Can't be true. I don't care how much 'bite' or whatever it is we need on this team. He's someone I never want associated with my club.
Yeah, there is no way that's true. He says he would only consider an offer from a CL club. The website then looks at which CL clubs would even have the slightest possibility of signing him. Arsenal needs more "bite?" There's the story: Arsenal want Joey Barton. Also, if it's true he's not being offered a contract after this season, clubs would be crazy not to just sign him on a free.

I wouldn't mind seeing Barton at the Club, at all. Despite his antics, he is a pretty good player, and we can get him cheap. If we aren't going to spend money on big name guys then we must take chances on guys like Barton.

For my money he is better than Parker.

It all depends. First, is he a first team regular? As if he's not, I worry he'll become trouble, considering he said he's England's best midfielder. Second, are his drinking issues and what not behind him?

I definitely think he can give Song a run for his money. Even if he doesn't, I think he would be the first midfielder off of the bench. So I don't think playing time would be much of an issue.

He has had two trouble free seasons at Newcastle so he may be maturing. You never know. I do know that if, and its a big if no question, you can keep him out of trouble that he is a twenty million pound talent that you can get for a quarter of the price. I don't think he is the best midfielder in England but I do think he is better than the likes of Parker, Barry, and Jordan Henderson the latter of which just went for 20 million.

I agree that his talent is a steal for the rumored price of £1.5 million, but Barton's trouble free isn't the same as everyone else's. There was still this gem last year...

After I calmed down from my initial reaction, I don't think it would be the the worst thing we could do. However, it seems to be like it's just a way for us to buy a tough midfield player, but without spending real money. In other words, he's cheap because it's a huge risk and we'd rather just take a risk than buy a sure thing for much more money.

Of course its cheap. That is why I'm all for bringing Barton in. Because that is the only way we are going to get a guy of his quality and experience in the defensive midfield role this year.

I figure its either him or Eric Frimpong challenging Song for playing time next year. I would much rather have Barton, issues or not.

Toughness in the PL is important. I'm behind this move but I don't think it will happen, just seems counter to Wenger's whole philosophy (buying French players or players from the French leagues).

Last part was a joke...kind of.

He's not going. They're in debt and will be the next several years. Plus, if they really wanted him, they'd be trying to get him first instead of other players as they've been doing the last few weeks.

If he stays, I have to say I feel differently about this summer's window. I always assumed he was out the door.

I think at this point I see Nasri leaving before he does. I love that Arsenal have stood their ground and forced Barca into looking like the fools for not paying for a player they apparently want so badly.

Also, saw on the Arseblog this morning that Roma are coming to London to have talks about Clichy. It's seeming like he might leave and I'm afraid that we'll simply replace him with Gibbs. Not ideal.

Clichy is as good as gone at this point. Now its just about getting the most money we can out of him, apparently Roma is offering more than Liverpool, so I say sell him to Roma.

I'm more than alright with seeing him go, as the only skill he seems to now possess is the ability to quickly recover...from all the mistakes he makes.

I just hope we replace him with a new player, but I doubt it.

I think we have to replace him with a new player. Gibbs is way too injury prone, and I'm sure Wenger knows it. The problem is, it doesn't look like there are a whole lot of quality left backs out there available for transfer.

If he was smart Wenger would be calling David Moyes to ask him what it would take to get Baines.

Whatever the case may be, he has to get some cover for Gibbs. No way can you trust that kid to stay healthy. And I don't want TV5 wasting away at LB all season because Wenger was too tight to spend money on some halfway decent cover for Gibbs.
