Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

This was the first time I considered a half back and it seems to have worked pretty well. I play Rodolph Austin there at the moment due to a lack of options, but he's going ok so far.

My biggest problem is up front, as I can't seem to get a striker to score goals. At the moment, I'm playing Ross McCormack as a poacher, but I can't settle on how to play him as he doesn't score.

Just finished the season in 12th place, so I've got a base to build on at least. I'm pretty happy with my defenders, I've just got to sort out a misfiring attack.

I've never had any luck with a poacher, myself. Could be my general disdain for them, but I like a forward to start my defense, have a good work rate and be able to lay passes off and let the midfielders latch onto them.

        Spoiler

My goalie is the best, one of few regens that I kept. I lost/let go a lot of good young players because I needed the money, hopefully I can stay in this league for couple of years and get promoted again.

Make sure you set your players to man mark instead of just go back. If they are set to go back they will often lose players.

I'm loving the way the game handles manager feuds, btw. Alan Pardew just accused me of being such a poor sport that I wouldn't shake his hand, and I accused him of being out of his mind. This was after he called me an unprofessional, terrible manager, to which I replied I had no time for a manager who employs dirty tactics. Great stuff.

Started my Bottom at Christmas save because it's that time of year. What team was bottom of the league at Christmas you ask?

              Spoiler

And yes they even have Wilfried Zaha on loan to them. Hopefully this is a pretty easy save.

              EDIT:

Match 2 at Anfield to take on 5th place Liverpool. Papiss Cise goes down with an early injury and I substitute on Gouffran. Played a 5-4-1 in an attempt to park the bus and shut down the LFC attack. It worked almost to perfection, minus one Suarez howler that my keeper had no chance on.

And Gouffran, well he must have had a chip on his shoulder.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

After spending a ton of time downloading the game, the facepack, and the logopack, I had enough time to get through Pre-season and the first match of the season before I go to bed.

Plus side: the game runs fantastically on my computer, I'll probably play it a lot more than I did FM13 just because of that.

Seems like some nice improvements in the game this year, I like the newer tactics/instructions screens. And I ;ove the new match graphics, they look great!

So in my one game, that I probably stayed up too late to play, I got smoked 4-0 by Arsenal (I'm playing as Spurs). Sigh, seems about right.... haha

Yeah, this game, performance wise, is 10x the game that FM13 was and that was a large factor in me never getting into it that deep.

Guess it's time for me to finally retire FM12.

Is there an advanced editor tutorial floating around the internet somewhere?

I am desperately trying to expand the US down to its US Development Academy League, unlocking NASL, USL PRO, PDL, NPSL along the way. I want to start off as a Academy League manager working my way up to hopefully manage the USMT then eventually off to Europe.

Something like this? Haven't tested it, so I'm not sure how it plays.

Hopefully paulgerty over there releases his expansion file again this year, as it was the best US expansion last year.

Yea I seen this earlier. I've been running into a lot of fantasy and revamps of the MLS. As of now, I am wondering if I can expand this existing file down to 2 more levels without losing the draft.
