Yep exactly. We should be into the actual Champions league. Are the qualifying rounds home-home rounds?

Yup, relatively small room for error since it's 2 games.

Word is that we're close to moving Djourou on permanently.

I hope that means we bring in a veteran CB for the 4th slot. Someone who is okay without playing much, but who can do well when called upon. Same thing as Sol a few years ago.

Per and Kosc developed into such a great pairing, though, that I'd like to see them start the season as our top 2.

I agree. I'm not a Mertesacker fan, but he and Koscielny were solid for the most part. I hope Vermaelen rebounds next season. Since the first season his form has dipped.

With Juventus nabbing Tevez, that would make us the front-runners to sign Higuain, but while I agree that Ancelotti arriving might help move things along, if I were RM I would wait to see if a team like City came in with a higher bid. I just hope this doesn't turn out to be a case where we haggle too much on the price and personal terms and a team like City comes in and takes the player right out from under our noses. I'm optimistic that won't happen this off-season, as we seem to be actually motivated to spend money, but with this team you never know.

It was mentioned on the Arseblog a few days ago that perhaps City will just sweep in and buy him now, as opposed to buying him from us in a few years. Cutting out the middle man.

Sky is reporting that Sunderland are close to signing Vito Mannone from you guys to replace Mignolet.

Not surprising. He has no chance of starting.

Just surprised they think he can start.

As a Pipito & Chelsea fan I will be sad to see him move to Arsenal.

I also think Per was a top tier CB and the obvious leader of your backline last year as the season progressed. He was the one barking at orders and his ability ti read the game more than makes up for his lack of pace.
