The problem is I can't seem to sign anybody. Does anybody have any tips or advice when it comes to buying players. I have had bids turned down for Christian Ledesma which didn't surprise me since he plays for Lazio which is a rival. But also had bids turned down for Aaron Lennon, Jermaine Jenas, and Clint Dempsey.
Sometimes you just got to overplay for players.
Look for players on struggling clubs, as well as player within the nation your playing in.
French/Dutch league teams are more willing to let them go for a decent price.
    Declare interest in a player.

      Appreciate the advice.

I think I'm going to restart with a team whose players I'm more familiar with like Arsenal, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, or Juventus. I follow those teams pretty closely so maybe that will help me out some.

I try to load up my game this morning and I get this? WTF?!?!?!? I'll have to start from the beginning of the summer on my backup save. I guess my Gomis transfer won't have happened and my 4-0 thumping of Bolton will be gone, plus my signings won't be there.

That's tough. I've never had that before.

After I saw you sign Gomis, I went after him too. Was looking for a striker for my Nottingham Forest team, and got him for $9M. He's a bit older though as I'm in the year 2014 I believe...but I'm about to win promotion to the Premiership.

Gomis has been quite good for me (8 goals in 17 games), but, before the save wouldn't load, Barcelona offered 73+ million for him. With the money, I was able to make my team loads better. Now, using the backup save, I only ~15 million in the bank and am struggling to find depth. Yet, Barca just declared interest in him as France won the Euros. Hopefully they'll put in an offer again.

Not sure what to do here, I have the opportunity to sign 31 year old Kaka, but to do so I have to give up Carlos Vela, any advice?

EDIT: Forget that, Vela rejected Milan's contract offer, deals off.

I would have said no anyway. Vela is a beast for me and my leading goal scorer, and he's coming off the bench.

I just beat Liverpool 7-0!!!! Granted, they have fallen way down and will finish middle of the table (Man City is the new "Big Four" team, but still, I loved that win. Especially since it broke my streak of 1-0 victories. I am still not conceding any goals.

So I signed two bigtime players. One is a midfielder, Dean Whitehead, and the other is Finish defender/rightback Petri Pesonen. I think I'm booting Petrov out of the starting XI for Whitehead and Pesonen is to pair with Laursen and to replace Techno Viking when he leaves for Juventus.

I signed another young RB who is 19 and already playing in the Premier League and still trying to find that elusive cheap striker. I will say, Randy Lerner is one hell of a rich dude in this game. 40 mill for summer transfers, then 20 million for Jan transfers...insane.

Well Vela didn't stay much longer as City came in with a huge offer and the Chairman accepted.

In the end I did sign Kaka and Vela did leave

I have a quick question. In league cup games (FA, Carling, Copa del Rey, etc.) do you rest your 1st team regulars and play your reserves and backups, or do you risk the fatigue and unhappiness and play the regulars?

Started up a game as FC Zürich. Looking to challenge for the title and do well in the UEFA Cup.

Squad is pretty strong, just need to bring in a little depth.

Speaking of depth, how do you guys structure your squad? Like how many backups per position, etc...

I usually always rest key players in Carling Cup, FA Cup I usually bring up a few youngsters in the early rounds, and if I make it further I play my starters.

If I have the money I would prefer to have a backup for each position, (twenty two players.)
and then some youngsters waiting in the wings.

It depends on the round, but I play the reserves in the earlier stages so they stay happy and the starters don't get fatigued. Plus, by doing so I'm not risking injury to the starters.

I always play my reserves in CC Wenger style. Of course, having the youngsters that Arsenal have makes this easier lol
