They had stretches of dominance, but it was nothing more than a dominance of possession. They couldn't create any real chances or get the ball to RVP in any shooting positions. It was pathetic to watch. And our defense looked poor, so that wasn't helping things either.

Any other season we'd be way out of fourth, but thankfully Liverpool and Chelsea are letting us stay alive.

The own goal aside which Chamberlain may have been able to prevent I think it was his worst game in the last handful he has played. Yeah they did dominate possession but that is a function of the way Sunderland would play a team like Arsenal content to hit them on the odd counter when the opportunity presents itself.
Looks like Newcastle gets the last Championship spot this year.
Let's just chalk up the performance to a hangover from the AC Milan game.

I have said it since the beginning of the season. This team just lacks quality. It's really as simple as that.

As the season has gone on, it's become more and more clear that this team really misses Cesc. In games like yesterday, he was always the little spark that would create a goal. When teams just put men behind the ball, he was the one who eventually lead the way through. Now, we just stand and wait for someone to do something, as we don't have anyone to do it.

Number 4 and to a lesser extent Nasri. All in all Wenger has done a decent job overall with what he has to work with.

I can't believe some people thought it was going to be that easy to replace Cesc and Nasri. I like Arteta and Ramsey but lets be real here they are both far from the quality of Cesc and Samir. Ramsey may reach Nasri levels by the time its all said and done but he will never be as good as Cesc and I doubt Wilshere ever will either.

Not a knock to either one of those guys. I don't think people fully realize just how good Cesc Fabregas was while he was at Arsenal. He was the best midfielder in the Premier League the last 3 years imo.

Wenger has dropped his usual 'top four is a trophy' bull****.

Arsène Wenger has suggested that Arsenal should regard the prospect of securing fourth place and entry into next season's Champions League qualifying round as comparable to winning a cup

Honestly, making the top 4 with this squad would be a pretty big accomplishment. Especially considering he would have to against two superior squads, at least on paper anyway (Chelsea and Liverpool).

If Liverpool didn't have so many needless home draws, they wouldn't even have a chance, smh.

True, but that only matters if investment happens to support a CL squad. Otherwise, we'll leave even sooner than we did this year.

A lot of interesting tidbits coming from the Arsenal Supporters Trust meeting this evening in regards to their financial situation.
                            • Arsenal are tied with Manchester United in terms of having the largest ticket revenue in Europe.
                            • Fans are not renewing their season tickets. Only one of four on the waiting list took up the offer to become season-ticket holders last year.
                            • Arsenal have made a 55m profit on transfers and currently have 50m in cash to use.
                            • Stadium debt is at 220m.
                            • Club is set to receive 35m over the next six months from Queensland Road project.
                            • The club has become more concerned with qualifying for the Champions League than reinvesting in the squad. The club is set to make a 40m profit this year.
                            • Failure to qualify for the Champions League will cost the club 45m.
                            • Arsenal believe that Financial Fair Play will put them on a level playing field with other teams, but will be in violation if they don't make the Champions League as they will be spending more money than they are making.
                            • If they don't qualify for the Champions League, they will need to use that 50m in cash and the 35m from the Queensland Road project to cushion the blow.
                            • Arsenal currently have 71 players on their wage bill. Arsenal currently spend 130m on wages, which is 40m more than Spurs. Their wage bill is currently the 4th highest in the league.
                            • There are more Arsenal fans in Africa than there are in England.
                            • Wenger chooses to pay current players more rather than reinvest.
                            • Arsenal get 14m for shirt sponsor, while Liverpool get 40m.
                            • Wenger won't be sacked because current squad is too expensive for new manager to come in and renew contracts. Bendtner is currently on 52,000 a week.
                            • Wenger is at fault for Mata deal falling through as he determines player value. Clubs don't like dealing with Arsenal because transfer offers are so low.

LOL at Bendtner on 52k a week.

Most of the financial stuff is more of the same bull**** from a money hungry board. Do they really think the fanbase is dumb enough to believe that FFP is actually going to be enforced? Of course they do. This club treats their fanbase like we have naivety of a 5 year old.

I'll be damned if I fall for their crap. I'll support someone else if it comes down to it.

Yes, Arsene, qualifying for the Champions League is vital. So why, then, didn't you spend money on top-class players to ensure our qualification?
