Diaby might be on the outs anyway. Wilshere has outplayed him thus far and when Ramsey comes back, that could push him down further. I thought he was pretty solid last season, but yes, consistency and mental lapses are his biggest flaws.

He does offer some size and strength in the midfield, but has never really used that to his advantage

Hmm. I guess I see Wilshere and Ramsey fighting over the same spot for now. I think once Ramsey is completely back in form he could push Diaby out of that spot, though.

Plus, once Walcott is back that puts Nasri back in midfield possibly, or rotating with Arshavin. The more fit we get, the more interesting it gets. I love it.

I think they can both play both midfield positions so long as they have some strength like Song for a physical presence. The future of the Arsenal midfield are those 2 IMHO

Part of me wonders now if Wenger will sell Cesc this summer if guys like Nasri, Wilshere, and Ramsey continue to improve. Obviously, I DO NOT want Cesc to leave, but would a 40-50 million pound offer change Wenger?

At this point, I honestly don't know if we'll get an offer for him. We know it's going to take a huge fee for us to sell, and Barcelona are in some serious debt, with a new president who is rather concerned about getting it under control.

I don't see anyone else coming in for him, and everyone (Barca, Cesc, Wenger, Arsenal) knows that one day Cesc will go there, so I don't think they'll be too concerned if he goes now or in another few years.

While I want Cesc to wear an Arsenal shirt forever, I do feel confident in our squad that we can fill his void if he goes. In terms of putting someone in Cesc's spot directly, I think Nasri is showing he can play that role and Ramsey was before went out.

Diaby came off in the Chelsea game iirc. Hasn't been back since.

Diaby's spot is definitely under threat but I think Denilson will be sold before Diaby will. Denilson is more consistent but when both are at there peak Diaby is the more dangerous player. He also gives up some size to deal with set pieces and such when playing the bigger more physical teams in the league.

Diaby is also Fench, and Denilson - not.

I think Diaby would be starting if he was fit [ankle]. Wenger seems to really like Song/Diaby in the midfield. And I personally like the Diaby option over Denilson.

I don't see how you guys can automatically think that once Ramsey gets back his place is set. I know he's not going anywhere but the guys ahead of him have shown much more.

No one has said his place is set...He will have to get back to full match fitness and get back to where he was before the injury. But we also think he has a very high ceiling and will get better to where the others are.

Before the injury, he was getting better and better with each game. Wenger likes him a lot and that does count for something. He won't start ahead of Nasri, Cesc, or Wilshere at this point, but he's one of the key building blocks for Arsenal's future.

I think his place is set next year or the year after, but not this year. He's set to resume full training next week, which is amazing news. I don't think he'll be plugged straight back into the squad, but like Perceptor said, he has a high ceiling and I think it's only a matter of time before he once again see's regular action.

Alex Song comes through big. I hope the goals continue. He's avatar worthy now.

Nice to see Clichy and Song step up when most of our match winners just didn't look up for it. Song will get all the credit but Clichy's ball was just brilliant and those are the kind of balls that we need from our fullbacks.

Very nerve racking game, as you gotta win games against the bottom of the table club at home if you wanna be a title contender.

We also had some bad breaks. Nasri and Walcott hit the post and I thought we were heading down the same path where we'd get burned. However, Song saved us and we got the 3 points

Looking forward to RVP coming back as well as Wilshere from suspension

BTW - we get Wigan in the CC quarterfinals.

That's a great draw. I know it's just the CC, but damn it, I want a trophy!

As for the game on Sat., Arsenal always seems like a team that can snatch a goal at the last possible second. I feel like I've seen more miracle late goals from Arsenal than any other team. On that same note, I've always seen way too many games where they dominate but don't score/win, so it was nice to see them finally come away with one of those games.

Song has got his shooting boots on this season. 4 in all competitions already!

BTW, that is a great draw for you guys in the cup.
