It's not so much the better teams I have trouble with. I can accept drawing or losing away from home against a better team. And usually I can hang with strong teams and sneak a win here and there. It's the weak teams I'm baffled by. I can't seem to put goals away and end up losing 0-1 or drawing 1-1 quite often against teams I should have no trouble with. Do you all have a different formation on the road? Do you start out with a different general philosophy? I just don't know what I'm doing wrong when I can crush a team 4-0 at home and suddenly have no clue in their stadium.
If you're using the tactic generator, just drop your starting tactic down a couple notches. At home, I'll start out on "attacking" against weak teams or "control" against teams who will pose a bit of a problem. Against much stronger teams, I'll come out in "standard" or "counter" depending on their strengths. Away from home, I'll usually start in "standard" or "counter" against 90% of the teams and "defensive" against the much better ones. If you're doing it manually, drop a little deeper, tick off "counter attack", and increase your pass length. I'm by no means that good of a manager, but I hold my own away from home.

      A must-read in my opinion.
