Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
With the sort of wages he probably wants it wouldn't be worth it. I agree with the veteran CB, and if Sagna leaves which is looking likely, signing a good RB is crucial, not sure Jenkinson is ready quite yet.Comment

How would you guys feel about Adil Rami from Valencia? He is slow for our system, but a smart and savy player. He basically stabilized Milan's backline while on loan this Spring.

Slow for your system? Isn't this the same system that includes Per Mertesacker?YNWAComment

But really, he doesn't slow us much as he's in the back four. Plus, I don't think our system could get any slower up front than it was at the end of this year without Walcott or Ox.Comment

Damn, I have never noticed that. Put it up there 8 or 9 years ago and didn't even bother to look. Thanks, I'll fix that foolishiness. I feel like a total ******* for that.Last edited by cdawg44; 05-21-2014, 10:56 AM."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Haha touché my friend. However, TV5 and and Kos make up for it with their ability to be quick. I'm not 100% sure Rami has the ability to make up for the BFG's lack of speed at all, despite his solid play."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Haha yeah, but Rami is a CB as well so it would work I think. Walcott and Ox are game changers with their combinations of pace and skill.YNWAComment

Anyway back to our regularly scheduled programming:
What do you guys think about Cesc's situation at Barca? I know the fans have been giving him hell at times because he doesn't control the center of the park like Xavi does but he still contributes at a high level going forward. While I'd love to see him come back, I don't know where he could play so he could flourish and be at his best back at Arsenal. Part of the reason he hasn't improved is that Barca's system does put some chains on him because only Messi is allowed to freelance while everyone else plays their role.
Sagna's situation.... I've been thinking about it the last couple of days and honestly I don't know where he goes in the EPL. We all know City is interested, but are they really going to give a 150,000 pounds a week to a 31 year old back up Right Back. No way Sagna pushes Zabaletta out of the first 11, he doesn't help them with their home grown problems, plus they have to watch their wage bill for FFP. Plus does he wanna risk not getting regular football?
United could be possible, but they won't be in the champions league.
The only side I see him even considering is Liverpool at this point.Last edited by cdawg44; 05-21-2014, 04:28 PM."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

It would be insane of Liverpool to spend that much money on an AM when they need basically an entire new back 4Comment

We need someone to put in front of the back 4 to boss teams around. We need a bit of depth along the back 4. We don't need an entirely new back 4.badComment

Yes, I'm referring to Sagna potential landing spots in the BPL. Man I can't catch a break today. Anyway, Liverpool is the only landing spot that makes sense to me if staying at Arsenal is not an option. He would bring instant stability to the back line, since Glen Johnson is really out of form. I'm not sure how he'd fit in the 3-5-2 Rodgers likes to run, but he's steady player which the back could use.Last edited by cdawg44; 05-21-2014, 04:31 PM."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush
