Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So, if you really hate yourself, do what I did. Start as a Sunday League reputation manager in the 8th tier of England. Part time contracts and no money. Fun!
I'm attempting Mangotsfield in the Zamaretto Division One South/West. I start out over my wage budget of $1300/week with a board that will not allow me to sign anyone further. My only staff is an assistant manager. Hopefully, I'll be able to take in players on loan from league 2 reserve squads.I just played my first friendly on the road, and there was 34 people in the stands.
I think I tried them before, but didn't get far.
We're supposed to mount a title challenge, and we have for the most part, but a deep FA cup run (3rd round, and a replay just about every round, including all 3 "proper" rounds) means some vicious match congestion, and by that same token, vicious injuries.
At one point I had 7 players out injured, all of them were at one point starters. Most of them returned around the same time, but now they are starting to fall out again.
We're starting to drop, and squandered just about all of our games in hand from the cup run due to injuries and fatigue.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Complete 180! Something clicked. I think the squad finally hit the next level of harmony, because one match they looked uninspired, and the next they looked deadly. Won 5 out of our last 6, including a win against former league leaders AFC Hornchurch.
Now, with 14 games to go, we are looking to be in firm playoff position, although there still is some time left in the season.
Also, the squad's newly found strength has driven me to a Manager of the Month award.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
This might have been posted earlier, but I started a new game last with this league....
A 7 tiered US system. Can start at a small club and work your way up. The MLS premier doesn't have so many rules that make it really hard to compete in NACL, Open Cup, and League games. I also edited to have my club have a reserve and U-19 teams as well.
I started as Seattle so that I can figure out the league. But might choose a lower level team and work our way up.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Well, I've been trying to burn through this season since I want to reach the playoffs, I've had that "one more game" mentality a few nights now. We're nearing the end...and I fear I may have run the squad way too hard trying to make the playoffs. A bunch of guys need rest, so I'm just gonna rotate them out one at a time, hopefully if we do reach the playoffs, they are all good to go.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I feel dumb. Will do that now. Quick update, just won a huge road match. 5 games left, 2 points from first, 4 points from no playoffs. Super tight. Our next match is against the 1st place team, at home. We could very well walk away from this as champions, which I would love.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Got to play two games in the Gold Cup, won both easily.
I took a B+ squad. Some regulars, and some youngsters.
Javier Hernandez got a hat-trick in one game.
Cesar Villaluz got his first ever goal in another.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
We made the playoffs, couldn't catch the leaders, however.
Now, this is stupid. I play a one legged playoff AT T&M. And if we manage to win that, we have to play the final 3 days later.
Anyone know how to fit the entire table into one screen shot? I tried setting the game to full screen, but it didn't work, as it just took a picture of my desktop.
EDIT:
Nothing like wasting 34 hours of your life, eh?

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
This makes absolutely no sense. What the ****. This is ****ing horse****. I did a part exchange, sending $16M + Jonathan for a regen Aykut (valued at $7.75M). There was a 10% sell-on fee attached to Jonathan from his previous transfer. Why the **** am I paying Cruzeiro (Jonathan's previous team) $11.5M?!? There is NO WAY that the transfer was worth $100+M.

Gold Cup Final
Both team had full strength squads.
After 2 games with Wolves in this new season, I have 3 points.
I've gone with the Roy Keane strategy and signed Manchester United players.
In are Cleverly, Drinkwater,Smalling, and Corry Evans. Also in is Guille Franco.Comment
