I'd also like to see Baines in the red & white, but Everton seems to drive a hard bargain due to their tight budget. I don't know if Everton would be interested in anyone plus cash... although those scenarios are usually just fantasy anyway. Perhaps if they get a good return for Clichy it becomes more of a possibility.

Yeah, its a pipe dream at best. With what they valued Jagielka at I could only imagine what they think a player of actual quality is worth.

I think he is good enough to play in a top flight league. Just not at a big club.

Arsenal have turned down a £27 million bid for Fabregas.

Arsenal have turned down an initial £27m offer for their captain Cesc Fábregas from Barcelona

They aren't interested in getting Cesc this season. There is about a 10 percent chance of him going to Barca this Summer.

Great news that they are low-balling, because they look foolish doing it. Actually strengthens Arsenal's position, and may help from the player loyalty perspective as well. If I'm Cesc and I have the track record I do, even with a few injuries, I believe I'm worth more than Andy Carroll.

I agree, as a professional of his quality and in the position he is in Barca offering only 27M is a smack in the face. The club that you grew up with says they want you back and sends its players to talk you into "coming home" and then refuses to meet the asking price for you time and again? Then they claim your age (at 24) drops your pricetag, along with financial problems forcing inability to fully pursue you, only to go spend your asking price on someone else whom just popped up on their wishlist. If I was Fab I would refuse to go back to Barca at this point.

I'd say he's easily worth double what they're offering. I'm confident that no matter where he spends the rest of his career, he'll eventually surpass even a player like Xavi. He's already this special at his current age and he's only getting better.

If they truly want him, they're going to have to pay big money. When he inevitably goes, it'll be a big number.

You said it best with Andy Carroll. I know the whole he's English thing pops up, but it doesn't matter. We're talking about Cesc Fabregas. One of the most gifted passers playing the game. To offer the amount they did shows they're truly insane and think they're giving us a deal because we "stole" him.

What does everyone think about the rumored Alvarez signing? I like it if it's to add depth to our squad, but if it's as a replacement for a player like Nasri, I'll be very disappointed.

Seems a lot of money to me. You could use a left sided player but he won't score many goals for you.

                            He isn't very good...so no.

Much better choices out there than this Alvarez kid.

Looks as though we've entered the Juan Mata race. Apparently Wenger made an 18 million pound bid.

Now that is the kind of player I can get excited about.

Also, alot of reports coming out that Cesc will refuse to come back for preseason training on the 5th. I'll believe it when I see it.

I just refuse to believe after everything he has said and done during this saga that he would do something like that. If it happens, I will really lose a ton of respect for the guy.

Agreed. I'll believe it when it happens. When he inevitably leaves, this season or next, I have a feeling we'll see him go out with as much class as possible.

As for Mata, hopefully we can land him.

I know things are being done behind closed doors, but I'm dying for a signing. Although we could be waiting for July 1st to announce some things.
