Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I just won my first piece of silverware with Spartak Moscow, in dramatic fashion against "fierce rivals" CSKA Moscow in extra-time nonetheless.

Some game notes:
- Coming into the game, CSKA, led by Akinfeev, had only allowed 1 goal all season (this doesn't include the portion of the Cup from the previous season).
- Alexandr Prudnikov maintained his amazing scoring record of 13 goals in 19 games.
- 10-man CSKA hit the post in the 113th minute.
- Spartak were "denied claims for penalties" 3 times during the game.
- Alejandro Dominguez and Roman Shishkin were undergoing injections to treat injuries that they suffered 2 games (14 days) earlier and each started the game at 87%, but were called on to start as they are the heart and soul of my team.
- Vagner Love scored a critical goal against his former team (I bought him from Inter for $6.75m at the beginning of the season).Last edited by Tomasperez9; 07-31-2009, 11:28 PM.YNWA

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Euros were short for Serbia, yet seem to still have done wonders for their confidence, as they now know that they can compete with the big boys. Things may have been completely different if I hadn't drawn such a terrible group, but what can you do? The tournament started off quite well with a decisive 1-0 win over the Czech Republic (I seem to have their number), followed by a poor outing against France (0-2; after suffering an unfortunate red card in the ~30th minute, I really had no chance). Then, needing a win against World #1 Spain and France to lose to or draw with the Czech Republic for us to make it past the group stages, we tied 1-1 with Spain thanks to a late equalizer by Kuzmanovic (the Czech Republic did us no favors either, losing 2-1 by a late goal from Gourcuff). Well, I drew against the top team in the world and played alright (considering I was down to 10 men) against the 3rd-ranked France squad, so I have to be pretty pleased with the performance. Also, Branislav Ivanovic missed the last 2 games and Miralem Sulejmani missed the 1st game, both due to injury.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Thanks. I just wish I would've drawn an easier group. Dejan Staknovic just resigned as captain as he said he'd been wearing the captain's armband for too long (he did just set the all-time caps record for Serbia earlier in the friendly campaign leading up to Euros). So, I appointed Gojko Kacar as my captain and let Bosko Jankovic take over as vice-captain. Now we're onto the second half of the RPD with Spartak (currently in 2nd place behind Zenit who have won every game) and WCQs with Serbia.YNWA

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Well I just finished my 1st season at Liverpool and boy was it a success....I managed to win the quadruple - Premiership, CL, CC, and FA Cups. Torres was my hero - 58 goals in 54 appearances.....top scorer in the league and CL.
I got a 135 million budget this summer and brought in Fazio, David Silva, and Giovinco. My team is loaded for next season:
GK: Reina/Fiorillo
DR: Santon/Johnson
DC: Fazio/Carragher
DC: Chiellini/Hobbs
DL: Bale/Mattock
DMC: Veloso/Alonso
AMC: Gerrard/Giovinco
MR: Young/Sanchez
ML: Silva/Babel
FC: Torres/Paloschi
FC: Aguero/Cristaldo
Rock solid teamComment
