Yes, if you want to do skill moves on your own you should turn off auto feint.
You can do some stuff like right stick down and then left stick up to get by opponents.

BTW: The thing that works the best for me against the CPU is just using turns. Meaning don't use sprint, go in one direction with the left stick and then into another one. If you do so, you can go by, especially if you use the sprint button after doing that "skill move" as it caught the CPU off guard.

        Yep to all of this.

Also this works great too, I have sprint on RT.

Do what you want but then let go of everything and hold RT for a quick stop.

Then get on close control and roll it left or right of the defender. The quick stop RT freezes the defender and the ball roll gets space, plus the ball roll is also the control shot button so 2 birds one stone...

Ekdal at cagliari, crashing down the inside left of the box, hit the brakes with RT and then held RB and rolled it over to his right foot changing lanes on the defender and then still holding RB hit a sweet curler into the upper right of the net.

You probably aren't as bad as you think. There's a decent tutorial up on youtube,,,but honestly, I recently started using the powerhouses: Ronaldo, Van Persie, Messi, etc...and the world opened up. Personnel and matchups are key

Also with auto feint on you can preload the skill move.

So say you are in space, you can hold up on the R stick and move with the L stick to where you want to go, then if you want to execute the trick all you need to do is stop pushing the L stick, so release it, then let go of the R stick and immediately push the L stick where you want to go.

You pull off the trick and away you go.

You can preload any of the moves this way.

Test it in training to get the hang of it, it takes about 4 seconds to go oh ok wow easy as this?

Re: How do u beat the CPU 1 v 1 when dribbling?

I'll have to try some of these suggestions because I have a nightmare time dribbling past anyone.

I play on normal and have been using a pretty average team in the AFC in ML mode. I edited the team to give them some better skills and speed but don't have any players rated over 81. Most of the teams I play against are lower rated with much slower players yet I can't dribble past anyone.

I even went back and edited a few players to boost their dribbling, speed, and any related skills way up and played a game against a one star team with a bunch of slow pokes. It was still impossible for me to out run the CPU on long balls and I can't get more than a few steps of dribbling before they knock the ball away, even when using close control to guard a bit.

Yet when the CPU has the ball they can just dribble down the field without even using skill moves with 2-3 of my players right on top of the guy. I sit there holding X and square and call in a third player sometimes, all of us pressed right against the guy with the ball and he just keeps going and going. I can eventually tap X to knock the ball lose sometimes but I don't even get control of it most of the time even with those 2-3 defenders. The same ball carrier just grabs it back. But when they knock the ball away from me my player acts like he has no idea what happened and the CPU gets control of it and races off.

The worst part is that even with much higher speed I can't even sprint away from any defenders that are close to me. The stick like glue and take the ball after a few steps. I know learning some of the skill moves and quick stopping would help get past them but the CPU doesn't do any of that to just dribble all over me. It's frustrating!

I have been loving this game since I bought it but these issues are making it hard to keep playing and I don't want to resort to buying FIFA. Can anyone offer some help?

Re: How do u beat the CPU 1 v 1 when dribbling?

I understand what you're saying. For me I find the easiest way to get a step past the defender so you can sprint away is by using through balls and making players go on runs. I know it's not the same as just beating a player and sprinting off, but there are some limitations in this game that you are pointing out.

It's a good game, but there are some things that could use some work still. Like you, I really hate that the cpu is like a tank on the ball and is very hard to knock off it. I created a DMF with super high stats, yet, as we have all experienced, the cpu can dispossess him easily when they want, and the cpu can brush past him on a tank run when they want.

While these things really can make it hard to enjoy the game at times, it sure is no fifa. If you want to challenge your patience and your ability not to break a controller, give Fifa a try.

Re: How do u beat the CPU 1 v 1 when dribbling?

Sometimes playing on a closer camera angle can help too. I play on a custom cam (J-Unit's) and it really helps because I can see the defenders feet and body shape. Since the game respects player physics as it relates to movement/momentum it really helps.

Kashik, one of the issues is that the CPU rarely lets you get close enough to shoulder them off the ball. I can dispossess them but it's usually from lunging in. Also, you really don't need to use the tackle button if you're settings are on "auto/semi" for assistance. I've squared up on defenders using semi and had the CPU try to dribble right through only to see my guy knock the ball away. It really helps this way because you're not as vulnerable if you miss which allows you to recover quicker.

I think it's been said but the easiest way to beat the CPU 1 on 1 is by using the sidestep speed burst move.
