Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

I got the logo and facepacks from sortitout but this steam workshop item is just club and competition name fixes. Doesn't really do what it says on the tin.

But this is one of those times where ignorance is bliss helps. Since I'm not super knowledgeable the errors don't jump out at me. The only reason I was even aware of this one was because I checked the real life table to see how it compares and was like wayment someone is missing.

Whats the problem with the German national team? That may be big enough for me to restart as I have an eye towards international management.

Sortitoutsi has a pretty active discord channel as well. I get all my mods from there other than kits, which I get direct from FM Slovakia.

The players simply will not exist, and existing players will not get called up.

Bit the bullet and went ahead and restarted with a proper rename fix and realism pack.

It seems Verona's financial situation was a little iffy as the realism pack slashed player salaries and cut the wage budget from ~$1.9M to $1.4M. Top 4 salaries were basically cut in half.

Are you using Dave's from Sortitoutsi (https://sortitoutsi.net/content/6165...by-daveincid)? In FM22, his realism megapack added so much to the game.

Can you load this mid save or would I have to start over again?

              Edit: Nevermind found my answer.

Just as an fyi, remember to do the files(dbc, edt, inc) fix every time the game updates, or it'll revert a lot of the changes since they are game files.

I used to love majesticeternity's files to make the managers smarter, make injuries realistic, and the youth tournament stuff but since they are no longer doing it this will be my first year using Dave's. Looking forward to it post January update.

                    Yep yep.

I don't know if its due to his megapack but AI managers are a bit smarter when it comes to loaning players out. In my first runs AI managers were like yeah no problem we'll loan this player out to you and don't worry about contributing to his salary or guaranteeing any playing time just take him. They are giving me requirements now though.

Got thru the first month and I'm excited about the players I brought in. I'm sure most people disable that first transfer window but nah, I got deals to make

The megapack definitely brings a lot more to an already great game.

Speaking of making deals, you should check out this video on "Moneyball in Football Manager":

I was going to do something similar just on a much smaller scale.

Was going to do something like get all the players within a league and every stat the game has to offer and just see what I could come up with.

I have a small background in statistics so after my first season I was planning on devising some metric that accounts for league quality.

When Suntan asked me to post a screenshot of my expenses and I discovered I could export actual tables from the game my nerd brain went crazy thinking of everything I could do with that. Calculate the league average for goals per 90 for a first team striker and then use that to calculate an individual players g/90 relative to the rest of his league? oh mah gawd

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

after a week of tinkering, i finally got my FM21 file right. december '22 start date, 125k players, a handful of playable leagues and a dozen or so view onlys. there is a (turkish!) august '22 transfer file on the workshop that i used, but had to amend slightly to correct number of teams in leagues. logos, kits, facepack (including the NewGan one!), all good to go.

i ran the sim for 15 years and was really happy with the results so i decided to use the setup for a journeyman save. when it was all set up, i realized that MLS was fried with a 1/1/1900 start date. i tried a hundred things and ended up corrupted a few of the original saves, lol. finally i learned the issue was inherently starting MLS that far into the future, and found a USA pro-rel file to integrate into my save file. basically, the MLS has to be deleted one way or another in order to get the USA leagues to sim in the future. i did not use the 'jpmorgans league' one that someone made - it only had 18 mls teams and created a ton of errors with the CCL. instead, the one i chose has 3 divisions of 24 teams. each division has 3 groups of 8 - 8th place is automatically relegated, each 7th place team plays against the 2nd place team from each 3rd division group. its a neat system but i have no idea how the finances work.... hopefully i'm not back in the editor later today.

once again, got everything set up, had the past major european results all looking correct. saved the game (to use as a base), tried to load it, got an error message. devastation.

eventually reinstalled the game and combed through my editor files to eliminate all the ones that seemed to interfere with the new USA set-up. fixed those. started it up... it works! had to run the (very, very long) game set up twice to feel ok about the CL/top league results, but it works. saved a base version on the cloud, never deleting another file off my computer again.

so i am starting a journeyman save, which i've not really ever committed myself to. the USA pro rel has 3 pro divisions and an amateur division (top three are playable)... i applied for 2 d2 jobs and 2 d3 jobs - didn't get either d3 job, didn't get the memphis 901 job... but i have been hired by the recently promoted Oakland Roots of the USL Championship.

Haha, oh man, when I had a job that was... less involved than the one I'm currently in, I used to export so much data from FM into excel and just tinker around seeing what anomalies I could find, had so much fun putting together a team of anomalies. It was also great, because it was a color-coded spreadsheet with a ton of numbers on it and a bunch of undecipherable stuff if you've never played FM, so whenever someone would walk by, I didn't even really have to worry about closing it, because no one would ever ask a question.

Back in FM18-19 I had a made myself a fully customized US database with pro/rel but with basically all of the normal naming conventions, and made a bunch of different cups, I always think about sitting down and recreating it, but ever since they changed the editor skin to the eye-bleeding purple, I don't do much for edits outside of adding my friends in as coaches, and a few media personnel as well. At the same job I mentioned above, I had a bunch of notes around my cubicle about divisional and cup structures to make sure that the fixture list would never get too congested, especially with the mid-December through February "Winter Break" as I changed the US over to the Euro schedule. One day I may venture back into editing land, but I've found myself pretty contented to try others creations.

I think once I grow tired of this journeyman save i'm going to load up the Cartagena file I've seen on FM Scout and give that a go (https://www.fmscout.com/a-cartagena.html)

Somehow, someway, I managed to squeeze away the title from Bayern in my second year, felt a bit disillusioned at Gladbach though, they want me to spend money out of my ears, and I'm more of a sign one or two big first team starters, and supplement elsewhere with youth, which basically caps me out at a B-. So it's time to give up this save. Downloaded a bunch of packs, and after looking around Cartagena, I decided against it. The division logos not existing except the top flight, and me not really wanting to design other logos means I'm kind of off it. Debating looking around for a US Pyramid, or I might take over a club from an ancient greek city and try and commit to them becoming a powerhouse.
