the cap, we're gonna see some very watered down teams next season especially with the expansion.

                              Couple of things:

-Under the new CBA, the cap increases incrementally each year, if I remember correctly. Not by much, but there is an uptick.

-I haven't heard many specifics about the reserve league. MLS just signed an extension with Adidas and, when that was announced, the added money seemed to be specifically earmarked for reserve league activity and player development. A good portion of reserve/developmental players probably will be cap exempt, like now. If I were to guess, I'd venture that some of the Adidas money will be used as a slush fund for paying reserves -- almost akin to the Generation Adidas deals.

                              - The big problem with the reserve league is travel costs and having large enough rosters so you don't have to call in the waterboy, assistant coach, etc. to fill out the 22 man field. The latter issue hopefully will be taken care of by the 30 man roster size. As for the former, I think the most likely development is that the reserve league/s get regionalized and at least partially detached from the senior MLS schedule, in order to minimize travel costs.

Aside: I think I first heard this from Steve Davis, but one of the under-the-radar problems with the reserve league was that it typically meant the games got played the following day after the senior MLS match. This didn't go down well with players or personnel not involved with the reserve match because it delayed return trips home from road matches and thus added another 'work day' to the MLS calendar, as opposed to flying out ASAP and having a full or largely full off day (typically family-friendly Sundays).

edit: here's the piece by Davis. It includes the above bit, plus other useful background:

Ok, for anyone interested, it looks like BolivianFire and I are going to take a stab at another OF with MLS for PES 2011 (PS3). We're just getting the ball rolling now.

No word on a timetable for completion, since there's a fair deal of work involved, although we might release a base of the OF sometime in the relatively near future. I'll probably post a new thread in the forums when that initial base becomes available.

Besides the FYI, this message is also an open-ended request for any feedback on the file we put together for PES 2010. So if you have any recommendations, critiques, or anything of that nature, shoot. Anything, really: pointing out errors, ID'ing players who you feel could use stat adjustments, things you'd like to see, etc. I'm all ears.
