Same story, different country bro. Be glad you don't have to listen to Michael Owen, he has a hard time saying anything positive about Arsenal.

Definitely, a DM and another centre back and I reckon it'll be us versus Chelsea for the title.

The game downloaded was a BT Sport feed, and wow, it was painful.

That was a fun match to watch. City looked so terrible. Part of that was their lineup, but I loved seeing the hustle from Gunners who lost the ball and immediately tried to win it back. We forced so many turnovers which led to some great counter-attacking.

Also, props to Sanogo, who I thought had a tremendous game. He had a big hand in both first half goals, passed well, and only had one blemish where he really should have scored. He's drawn criticism, but I think he's got great potential and showed it today.

Finally, the match showed how badly Arsenal need another CB. It will be a nightmare if we have to see Chambers paired with Monreal in the center during the season.

How would you guys feel about Cheick Tiote as the DM target?? Not as sexy as Lars Bender, Khedira or Carvalho, but boy is he tough and an underrated passer.

Also rumors are going around about us targeting Howedes as the new CB. I'm not sure if he wants to leave Schalke plus he is team captain and he wouldn't disturb the Kos-BFG pairing. But I'd love the move...

I hope we don't get the wrong message from the win Saturday and we don't keep making moves. We are truly close to a really, really good side. Let's not keep the powder dry...

I don't think there is any truth to the Howedes rumors, as I don't understand why he would want to leave his captaincy at Schalke to be 3rd choice CB at Arsenal.

As for Tiote, he would come cheap, but he's a bit reckless and picks up a lot of cards. And I'm not sure he's that much better than Flamini. I would love to see the team sign a DM, but I would hope it's someone world class like Carvalho. The Carvalho rumors have dried up though, and Arsenal's transfer sagas aren't usually this public or protracted, so I'm guessing it'll be someone Arsenal haven't been linked to as of yet.

I also don't think Arsenal are done in the market. Wenger himself has said he'd like another defender, and it would be near suicide to go into the season with the chance that Monreal would have to spend time at CB. Now that we are actually spending money, I don't expect Wenger would take that gamble.

I don't believe any of the rumors out there right now. If we do anything, it will be a deadline day shocker.

Tiote is a card machine, but has miles better techincal skills than Flamini plus he can distribute the ball well. Not as good as Arteta, but better than Flamini can.

Also put me on the record with the Cavani rumors as pure bs.

Even if I did think he were better than Flamini, "not as good as Arteta" is not a description that should apply to a new DM signing, regardless of price. If we are going after a DM, we should spend the money to get someone quality. And I doubt the club would sign someone not as good as Arteta to take Arteta's spot, especially since Arteta was just named captain.

Wenger says that while finances are healthy, for more signings we need to progress to the CL group stages.

If i had to guess, I bet that might be for Khedira signing on or not. Where they wouldn't pay his initial wage demand, I bet he would get a nice bonus if the team goes far in CL to make it worth it for him to sign.

Yeah, and I'm sure there are several players who, this close to our qualifying matches, would want to wait to make sure we go through before they agreed to sign. Wenger did state the team have enough B2B midfielders, but Khedira would be signed in more of a DM role, and even with his bombing runs forward he'd be a huge upgrade over Flamini. So I hope you're right regarding Khedira.

I like some of the aspects of Kostas' game in the Ivory Coast game at the World Cup. This guy would be a nice sweet spot for us. Not ultra young like Senderos and Djourou were and far from over the hill like Mikael Silvistre and Squallaci were. I know Arsene wants to be careful with whoever he brings for cover cause we have had more clunkers than hits at CB in the past decade.

With how good Chambers has looked at CB, kinda wished Jenko stayed, so he could stay there full time. But in due time...

If Khedira does go down, it'll be a deadline day deal. Real is getting really desperate to get him off their books and get something rather than nothing for him. Rumors are going around that we may can snag him for as little as £12 million, which would be a steal, and we could swallow those massive wages. Plus yeah, we gotta qualify for the big show and two of our best 5 won't play in Turkey. So yeah, we gotta survive down there and at Everton until the Cavalry arrive.

The problem with Khedira's wages is the precedent it might set. I'm assuming Khedira's wage demands are going to have to come down if he's headed to Arsenal. I don't see Wenger smashing our wage record, even if the transfer fee is low.
