I know things are being done behind closed doors, but I'm dying for a signing. Although we could be waiting for July 1st to announce some things.
I know, while I love that Arsene and Arsenal both do things by the book when it comes to transfers and stay out of the media as much as possible, I hate it at the same time because it's hard to tell whether anything is actually being done. Not a huge fan of Mata but he is a great player and would definitely add to the squad in a positive way, let's hope he signs.

Assuming the reports are accurate, to me that's a sure sign that Arsene's committed to signings this summer and bolstering the squad. Even if we don't land him, I'm becoming more confident we won't leave empty handed.

Also, I think the lack of news on defenders may not be a bad thing, let's hope things break around the 1st as mentioned above.

Just curious as to who you guys would rather see signed as CB. Let's say you could pick between Cahill or Samba. Cost is out the equation. Who would you rather see in an Arsenal shirt next season?

After his **** defending at the end of last year and extra two inches of height, I'll go Samba. For the record, if we get either I'll consider it a positive move. If we get both, it's sizeable boost to the defense.

I don't think there is a chance we go after both and I don't think we need both. I think we need one to slot in with TV5 and Djourou goes to the bench but can also rotate in. Samba seems are more likely at this point, as we apparently tried to get him in January and he's also now publicly told Blackburn he wants to leave.

Also, just saw something a bit ago on Arenal's Facebook saying The Daily Mirror is reporting we'll announce three signings on the 1st. Most likely not 100% accurate, but I do think once July rolls around we'll be seeing some things take place.

Also, if there is something that speaks about what kind of club we are, it's that an £18 million bid for Mata would be our transfer record. That really puts things into perspective in terms of financially how our club is run.

Cahill without question. He is the much better all around defender and is very good at defending set pieces himself.

Barca have said they're preparing to make a £35 million bid for Cesc and they seem rather confident it will be successful.

I feel rather confident we tell them getting close, but they're not quite there.

Cesc to Barca is just about a done deal. No source to it, just reading between the lines of many articles and quotes

And just saw this on twitter, Word has it Cesc isnt in any of the new Kit Pics.

It's only a done deal if they meet Arsenal's valuation of the player. If they do not, then Cesc stays a Gunner. It's as simple as that.

                      Exactly.

Its like people think we are going to be forced to give them the player. We are willing to sell, but its up to Barca to pay the fee. This isn't the first time we have heard that Cesc to Barca is a done deal.

Indeed. It would seem though that the team is interested in cutting ties soon, especially given that leak from an Arsenal official about selling at the right price.

If nothing else, it frees up some of the wage bill once Nasri takes his cut. Not to mention that maybe a new captain (*cough*RVP*cough*) wouldn't be a bad thing for this particular group of players.

Regarding Barton: he's the guy that you hate until he's on your team.

If I were an Arsenal fan, I'd take him that cheap in a second.

I think we have been willing to cut ties since last summer given the price is right. The bottom line is until one of these so called rumors actually comes true and Cesc hands in a transfer request or tries to force his way out. We have the upper hand in the negotiations. I don't think its unfair to want to be properly compensated for arguably the best young midfielder in the World who has four years left on his current deal.

I'm 100% behind that deal. I just hope its not just some hogwash made up by the media.

Reports surfacing in Spain suggest that Barcelona are going to come in with a bid of 43 million pounds. If that happens I think Cesc is gone.

As great as Cesc is for Arsenal, if an offer of 43 million pounds comes in, then I'll take the 43 million pounds and no more drama over this. Cesc is eventually going to go and if that offer actually comes through, we could use the money to get some players in (like Juan Mata).

Also, I think it was funny reading through some articles in the Spanish press and many of their fans are actually opposed to making this deal right now. I get why they want Cesc, and who wouldn't, but a club in over its head in debt spending around 40 million for Cesc (if true) and a rumored 35 million for Sanchez kind of makes me laugh. Especially since I believe Sanchez will be a rotation player at Barca (unless they do sell Villa). Honestly, I would feel bad to see Cesc not playing as much behind Xavi and Iniesta, but if he doesn't realize how likely that could be, that is his own problem.

On a side note, I don't see how Carroll was worth 35 million, Torres 50 million, and Fabregas only worth around 40 million at the age of 24.

Edit: Saw a mention somewhere that Thiago Alcantra could be part of the Fabregas deal as well. Really like this idea, unless he pulls a Cesc and wants to go back every year.
