If we don't drop some dough after cashing in on Cesc. Wenger should be fired on the spot and I'm dead serious. If Cesc goes we have to find a quality replacement. Aaron Ramsey just isn't good enough at this point in time to step right in and replace Cesc, if we expect to keep a top 4 spot let alone mount a title challenge.

If people actually believe we can afford to let sale Cesc and not bring in some players to replace him then they are way overvaluing our talent.

Not saying you are by any means Natural. But there are some people that I have spoken with that think we could lose Cesc and still maintain a top 4 spot with out bringing in a replacement for him.

I agree and just to be clear, when I say Nasri could slide into his spot, I then mean someone has to be brought in to replace Nasri's old spot.

However, in not surprising news at all, Barca don't have a lot of money to spend. £45 million to be exact, before selling other players. Still, this is yet another point to show that Cesc may very well be staying put. All the talk last year was from the out going president. The second the new one stepped in, he said they must control their debt which is out of hand. Dropping what it will take to sign Cesc would not control their debt very well.

Right, what I was going for is that ultimately, I think Ramsey could be a great player and so I want him to continue to develop with the first team. At the moment, the loss of Cesc means an immediate need and I would expect the money that comes in from Cesc to go right back out the door, which is what you're saying as well.

Interestingly, the rumor mill (a la Twitter) is churning again on Eden Hazard speculation. A great player in the making...could we see Cesc out, Hazard in, and the contract signed by Nasri?

        Lineup in attack/midfield of:

        RVP
        Hazard - Nasri - Walcott
        Song - Wilshere
        Arsenal FC
        New England Patriots
        Boston Red Sox
        Boston Celtics

My post above only applies if Barca decide to sell others in order to bring in Cesc, of course.

Whether this is true or not is a different story but From "Nasri's agent"(via soccernet blog)

"Samir Nasri and Arsenal FC regret to announce that they failed to agree contract terms due to irreconcilable differences. My client would like to thank Arsenal fans for their support and hopes they understand that his motivations are not financially motivated. Samir has not yet made a decision regarding where he will play in future but he hopes that it will enable him to further his progress. to allow him to compete at the highest level befitting his talent. Thank you all. Arsenal FC have informed me that they will make their own statement early tomorrow morning. Thank you AM."

I have a feeling it's true and it's 100% money. Apparently he's had a deal waiting for him to sign for weeks if not months but has continued to say he wants more. If this is in fact true, the United rumors will surface again but I don't see that happening.

So, if it's true, how much do we ask for him? His agent publicly making this statement definitely doesn't help, but on the other hand we still get to make the call as it's not as if he's said he'll stay for another year.

              Could get interesting.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***

Saw an interesting report on Twitter this morning regarding Cesc, "Arshavin asked Fabregas if presents he gave Arsenal players were parting gifts. He said nothing...there is something behind this silence"

I read it and became a bit weary. I know that if we do sell him it won't be the end of the world and we will get the large amount of money we were asking for, but it would be a shame to see him go without winning something as captain. With Wenger planning to bolster the squad the way we need finally, it would be devastating to see us fall short again because we couldn't replace the special things he brings to the team. It's also a bit unnerving due to speculation that Arsenal are willing to accept less than asking price due to bringing in another 20 year old midfielder. We don't need more youth. We have tons waiting to step up when the time is right, but now is not it.

As for Nasri, I hope it's not true. Would be a shame to see him go so quickly after he established himself as a star for Arsenal and the EPL as a whole. I would love though if both Nasri and Cesc left and we used all the cash properly and built a team that won a trophy this coming season, just to show them they were too impatient and neither were the end all be all of the squad.

If we lose Cesc and Nasri it would be a devastating blow to the club. I don't know how we could improve the squad with that happening without spending an insane amount of money. Which I don't think there is a snow balls chance in hell of that happening.

Oh, and I have lost a crazy amount of respect for Samir Nasri. Obviously he is just another football mercenary. I think we could get a pretty good fee for him as long as he is open to moving somewhere other than United. If he will only go to United, we may be lucky if we break even.

I still think it's all media talk. It's entirely possible that the first thing we hear from player is "I've signed with Arsenal" - and I won't feel he's a mercenary. Negotiations for a higher wage are nothing new, and we have every reason to believe it's his agent causing the ruckus.

Of course, if it all goes wrong, the "I told you so" will be well-deserved.

I sure hope your right. I have probably been Nasri's biggest supporter on this board, so it really hurts me that he is wavering from Arsenal.

I just don't have a good feeling about this whole situation.

The talk was that United would give us £10 million. That is the number I saw this morning.

I really hope we find out soon if he's staying or going. If he's going, let's get it over with and try and find a replacement.

Where is Inter and AC Milan in all of this. I've always heard that both teams have been hot on the guys trail for the last few years. Getting those guys in for Nasri would be great in two ways.

                              1. It gets him out of England
                              2. It will drive his price up.
