Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Hey guys, I am in the process of downloading this game right now from steam. I have a few questions

    1) What Database do you guys recommend.

    2) What skin do you recommend

    3) If there are difficulty, what is the most realistic as far as transfers and just overal difficulty.

Thanks again and I look forward to posting updates with you all.

Just started an MLS game. Swapped Seattle in for Chivas USA, and Portland (who I'm managing) in for San Jose.

        1. I like the official 9.2 DB, which has updates up to the start of last season. 9.3 updates to post-Jan. transfer window last year, but I believe it also eliminates your transfer budget for the first season (Could be wrong on that, though; been quite a while since I fired up a game with that DB). As far as how many countries/size, that's more up to what kind of a game you are playing, and, more importantly, how powerful a machine you are running this on.

        2. I like the default myself, but that's just me. I prefer a clean, simple background, and I just got used to it after a while.

        3. There are no difficulty settings, although this is essentially set by which team you choose. Obviously Man U is easier to win and bring transfers in with than a random semi-pro team, but the expectations are higher, too.

I would suggest picking a pretty good team to start your first game with, just because if you have a need, you will know players through your own knowledge who can fill the void, instead of relying entirely on in-game scouting.

          1) Database - the 9.3 one or Weegie Update if you want the latest transfers

          2) The default skin is nice, but Klasa is very nice too

          3) No difficulty in terms of an option - but using a team like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Man City will be easier than managing a lower level team in the 1st and 2nd divisions.

          Hope that helps

By the way, I took Juve to the treble in my 1st season. Stayed undefeated and took out Liverpool to win the CL; Inter to win Coppa Italia. I have a 58 million budget and figuring out who to sign

If you got it through Steam, I believe Steam handles the updates automatically.

So I decided to use my favorite big 4 team, Arsenal...and my God.

I'm at the contract phase to pick up Tim Cahill, and a midfield with Rosicky and Fabregas...it will be deadly!

Alright, I just qualified for Euros with two huge wins, one over Germany and the over the Czech Republic (2 and 3 in the group). Miralem Sulejmani is an effin animal out there. In 5 international appearances in 2011, he has 5 goals and 5 assists with an average rating of 7.46. Gotta love it. It's really too bad he pushed Zigic out of the starting XI now that I've switched to a 4-2-3-1 so I only need one forward. Here are a bunch of screenies...

I learned the hard way, go with a official database, I had to restart twice using others. Using database 9.3 now, Team USA Campaign.

                    Klasa Rocks for skin!!

No difficulty, but thats why I started with just team USA, players i know till i get hang of game.

Team USA Campaign update: with 9.3 database.

                      Currently July 2009:

                      Currently WCQ:

Qualify for World Cup with Mexico and honduras.

Confederations Cup: Had a 1-0 upset of Spain in Semi's!! just like real life, only to make final and get arse kicked by Italy 4-1

Moved up to 16th in world rankings with Confed showing, Italy now new #1.

Gold Cup: Swept group, no goals scored against me. Beat Honduras in Quarters 1-0, Semi's 2-0 win over Guatemala, Final against Mexico, 2-0. Altidore 2 goals!! GOLD CUP CHAMPS!!!

Anyone else have this happen? and is there a way to manually put myself back as head coach of Team USA, really wanted to go through world cup, and even had a offer for friendly against Germany.

As much as that sucks, it gets worse: I just got sacked at Espanyol after two terrible performances in a row (1-4 home to Atletico Madrid and 0-3 away to Barcelona). I was sitting in 6th place with a team of crap (predicted 10th). Now, I'm looking for a job. Oh well. I hope that the next coach has fun with a $0 transfer budget! Espanyol's board members have some tight pockets...
