    So, it seems to now be inevitable that Cesc is leaving, this season.

    Barcelona hope to have a deal for Cesc Fábregas in place by the end of the week, as the player prepares to help smooth the transfer

    So now the only thing I'm concerned about is the price. If we let him go for less than £40 million, we truly are Barcelona's Walmart.

      What's the general concensus of why they want to leave?

      Tired of how Wenger runs things?

        Cesc met with Wenger last year and decided to stay, and I believe the same thing might still happen this year. We have seen that Wenger can be quite persuasive, and the tabloids and transfer rumor sites keep setting deadlines that keep on passing. First it was July 1, then it was the start of preseason training, now it's the upcoming trip. Until I hear Cesc confirm himself that he wants a transfer or hear Arsenal confirm that the transfer is happening, I will still believe there's a good chance he stays. After all, Arsenal said that if Barca meet their valuation of Cesc, they'll sell. It clearly hasn't happened yet, and until it does, Cesc stays with the team. They will not bend to Barca (at least I hope not) because Cesc is not the type of player to pout and not try on the football pitch, and Arsenal do not have to sell. So either Barca pays up, or Cesc stays.

          The answer for Cesc is obvious and as for Nasri, he claims he wants trophies, but he wants money. He disappeared for the second half of the season last year, so he didn't even pull his own weight towards getting a trophy.

            Ambition and/or Money is why most player leave a club.

              In this case:

              Cesc = Ambition
              Nasri = Money

                Where do I start?

                Cesc: We all knew he would leave and I don't think he's staying. I will always love Cesc, but he wasn't himself last season and with his recent injury issues, who knows how often he'd play if he stayed.

                Clichy: 7 million is fine with me for a player who wasn't great defensively last season.

                Nasri: The one I get peeved about. More money? Trohpies? Really? He was nowhere to be found during the second half of last season when we needed him. CC Final, FA Cup, CL - he disappeared. He's a good player, but put your money where your mouth is.

                Wenger: I'll reserve my thoughts for my next post

                  The thing that gets me about Arsenal is why are they not buying players NOW before Fabregas goes? If they wait until after he is sold the value for all their targets will skyrocket because of the money they get from Cesc.

                    Apparently Cesc is meeting with Wenger today and will tell him he wants to leave. I believe it, but this happened the last two years as well, for sure last year. Plus, that is all fine and dandy, but at least it seems we're not going to fold on a price. If they want him, it's going to be more than the £35 million they've offered or are about to offer.

                    If for some awful reason we sell Nasri in the league, it better be for the £20-25 million that is being discussed. That, with the money from Cesc should all be used on replacements, including a CB or two.

                    I'm not giving up on this season until I see what we look like when it starts, but I'm becoming less and less optimistic.

                        Read an article that said due to Arsenal's limit on wages, it is difficult to sign top players.

                        Arsenal seems to have a lower cap on wages than other BPL top teams.

                          Don't need to worry about that. We won't have a chance to choke away a title next year. We won't be close enough first to do so.

                            Evidence? Other than hope, not really.

                            If it was on The Guardian, I read the same thing. It's kept us financially where we are for years, the issue is it's finally catching up to us in terms of performance.

                            Precisely. Unless there are some significant signings, we'll start the season playing for 3/4th. Maybe we can win the Carling Cup this year...ha.

                                I've never been as gutted as I was after that. I honestly thought I was going to throw up. Undone by that goal, after RVP equalized with that insane volley.
