Haha made the Europa League after finishing 7th because the Spurs, who finished 5th, had financial issues. Lost to Hoffenheim in the finals 2 years ago, so hoping I get another shot at it.

As bad as this looks, it's pretty expected. I spent money on youth (only around £6m/$10m) so it's nearly the same squad as last year. I won't be too disappointed if we go down. I expected us to finish bottom but if we do, then we'll more than likely come straight back up.

What is even better is the financial situation. If my projected balance is right, I'll have made about $70m this season alone. In nearly every other game I've had as Leeds that's been successful, I've tried to go as fast as I can to the top without any care for the finances but I'd rather do it different this year!

Does anyone else sign former players as staff?

I just signed my first season GK and first season CD/Captain as U19 Coaches, and realize that since FM13 I've really gotten in this habit.

Yeah, definitely, and players I like. It's 2023 in my Seattle Sounders game, and I have Clint Dempsey, Roger Leveque, Didier Drogba, Eddie Pope, Fernando Arce, Kasey Keller, Eddie Johnson, and a few others I'm forgetting on my staff. I wanted to hire Ozzie Alonso, but he was hired as Philly's HC (and then fired) and didn't want to be an assistant.

I only do if they are actually good - or I have excess coaching spots available with money to burn.

Yeah. If they have something to add (even if it's 2-3 very good coaching attributes only, especially in lower-middle leagues) I will.

Otherwise? **** 'em. They made their money.

While we're on coaches, I found this handy chart while I was retooling my Braunschweig staff last offseason. I didn't get as far as downloading the actual calculator, so I can't comment on that.

I'm in the pre-season with Liverpool settled on a 4-3-3 with three strikers, two central mids and someone in front of the back four. Liking it so far. Sturridge and Sterling as inside forwards with Suarez at the Center as a false 9. The team is solid but I will be looking at signing another young cb to develop alongside Sakho and a FB. Other than that I will develop the likes of Rossiter, Wilson, Sinclair, Ibe, and Ojo

Depending on how you do, Pap is a good choice for CB - though unsure if he would sign with you depending on how you do the first year.

Thanks bud. Was looking at Pap and Tin Jedvaj. Not looking to sign anyone until after the season in any event. Players have to be young so I fulfill board promises.

Indeed. Another one to look for would be Balanta from River Plate. He may get snatched up early, though. I just love having Pap because he's a monster back there with his size and physical stats. Plus, in real life he's kinda crazy and all teams need a defender like that.

A season of frustration and joy for me.

Started as Stuttgarter Kickers in the 3. Liga in Germany. Media projection of 20th (out of 20 teams.) Broke, so I'm probably going to lose the majority of my team. Had some good form runs and bad form runs. Towards the end of the season in SSv5 I switched striker roles around, just to try and shake things up a bit. The way my finishing was this year (terrible) I fully expect to get smoked out of the 2 Bundesliga. My shot percentage was terrible for as many shots as we were creating - sometimes over 6 CCC with no goals.

Just went through the 2014 World Cup with Team USA. We finished second in qualifying behind Mexico and got in a group with Colombia, Greece, and Morocco. After tying Greece 0-0, we somehow steamrolled Colombia 3-1 (we were up 3-0 at the half) before beating Morocco 3-2 and advancing to the round of 16.

Against Uruguay, we went to extra time scoreless. Uruguay scored early in the first part of extra time, but right before the break, one of their players was sent off. In the final 15 minutes, Michael Bradley tied it on a free kick before Clint Dempsey fired one home from outside the box to win it.

Ultimately, though, that meant a quarterfinal matchup with Brazil, which we lost 2-1 after two offsides penalties cost us two goals. It's going to be a transition period for the team now, especially given the age of some of the team's longtime stalwarts. Still, I'm optimistic I can keep this going.

Oh well, we're relegated which was to be expected. I've continued to spend on youth but I've still not paid any huge fees so we're in superb financial health. If we don't go straight back up I'll be disappointed as we've only lost a few players, and only one of those (Oğuzhan Özyakup) was of any real class.

                              Next season should be fun!

Have to retire my Derby save, my computer is already slow as it is but with more players, the game got much slower.

Might take a team from a smaller country and try to be like Celtic there, where I try to dominate the league and pray to do well in CL.
