Should I invest in FM 09 with FM10 coming out in Oct? I've been playing the demo! I usually get it but this year they really f'd up the Mac digitial download. They finally put one up not too long ago through a torrent (slow) and while I want to spend the $30 a part of me wants to wait until Oct.

I'm waiting, and will probably pre-order it when I have the money.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Well, here's what I would say. If you're going to leisurely play it, then wait for 10 and stick with the demo.
However, if you are like me and playing constantly and don't mind dropping the $30, then get it. I bought it on STEAM last year and this is the one game I never get bored of playing lolComment

Got to the group stage of UEFA Cup and got locked into the group of doom.
Barcelona and Paris St. Germain with me being Everton and struggling out of the gate because I cannot find scoring *Yakubu and Saha both hurt*. This may be a quick exit.Too Old To Game Club

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
What's up fellas, I am back with a report. Work killing me. As some of you know I started my game as Team USA coach only and see how I could do, while seeing how long it would take to get professional offers.
Team USA had decent run, here are some stats:
Record thru World Cup 2010:
Wins - 19
Losses - 12
Draws - 3
Key Wins: WC: Spain 1-0, France 2-0 GC: Mexico 2-2 penalties, WCQ: Mexico 3-2
2009 Gold Cup Champions 2-2 penalty win over Mexico - Howard blocks a penalty shot to win it for USA!!
2nd in WCQ after Mexico - beat tough teams like Mexico and Costa Rica, but losses to others I should of not.
2010 World Cup: group: Nigeria, Spain, France, USA
Loss to Nigeria 0-1
Beat Spain 1-0
Beat France 2-0
Advance to 2nd round and draw England, missed a penalty shot and another open shot early on that changed complextion of game, Dempsey got injured on pitch early on and had to leave, loss match 3-1.
So here we are, day after World Cup, and I finally get offer from pro team, Austrian Premier League - Austrian Lustenau, top player a Brazilian with mostly Austrians in squad. Not sure if I should give it a go, or see if other offers come in next few weeks? Still Team USA coach, got friendly against Colombia coming up.
I went ahead and took job, at least it is in a premier league in europe. Also I for got to mention 2010 World Cup Final:

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I got bored of Spartak Moscow and Serbia so I've quit playing that save for a little. In the meantime, I've started up a game as Johan Cruyff who has just taken over as the manager of Brazil. This may be far too easy, thus a short lived experience, but it'll (hopefully) hold me off until I head off to Syracuse later this week...YNWA

Well, it looks like it's time to give up on the UEFA and just go for premium spot in the PREM. Already out of the League Cup because I got the unfortunate draw of getting Portsmouth and then my Group Draw from hell in UEFA, so let's go Prem! Oh and my players are dropping like flies.Too Old To Game Club

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I am in December as Arsenal. Despite the fact that I've not lost and had 1 draw, Chelsea are right behind me. RVP is kicking butt with 19 goals while Bendtner has been solid too with 15 (in all contests). Nasri and Vela are injured right now an Walcott has been battling small injuries all season. When he's been healthy, he's been very good
Biggest win was a 5-0 mauling of PSV in the CL group stage with Bendtner scoring 4 goals.
Instead of signing big name talents, I signed young mainly British players for the future. I did sign Sakho and Vieira who have been solid additions.
My youth team is undefeated with the likes of Saivet, Fleck, Bostock, Baxter, Wilshere and RodwellComment

Did you keep your squad the same Chubby? I played as Liverpool and got rid of the dead weights to buy better players
Back to my Arsenal season - my team is playing well now. I'm into the January window. I advanced to the 4th round of the FA Cup after demolishing Norwich 4-0 with my youth team. Fleck, Vela, and Wilshere all played well
In the Carling Cup, I smoked Spurs 4-1. RVP got hurt though with a groin strain and is out for 3 weeks
In transfer news, I sold Gallas because he was becoming a locker room distraction after saying he doesn't like Samir Nasri (WTF?). Man United took him off my hands. Not a huge loss since Vermaelen and Sakho were my top defense pair anyway
Liverpool got Amauri for 18 million and I was going to sign a well-known and cheap American defender to boost shirt sales. Any suggestions?Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I purchased 18 yr old AM F Roman Zozulya from Dinamo Kiev to help out the front side. He's young and I'm still easing him in gently. So far though he seems to be fitting in.
I've also put in an offer for a younger player from Tottenham also. My scout recommended him as a young player to look at. Forget the name. Bostock maybe?
Like I said Real Madrid offered me $44 Million for Stevie G, but I just can't do it...Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
After my crash and burn first year with Everton, which included an 11th place finish, selling Tim Cahill, Yakubu, Leighton Baines, and Tim Howard, being eliminated in both domestic cup competitions *one which was an embarrassing 4-0 loss to Championship side West Brom*, and other such let down, I'm looking forward to the next season. I have managed to jump out to a extremely hot start this time, as at November 4th I have yet to lose at home and am currently at 5th in league. Unfortunately, I had yet another Cup disaster, being ousted by Portsmouth.
I'm not sure how to do that whole screenshot business, but Dean Ashton and Louis Saha are off to scorching hot starts and my defense is dominating, giving up only 12 goals in 11 games. I guess this whole buy young uber talents is really working out. Couple of years and I should make a proper challenge for the league.Too Old To Game Club
