Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***

I'd like to thank Chelsea for beating United this afternoon as that means we are still in the title race. We could be one point back if we win our game in hand and anything goes

Lampard's PK is the difference, way to go Chelsea (man, I can't stand Chelsea - and never wanted them to win so badly before, ever).

I have hope for our boy's as well. I just hate the niggling injuries we always seem to have at a critical moment in a season. I hope you guys are right about the big Dane and Chamakh. Chamakh was so impressive early and then just fizzled - would love to see that early season player again.

I think the FA Cup is our only shot. Without the 3 pieces mentioned, Barca should prove to be more deadly than they were in the first leg. In the League I can see us dropping a few crucial points because of a lack of experience and inconsistency in front of goal. The FA Cup though, should provide us with the best chances to play through these injuries and lift something. Still very happy with what we've accomplished this year, disappointed at what could have been, and have to say I still hate injuries.

Why is everyone so gutted about RVP. The dude can't stay fit and never will be able to stay fit, plain and simple.

So it isn't some huge shock that dude got hurt.

Right, so instead of just being gutted that our best goal scorer in the past several games is out for three weeks, we should just be upset that he can't stay fit. Because it's always his fault he's injured. With all that taking ridiculous tackles in international friendlies or injuring his knee while scoring a near impossible equalizer in a cup final.

Yeah, let's just sell him and cash in while he's still alive.

Or, we could continue to just be gutted, as perhaps we were simply excited to see him getting the chance to be back and playing.

I'm never surprised when anyone is hurt, but it doesn't mean I'll sit back and look at those who are discussing how much of a blow it is to the team and look at them as if they're complete idiots.

Because he can't score/create goals when he isn't playing.

Each injury when taken individually may be the result of some ridiculous tackle or scoring an impossible equalizer, but when taken in the totality, there are just some players who are injury prone, and RVP is one of those players. I'm greatly disappointed that he is injured at such a crucial time, and I was hoping that this would be the year he went largely injury free, but I am not surprised or gutted as I expected this to happen. RVP just can't stay healthy.

Is there a difference between unlucky and injury prone? If so, I'd say he's unlucky. It's not as if he has muscle strains or hurts himself when running around. When we just throw the term "injury prone" onto him it sounds as if he's at fault when I do not believe he is.

To not be upset or gutted that he's out for three weeks and missing the Barca match simply because you expected it to happen, to me, seems a bit silly.

Like I said, if you expect him to be out and to just not play, then let's just sell him. I mean, he's never going to be fully fit and we should never expect him to play, so why even bother paying him? Let's just sell him now before he falls apart for good.

You can't seriously say with a straight face that RVP is not injury prone. There's a reason he gets injured so much, and it has more to do with his ligaments and bones being made of old rubber bands and dust. Not luck.

Could he be unlucky? Yes. But for me to believe he was unlucky, he would have to have demonstrated that he could he could play for prolonged periods without getting injured. But every year he misses significant portions of the season. I love the guy, I've got his jersey, and I hope he proves me wrong, but I'm not expecting that to happen. As to whether or not I should be gutted, it depends upon your definition of the term. I said earlier I was greatly disappointed, but to me, gutted means absolutely devastated, and if I expect his injury to happen, then that lessens the blow of the injury.

If Barca beats Arsenal in the 2nd leg I won't be gutted as I expect it to happen. I'll be upset, but not absolutely devastated (unless the game plays out similar to the CL game against Liverpool in 2008 where Walcott made his amazing run to put Arsenal up late on aggregate, and then they blow it two minutes later. I'll be devastated then due to the manner in which things played out).

Exactly. While it's possible he's just been unlucky, it's highly unlikely. He doesn't just get injured, he gets injured ALL THE TIME.

If RVP is indeed unlucky, then I feel really sorry for the guy because he is entering the Al Bundy zone of bad luck.

Come on fellas. The dude is injury prone, being unlucky means you get a couple of fluke injuries, not one every couple of months. The guy is made of porcelain.

I was upset the first 10 times the guy got injured. Now I just come to expect it.

Fine. Injury prone. Made of glass. Weak. Soft. Whatever.

But I'm still gutted due to knowing Bendtner can't score like RVP even if he had four legs and Chamakh forgot how to play football.

I love RVP, but the dude is injury prone. I'm gutted because as one of my favorite players, I love watching him play and him being injured sucks. Having said that, I remain optimistic that we will pull through and win something this season
