Well, at least we gained a point. Hopefully at the end of the season, that proves to be a huge point and not a huge two points we lost.

Just imagine, we could be two off United right now. Ahhhh!

I know. I'm still pissed. I really hope this doesn't kill the confidence we've gained from recent games, and I really hope Nasri gets back quickly.

Check out my post in the EPL thread for further thoughts on the Diaby situation.

As for our confidence, we won't know until next week. I'm hoping this team is mentally strong enough at this point to bounce back, though.

          Well said Arsene:

On whether Diaby has said anything to him about the incident…
He is very disappointed at the moment, it’s better not to talk to him. He has to try to get over that. It’s a shame because he had a great first half. He had an outstanding game. [His reaction could be] explain[ed] by the fact that he has been injured so many times [from] bad tackles that he lost a little bit quickly his nerves. This boy has been out for a long time and many times. Certainly the tackler provoked his reaction.

            Unreal.

How in the hell do you give up a 4-0 halftime lead. I know Phil Dowd was utter crap but still that is unexcuseable if you ask me.

Good thing United lost as that would probably been a wrap on our chance to win the league. Still could be, as losing games like this usually leads to quite a bit of points dropped in upcoming fixtures.

Oh where do I start with this one....

              1. Diaby - I have to agree with Kreb. He deserved to be sent off, but I can't fault him for his reaction. Barton should have been sent off and it was a bad tackle. Just ridiculous that thug wasn't sent off. I freaking despise Barton and his thuggery.

              2. We were brilliant in the opening 20 minutes. Walcott was a menace and we cut open Newcastle and their bad defense. 4-0 up was great to see and I was amazed at how easy this was

              3. The fact we went up by so many so fast ended up costing us. The team were complacent in the 2nd half and Diaby's sending off didn't help. Having said that, there is NO excuse for blowing a 4 goal lead in football. It reminded me of the Spurs game where the entire team stopped playing. Dowd was bad, but when it comes down to it, the team did nothing to curb the Newcastle attack.

Koscielny for me was awful. He was shaky in the 1st half, but because we were 4 up, it didn't matter. He was just all around terri-bad in the second half. Ughh

Having said all this, I'm glad United lost because we still have some sort of chance to catch them. However, this result might have really hurt the confidence of a team who had been doing well in recent weeks. I'm pissed right now

As crazy as it sounded, I did realize earlier that we went up too fast. While you shouldn't give up that lead, we basically gave them too much time to come back. Still, nonsense, but being up so soon did cost us in a way.

I don't think the Barton tackle was 'thuggish' Was it a bad challenge? Yes, and it probably deserved a red, but I think this particular challenge came down to a lack of skill from Barton rather than thuggery. Now, the Nolan thing on the Arsenal keeper was pretty bad

Barton's past with such tackles make it thuggish. It's not a matter of his lack of skill, because there are occasions where he makes fantastic tackles, taking the ball and barely touching the man.

However, he has a history of making awful challenges that put players safety on the line. He has a reputation for a reason.

Here are some examples of his past work.

Wilshere made a comment after the match via Twitter, but then deleted it. Of course, it still exists on the internet.

I say it's worth a fine, Jack. There were some awful decisions in that game and referees need to be publicly criticized for inconsistency.

I used to read the Telegraph, but not after this garbage.

                        http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...d-one-day.html

                        Two quotes from the article...

Wenger felt wronged because he believed [incorrectly] that referee Phil Dowd had erred when sending off Abou Diaby for pushing over Joey Barton after a crunching, but fair, tackle.
Fair? You've got to be kidding me.

He was also left smarting by Dowd’s [correct] decisions to award Newcastle two penalties as his defence disintegrated in the face of the home side’s revival.
Laughable. First was correct, second was one of the worst calls I've seen in awhile. Let's not forget that the foul that lead to the free kick to set up the equalizer was from a Joey Barton dive as he felt a shoulder in his back.

Big middle finger to the Telegraph. I don't expect 100% unbiased reporting, but 95% would be appreciated.

It seems the English football media still thinks the country is at war with France.

There's talk that Djourou could be out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage. You guys have the worst luck with injuries.

This could mean The Verm comes back earlier than expected, which hopefully doesn't backfire.

At this point, I want to cry when I think about Barcelona running at Squillaci and Koscielny.

If that it is the pairing we have in the back against Barcelona we will be ran off of the pitch. I think we lose and lose convincingly either way, but with those two at the back it will get downright embarrasing.

Yeah we were already in tough with Barca, but without Djourou and leaving our back four to slow as hell Squillaci and shaky and shaky Koscielny, I'm scared
