I like how you can send the captain to talk to players about playing time. I've sent the BFG after 2 people who complained, and afterwards, they "dropped their concerns about 1st team football."

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Started unemployed and took over Bromley in October, who were wallowing at the bottom of the Vanarama National League. It's been a rough start in the league, but I got out of the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup and entered into the first round proper against Shrewsbury - who sit 12th in League One.
My team is quite bad, so I expected to get trounced. This happened:
Had a few chances that could have won this one, which was disappointing in a way because this was at home and now the replay takes place on their turf. Oh boy.
Then...THIS happened.
I'm pretty sure I FM'ed FM. I've never been so lucky, probably had 4 or 5 goal line clearances, team was gassed for the entirety of extra time. It was a dadgum miracle. Props to my GK for making an epic save in the shootout.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So after taking a fair amount of time off from FM17 I returned to my journeyman save. Got fired from Leeds for finishing mid table in the first full season. I've now signed with Pribram in The Czech Republic. I'm hoping to stay here until I can get some European football in.
They are a decent side and have some money and also a crazy good youth academy. But haven't managed more than mid table in the last decade in this save. It looks like most of the teams money comes from selling off all their great youth prospects. So I'll turn that around and hopefully build a solid team from a youth system for a change.
Also this league has been on fire. I don't know where they start, but I'm pretty sure its not this high. 11th in the rankings. Winner of league getting group stage, and cup winner get group in Europa. So that is interesting to see.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Just played probably the most insane game of FM I've ever played.
wall of text, lol
SpoilerGot drawn against Barcelona in the Champions League QF. I was relatively confident in my team, but after we drew 1-1 at home in the first leg, I was not feeling good.
Started out the game at Camp Nou, and we're playing pretty well. Kane gets on the board in the 38th minute with a penalty to make it 1-0. Rock on. But Messi equalizes shortly before half time. Get to the locker room tied 1-1, 2-2 on aggregate. Both have an away goal. Could be worse.
Suarez scores shortly after the break, down 1-2. Damn. Then in the 63rd minute, Eric Dier scores off a corner! Tied 2-2! We have two away goals, we're in position to go through!
Dele Alli scores in the 71st minute! Dream land! Up 3-2, 4-3 on aggregate!
Neymar scores 2 minutes later. 3-3, 4-4 on aggregate. Boooo. But, still going through on away goals. If we can just lock it down for the last ~17 minutes, we'll be OK. Immediately after the goal is scored I go defensive. 4-1-2-3, move Dier back from CM to CDM. Switch my fullbacks from At/Su to De/De, the whole thing.
About 10 minutes later, 81st minute, a horror mistake from Rugani, my young CB, and Suarez bags his second. Noooooo. 3-4, 4-5 aggregate.
Alright, need a goal. Go back to my standard control tactic with some more attacking instructions. Bring on some fresh legs. The clock is not our friend, ticking away fast. Then in the 86th minute Ben Davies gets hurt at LB. No subs left. Guess I'm rolling with 3 at the back for the rest of the game, can't afford to lose an attacker chasing a goal.
90th minute. Looking real bleak. We get a corner, send it in, ping pongs around in the box, and who else but ERIC ****ING DIER bags his second of the game!!!!!! Off a deflection, it was ugly, but we'll take it in the second minute of stoppage time!!! 4-4, 5-5 on aggregate! Going through on away goals!
Immediately switch back to park the bus. There's only like a minute or two left before we'll get a whistle and be heading back to London victorious. But you can never be too careful.
Barca immediately pumps the ball into the box and we haul down Neymar. It's a penalty. 90+3'. Surely this is it. Messi steps up to take it. Our 5,000 travelling fans have their heads in their hands. Messi runs up, strikes the ball, and LLORIS SAVES IT!!!! Pandemonium!!!!!
Shortly after, the whistle is blown, and we are through to the next round!!!!
I think my roommate legitimately thinks I'm crazy now. Started out just quietly fist pumping goals. But Dier's goal and Lloris' save, I full on yelled and double fist pumped. LOL

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
One of my neighbors and I leave around the same time in the mornings for our jobs, so an occasional greeting or short chat is exchanged in the parking lot. Well, the morning after my FM antics, he asks me if everything is OK.
I put on my best English accent and said, "Football manager, mate," hoping there was a small chance he was a fellow FMer. He gave me the most blank stare ever and I had to simplify it by saying "just a stupid game."
