Went back to 22 , logged in 201 hours on 23 but my games are laggy and the dumb defense errors that happen are ruining the game for me. It needs another patch to sort those things out for me to go back.

I haven't seen too many dumb defensive errors (at least none that I can't attribute to being low level) but my wingers are very dumb.

I'm hoping its a byproduct of being low level but multiple times each match they will dribble all the way to the end line and then just sit there until a defender de-posses them. Sometimes I get a corner out of it, but usually its a clearance or loss of possession.

The pause and wait for defender to take possession happens everywhere, but it really grinds my gears whenever it happens just outside the box.

Real life Zidane may have turned down the USMNT offer, but in my FM save he did accept the job at Chelsea. They fired Potter mid-November while sitting 15th in the table. The current EPL table is fun. Crystal Palace is dead last, and rounding out the would-be relegation clubs are Fulham and West Ham.

I slotted Chelsea, DC United, and Hellas Verona as my favorite teams. The Blues would be my "endgame" job but I'm hoping to get on at Hellas as an intermediate step.

I finally took the plunge on 23, after only playing 21 and 22 sparingly, I'm ready for a deeper dive. After browsing clubs for ages, I've settled on Valencia. I'm a young, defensively minded Italian coach and I love love love that they don't want me to play in an attacking style. No, I always try that, boring.

Plus, after I started the save and only after I realized (of course) the current assistant coach is a pretty decent Italian coach (duh, Gattuso's pal). Actually, the coaching staff Gattuso leaves behind is pretty decent overall.

Now to spend countless hours before even thinking about moving the day forward—woo! Well, with a few breaks to continue contributing to the cut out faces megapack.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Feel like this is going to be one of those make-or-break signings:
            Spoiler

For reference my current strikers are Nicolo Amadori who I have on loan, and Eduardo Priore. Amadori is killing it for me and my leading goalscorer. He's on the last year of his deal so my goal was to poach him away, but he refuses to entertain signing with us. That leaves Priore as my striker for next season and just...no. I can't place my finger on why but he just plays like garbage. My attacking play grinds to a halt with him on the pitch. So enter this Hungarian giant. Got him on $60k/yr but in order to get him to sign I did have to add some hefty bonuses. Basically he will push $100k if he leads the league in goals and makes the division first team. Was able to keep his appearance fee down so if performs as well as I hope he gets paid, but if he underperforms it won't sink me.

However, Hellas Verona fired their manager first week of January and on a whim I applied thinking I would get laughed at (its my first year in Serie C after all) but somehow I am the leading candidate and just finished my interview. If I get offered the job I'm torn on accepting it vs holding out at Virtus until a desirable English side opens up. I'm anxious to see how this unfolds.

My January transfer window has been a complete success. I was able to both improve my squad and cut payroll.

*I terminated the loan of Matt Lemons (name could be wrong) because he was really struggling to stay healthy plus I was paying 50% of his salary and that made him around one of my top ~8 highest paid players. A second choice defender who can't stay healthy being one of my highest paid players? Nah yall take him back.

*I sold one player and getting his salary off my books allowed me to sign Fabbro's eventual replacement on a free. I wanted to resign Fabbro but the starting point for him was $77k/yr and I can't justify that.

*I was able to poach a player I had on loan (Zarpellon) and extend all the guys I wanted that were on expiring deals. And the best part is I was able to do it with no effect on my payroll. Any pay raise to one I was able to offset by lowering the salary of another.

*My one miss is this guy: https://sortitoutsi.net/football-man...wande-roaldsoy
I have him on loan and he was the main one I wanted to poach, but Atalanta extended him thru 2025. I'm really tempted to see if paying the transfer fee is feasible because I have him as my second team mezzala (behind Zarpellon) and he is killing it for being 18 and only rated as two stars

So for next season my first team is pretty much set. I just need to scour the free transfer market for some depth signings and potentially bring in an upgrade at one of my midfield positions, but also thinking about switching to a 2 striker formation. Thinking it could be worth trying because that 6'7" Hungarian is going to be able to win every damn jump ball and could head it on to his partner.

We currently sit third in the table 5 points ahead of Juventus NG with Pro Vercelli and Pordenone tied for the top spot but 7 points ahead of me (not confident I can catch them). Strongly considering one more season here to make a run at Serie B.

              Current Table:
              Spoiler

              Next season's projected changes:
Move Galeotafiore to first team DM
Move Marco Amadio to to MCR (Lonardi wants to explore his options)
AMR Fabbro will walk, replace with Marozzi
Likely sell Danti, replace with Alberico (iffy on this, Alberico has not performed well)
Loan for Amadori ends, replace with Novak.

Not sure if you've tried these yet, but I really love these squad views: https://www.fmscout.com/a-fmscout-es...m23-views.html

For as much as I love FM, the UX/UI is still among the more infuriating things about it, so I generally try and cram as much information into screens as possible so I can do less clicking.

Also in my experience being a "leading candidate" just means you won't get the job lmao. I can't actually remember the last time I got a job after the fans or whomever declared me a "Leading Candidate" one of those things I feel is telegraphed a little too much in FM.

I love two-striker formations in lower leagues, love setting up with a DLF-TM and that Hungarian guy looks like my ideal lower-league Target Man(technically would not meet my fitness requirements, but we make exceptions).

Ah final thing, I don't know about anyone else, but my salaries are always on a per week basis, it allows you more minute control over the wage structures if you're a little lazy like me and don't want to type exact numbers into contracts.

Most people do salaries on a weekly basis but yearly just seems natural to me. If I switch it would be too monthly to match the finances setup.

I've set up my own custom views already that show attributes I value the most grouped by position groups. Then I have my advanced stats view

Yeah when I first started, I did yearly because that's how I understood salaries, found myself in a lot of financial trouble though until I switched p/w.

Good to hear you have your own views too, I start with that pack, then edit them to my liking. I saw your screenshot and was worried you might use the regular view.

Impressive work all the same, glad to see you're getting stuck in!

Apologies, my words were misleading, that is a pack of views, not all are used with the squad, that is the the Scouting view, when you're in the Scouting Centre, under "Players in Range"

Nah, you were clear—they all worked except that one and it was because 'Players in Range' was the only view I hadn't tried it in before giving up.

I use the Data Analyst camera in 3d, which may as well be 2d.

My camera depends on what stage of the build I'm in. If I'm largely comfortable with my squad, I normally just put on extended highlights and use the directors camera. If I'm in an evaluation period or uncertain about multiple positions/backups I use Data Analyst and Comprehensive Highlights. If I'm screen sharing with my home computer on my tablet, I normally use 2D and Key Highlights, though that is based more on tradition than anything since the graphical output doesn't change much between 2D/3D these days.
