Thanks to Hibernian coughing up a 2-0 lead over Alloa, I've clinched the Scottish Championship with a game to play. Had a 20-match unbeaten streak, and still managed to nearly cough up a 9 point lead late.

Now the hard work starts....getting this club ready for the Scottish Premiership. As of now, my salary commitments are going from $8.65 million down to $2.02 million (getting rid of a lot of dead old weight...damn you Ally McCoist). Payroll budget is set at $12.89 million with a transfer kitty of $1.84 million.

So in 24 league games, I've gotten 12 penalties (we scored on 11). Never seen anything like this before.

Yeah I've been seeing something similar in my new save. Pretty much one penalty per game (split evenly between my team and the opposition). Rather frustrating.

e: that being said I haven't really got into a FM since '09 and wow its insane how much depth this game has added since then

I tied for the league lead in penalties earned last season with 8 (38 matches). I also have a tactic that keeps possession and tries to score goals with a lot of passing around the penalty area. You'll regress to the mean eventually.

"Only" ended with 13 penalties after the year.



1st year in La Liga went well. I had to play the final 4 games with some random GK because my top two GKs that were registered were injured.

Well...good bye His release clause was cheap as hell and I couldn't afford to give him a raise.


Just went to Barca/Arsenal for new players.

Celtic thought they were going to welcome me to the Premiership.....we appreciate the hospitality.

Slow start and my attack is struggling. But three straight 1-0 victories over Ross County, Aberdeen, and Celtic have vaulted me to second.

Will give an update on my transfers once the deadline passes.

Big post coming. First post ever in these forums and I'm 5 years into my Liverpool save so there's a lot to cover, starting of course with the 2014/15 season. I'm gonna present this in a football website kind of way, a lot of third person references I'm sorry.

Arriving at Anfield in July 2014 in his first non playing role, former English midfielder Paul Foxcroft had a tough task. After his boyhood club came so close to the title the previous season, the loss of Luis Suarez left him a massive hole to fill. Rather than directly addressing this issue the rookie boss chose to build in other areas of the pitch, most notably with the arrival of Colombian defender Eder Alvarez Balanta and goalkeeper Jan Oblak, the latter costing near a club record £34.5m from the Spanish champions. Also arriving was young Norwegian Kristoffer Ajer from Start. Leaving the club were Jon Flanagan to Southampton for a measly £1.8m and highly rated winger Suso to French outfit Lyon. Young midfielder Jordan Rossiter also left for Birmingham on loan for the season.

The season itself did not go swimmingly. The new look liverpool finished only 6th, a staggering 14 points off 4th place and a further 21 from winners Manchester City. Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho was top scorer with 14 goals from 48 games as Daniel Sturridge failed to put together an impressive run and frequently lost out to Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini who combined to contribute 17 goals in the season. In Europe they failed to make it through the group stage of the Champions League, reaching as far as the semi final where they lost 4-3 on aggregate to Dynamo Kyiv. On the domestic front Liverpool didn't fare much better, losing in the 4th round of both the FA Cup and League Cup losing 3-1 to Wolves and 3-2 to Spurs respectively.

At the end of the season fans were displeased with an ultimately very disappointing season but many maintained that the manager's inexperience was the main culprit and that this would improve in seasons ahead.

The 2015/16 season saw a significant lift in fortunes for Liverpool with an influx of money contributing to some shrewd signings. 23 year old full back Pavel Kaderabek joined from Sparta Prague to fill the right back spot due to Glen Johnson's deteriorating fitness and form. Also joining was Argentine midfielder Lucas Romero from Velez for £8m, Max Meyer of Schalke for £15m and Ryan Bertrand for £2.5m. Mexican forward Carlos Fierro joined and instantly endeared himself to Scouse hearts.

In the departures lounge sat Emre Can and Suso, the latter following a promising loan spell with Lyon, for a combined £50m to PSG. Stalwart Lucas left for Real Madrid for £12m while the defensive duo of Martin Skrtel and Seb Coates left for £2m each.

In the league the Reds were monstrous, winning the league with 92 points from United, with 88. One of the highlights of the season was a sensational four goal performance from Sturridge in a 5-2 win at Anfield over Arsenal. Liverpool's 26 year wait for a title came to an end against Norwich City at Anfield in a 3-1 victory.

In the cups, Bournemouth pulled out one of the all time shocking performances to beat Liverpool 3-2 in extra time at Wembley in the FA Cup final. This followed a disappointing end to their League Cup campaign, losing out on penalties to Arsenal in the final. Further heartbreak in the Europa League was found when once again Liverpool fell at the penultimate hurdle, this time to Besiktas as they lost 2-2 on away goals after conceding an away goal in the first leg at Anfield.

On the goalscoring front it was a much more successful season for Liverpool. Forward Carlos Fierro contributed a staggering 41 goals in 52 games, most of his goals coming in the cups. Daniel Sturridge found form, notching 29 times in 53 games and veteran Rickie Lambert contributed 16 goals in 34 games from midfield.

The rest is gonna come soon. I just typed out the first couple of seasons on my phone and it was the most annoying thing I've ever done.

Hoping to build on the successes of last season, Foxcroft faced a summer of finding a way to keep the winning formula fresh. The sale of Daniel Sturridge to Arsenal left him with a gap up front which needed to be filled, and he hoped that the £19.5m signing of Italian striker Domenico Berardi would be exactly what was needed. Additionally, Argentina defensive midfielder Gaston Gil Romero was signed from Estudiantes for £7m. Belgian wonderkid Frederic Fleury was brought in from Genk for £14.8m, a signing with which many fans immediately disagreed due to his lack of experience and the high transfer fee. Other than these, Liverpool brought in severl Spanish backup players; Juan Antonio of Deportivo, Carlos Martinez of Real Sociedad and Aarón of Espanyol.

As well as the aforementioned loss of Sturridge, Liverpool lost defensive stopper Mamadou Sakho to Inter for £18m after three years at the club, as well as Joe Allen and Tiago Ilori to Leicester combined for £9m. Glen Johnson finally left following years of injuries and stagnant form. Oussama Assaidi made his long term loan permanent with a £5m move to Stoke. The black spot of Foxcroft's reign at this point was allowing Joel Matip a free transfer to West Ham less than six months after joining for £15m.

Liverpool retained the league title with a record goalscoring haul of 107 goals, finishing with 90 points, 11 ahead of Man United. The game of the season took place on the very first weekend with a 5-a-side score away to Norwich, an incredible 8-5 win, with seven players scoring including a brace from new man Berardi. Very notable was Liverpool's ability to blow away teams of similar stature, including a 6-2 win at Anfield over Manchester City with Berardi scoring a hat trick as Liverpool scored 4 in the final 15 minutes.

Once again, Liverpool failed to win the FA Cup, losing 3-0 to Cardiff in the semi final at Wembley, a disappointment similar to that faced in the 1-0 League Cup quarter final loss to Crystal Palace. At least Foxcroft could celebrate a second trophy as his side exacted revenge on Bournemouth with a 6-3 victory in the Community Shield. Debutant Berardi introduced himself quickly to fans in a spectacular first half display from the Reds, who led 5-0 at half time. In their first foray into Europe's elite competition since Foxcroft's debut season, Liverpool lost in the first knockout round to Bayern Munich following a 4-3 aggregate loss, but there was heart to be found in the second leg demolition of Bayern, scoring all three of their goals in the one game.

By the end of his first season, Berardi had already broken several records and begun on his path to becoming a Liverpool legend. The 23 year old scored 58 times in 53 games, an astonishing 43 goals in the Premier League, while also contributing 29 assists to his team mates in all competitions. Winger Raheem Sterling broke the 20 goal barrier for the first time in his career, scoring 20 from 49 games, while Max Meyer chipped in with 18 goals. After his hot first season, Fierro's lesser involvement and the higher standard of competition led to him managing only 6 goals in 21 games.

The 2017/18 brought plenty of defensive additions to the Liverpool squad, including goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli for £31m from Monaco. Significantly strengthening the left side of defence was Sporting's Jonathan Silva, signed in January for £25m. Young Spanish centre back Jonathan Rincon joined in January from Deportivo and Lucas Digne arrived from PSG for £12m to solidify Liverpool's new left side. Promising goalkeeper Gonzalo Acevedo arrived from Lanus for £9m.

After two years at the club, German enforcer Christoph Kramer was sold to Manchester City for £25.5m, a £10m profit after a string of disappointing performances the season previous. Jan Oblak was sold to Stuttgart at a huge loss at only £9.8m, while disappointing centre back Dejan Lovren also left for Germany for £9.5m.

Liverpool retained their title, this time in a much closer race with Manchester United, boasting a strong defensive record to go with their explosive offensive unit.

Finally Foxcroft was able to engineer an FA Cup victory, defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the final after Raheem Sterling converted after 12 minutes. Similarly, his side defeated Merseyside rivals Everton in the League Cup final 4-2, including the only goal of the season for Alvarez Balanta. However, 10 points wasn't enough to advance from a fiercely competitive Champions League group B, despite finishing with a +12 goal difference in large part due to Liverpool's 10 goal dismantling of Olympiakos. The Reds won their second consecutive Community Shield with a 2-1 win against Manchester United.

I'm hopefully gonna update this regularly. There's still a season I've missed out but I'm otherwise busy so I'll type that up when I can. If I'm gonna keep it up I'll sort out some chronology stuff and make it look cleaner in general.
