I first called it a very smart tackle. Both him and Arshavin's. They obviously knew how many of their guys were on the wrong side of the ball and wanted to stop the counter attack. Seemed like the ref realized that.

Stuff like that are deemed card worthy in most leagues. So its no surprise that Cesc was booked for that. Doesn't really matter anyway, as he is out regardless.
It would be a miracle if we won anything at this point. I really have no idea why this team is so injury prone. Arsene really needs to look into that.
All teams go through injuries, but not at the rate we do.Comment

There are too many matches played in the Premier League. 38 league matches, all the cup competitions (domestic & foreign), WC qualifiers, and friendlies is way too much. A guy gets hurt and they rush him back to the club only to re-aggravate it or hurt something else that is related to it.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
its the nature of the sport
Rooney ,Hargreeves @ ManUre
every first choice defender except Terry plus Joe Cole @ Chelski
everton has had all 11 starters out for an extended period and had all 11 out for 2 weeks AT THE SAME TIME in december
Liverpool have lost Torres and Gerrard for extended periods this season.
The scum cant field the same defence 2 games in a row
Man city have lost 3 strikers for a number of weeks
and Villa have had numerous problems all season especially upfront
so thats the top eight not counting us
If we Beat Totingscum and Man city and the Manure chelski game is a draw and they both drop another 2 points we will win the title on goal difference Probably
its not likely but these "kids" have been playing together for 3 years now and they are starting to develope into a really solid team
any one want to discuss how poor Diaby Song Denilson and Bendtner are??? like we all did 2 years ago Denilson song and Diaby inability to pass the ball to someone wearing red and white was the stuff of legends and god how we all bitched lol myself included
the core of the team is getting better and better and there is no reason for anyone to leave for 2-3 years. So as an Arsenal fan for 33 years Id preach a little patience and hope for a little luck
bear in mind ive waited 17 years before for a title so 5 years is no biggie"whats wrong with him?""he's got a concussion boss""can he play?""boss he does nt know who he is!""well tell him he's Pele and get him fecking back on"BFR manager of WBA 1978Comment

Well said goonertaff, you're completely dead on.
All the top teams have suffered serious injuries this year and we're no different. The fact that we've stayed in the race is a positive sign for us because if we were fully healthy, we'd be an even better side
I'm not in favor of splashing the cash right now because I like our team. We need a strong goalkeeper and maybe Chamakh on a free, but we have a good competitive team. The best thing is that we haven't had to spend a ton of cash to do it.
United have spent boatloads on players - Nani, Anderson, Tevez, Hargreaves and of course, Berbatov
Chelsea basically bought their entire squad minus John Terry. Liverpool have also spent a lot on mediocre players with the exception of Mascherano and Torres.Comment

Were still hanging on. I don't think I can take too many more matches like we have had the past month and a half.
Also some good news regarding the Barca tie. Zlatan will not be involved.

And bad news, as Song is out with a groin injury. So four out from the 11 that started the first leg (Cesc, Song, Arshavin, Gallas).
PS - Three points from the weekend. Still very much in the title race mathematically, even if it's long odds...Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
c'mon... we can win tonight. We just need Walcott to start and play Nasri in centre mid. Pujol and Pique are both out so hopefully we can do something in the air. Hopefully we can keep Messi quiet again but that will be very hard to do.
If only Arshavin was healthy so he could do the oldto the Barca croud
Lets do this!Comment

I definitely think if we keep it close, we'll have a chance late, because I see the same thing happening as it did last time. They'll close us down like mad, but after 60 minutes, they'll be far more tired than we are due to this. It is then that we can hopefully exploit them down the flanks.
There will definitely be plenty of this, no matter if we're down or up, that is for sure.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
If Theo doesn't start then it will be Eboue... who is not the best winger. I think that our best chance of scoring is by using the flanks and getting some crosses to Bendtner since they are missing their two main centre backs.
I agree with plenty of. If we win i will get drunk in celebration and if we lose i will have to drown my sorrows lol!
