When you skip your lunch break (gym) and smash Chelsea 4-0 at The Emirates.

    I love this game.

Note: Hope this doesn't make them reel off 13 straight wins...

Relegation was rough, but here we go with what is normally my final save of the year.

Almost through the first January window at Arsenal. Just had an £80M bid rejected for Icardi. Not sure I am willing to go any higher. Haven't bought anyone else in the window, lol.

I keep 'declaring interest' and then 'make an inquiry (well, Arsene does)--but keep getting the 'not for sale at any price' (Sule, Tah, Icardi). Is this common, I assume?

It can be pretty common with players of that quality. If you really want Icardi, try unsettling him until the summer window opens. Send a scout to continue watching him, even attend a game or two yourself - the media will report on it. Since he's such a high value target, declare him as your top transfer target(if you haven't already).

It doesn't always work, but with these little tactics you can at least attempt to unsettle him at the club. Best-case scenario, he forces a move away and you might even get him at a lower price as the club want to rid of a problem in their dressing room. Worst-case, you don't get him - just have some backup plans.

I tapped up Dybala from February so hard, even Liverpool would blush, got him for £68m for Arsenal

              A bargain indeed.

I haven't brought anyone in this window...shocker, right?

I'm leading the league (by 3 points over spurs) and feel pretty good about the squad.

I've gone after young/high pot CB (Sule, Tah, Romagnoli), all to no avail.

Palace, Everton, and Swansea have all requested Rob Holding on loan--NOPE.

Southampton have come after Jenkinson twice, but I'm hanging on to him for RB depth--as Debuchy is my only (natural) backup.

Young players with very high potential are the hardest to get, especially if they are a key player for their current club. You really have to go after them and hope they get unsettled and/or want to join you. Otherwise expect to pay way over value.

United bought Icardi for 130MM in my current FM universe.

Can you guys elaborate a little more on how I 'unsettle' a player? N00b, I know--sorry.

Do what NoDakHusker said in the text you quoted. Set the player as your top transfer target. Then assign a scout to watch all his games. Every time something comes up in the media about the player, say you want them and are pursuing them. If you have free time when they are playing a match, go watch the match yourself. The media will report that you were there and the player will know this.

Then make a cheeky bid for the player. If the player value is 25M, bid 25M. No addons or anything. Don't suggest, just make the bid. They will reject it. Don't negotiate over, cancel/walk away. At that point the player will know you made a bid and his current team rejected it. If the player wants to join you, he will become unhappy and start making a fuss at his current team.

Some times you don't even need to declare them as a transfer target. Some times just making the bid and having it rejected is enough. If the player already wants to join you. Or your teams world reputation is higher than his current. Or if they aren't in the CL and you are.

In addition to all those things, the best way to start it all is to straight up go to the press and declare interest. Go to the player's screen and under the Interactions menu there is an option to declare interest. This will prompt a reporter to ask you about the player immediately.

Decided to start a journeyman save.....National A License....Sunday League Experience.

Who would be willing to give a job to an American like this?

Worcester in the English Vanarama National League North...that's who.

This squad is loaded with a bunch of has-beens milking the wage bill. Hell, the board favored signing high profile players (In the National League North?!?!?!?!). I said "nope, we'll sign young players for the first team".

                            Yeah...this squad was ****.

However, a team meeting with six games to go, a board demand that I score six points in five games, and I just pulled off a great escape. Won five of my last six to stave off relegation, including wins against three teams in the top half who had nothing more to play for. Even won a manager of the month award for that achievement.

                            Now to rebuild this squad.

I got annoyed with my fullbacks so I sold all of them and is just going with 3back until the next transfer window.....I feel like I overreacted but oh well.

In national team news, I managed to get 6 wonderkids from my academy. 1 already declared with Italy and got in a game, 1 got called up but hasn't gotten a CAP because of Donnarumma, 3 plays for Italy's youth squad and last one with my national team. I'm hoping the other 4 doesn't get a CAP with Italy in the next few years and plays for my team.

Things are looking good, just got to hold this form (won 7 in a row I believe).

Got Atletico Madrid in the knockout stage this week, followed by West Ham in the FA Cup.

I'm also in the EFL Cup Final vs Manchester United; and JUST lost Cech for 2-3 weeks. He'll miss the Atletico 1st leg and the Man United EFL Final. Boo.
