I like the idea of getting Welback over Remy as a consolation prize. I don't think he is the answer, but he can create chances that Giroud and Sanogo can't.

Yeah I wanted to see us sign a DM and CB, so that is a little frustrating. But honestly last year we had only signed Ozil, Flamini, and Sanogo and the club still did well.

Do you realize we have 2, count them 2 CBs. This time last summer we had 4, 5 if you throw Sagna in there. Pure, pure stupidity by Arsene and board to let that happen. We are one injury there from a major, major problem. If the BFG or Kos goes down, forget a trophy or 4th. It's like these clowns are playing with fire on purpose to see what crap they can get away with. But I guarantee they'll park their hands out for new kits and high *** ticket prices, yet won't sign enough players to be competitive. I guarantee you, Arsene will get in front of the cameras and say "well Monreal and Flamini could play CB too"... And will say Diaby and Walcott are like new signings.

Oh and here is the clincher: Welbeck was on £75,000 a week at United so even if the move goes through, we had to give him a raise probably to around 90,000 or 100,000 a week meaning he will be one our highest earners. Again the stupidity knows no bounds

I haven't been this pissed since we lost to Birmingham in the 2011 League Cup final.

My issue isn't that we aren't spending, it's that wait to the last damn minute to do deals thinking hey we may get a bargain and we argue with clubs over 1-2 million *** **** pounds. Ends up we buy wrong targets and do crappy deals for guys on big wages. TV5 left 3 DAMN weeks AGO and we've done nothing to try and replace him. That pisses me off more than the issue up front. We shouldn't be looking for needs on deadline day, we should be looking for guys to put us over the top and luxury signings.

There are reports (according to Arseblog) that Falcao just failed his medical. If true, let's hope it doesn't affect the Welbeck deal.

        I actually think

        Sanchez -- Welbeck -- Walcott

        Ozil

is pretty tasty. And if we can stay relatively injury free, we should have a great team. The problem is we never stay even relatively injury free, and with only 6 defenders injuries could once again decimate us.

If that Welbeck deal falls through, wow I can't imagine the rage that will come next from Arsenal fans. I am pretty sure Man U aren't selling Welbeck unless Falcao comes through.

Why would they if Falcao can't move. That Welbeck move is dead if that's true .

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***

We were linked with Schneiderlin, Bender, Khedira, and Carvalho—all to the degree that it's safe to say we at least inquired about each of them.

The same can be said for numerous defenders.

Yet, apparently we didn't really need to fill either of those positions. Despite selling our ****ing captain, and a defender we'd all be fine with starting, Vermaelen.

And now we're dependent on United signing a striker, just so our window isn't a failure.

I'm done getting excited for this season at all. I'll be happy with draws, and thrilled when we grab three points. I'll celebrate 4th as if it's 1st, and I'll consider getting out of the CL group stage a massive success. And you know what? It could be worse—we could be battling relegation. It's clear the club isn't ready to be what I want it to be, so I'm just going to try and enjoy it for what it will be.

24 minutes to go on this extension. Now Arseblog saying Falcao did not fail his medical, but this is still coming down to the wire. Well, technically it's coming after the wire.

Latest I saw is his medical is done, and now it's just paper work.

                  Either a 4 or 5 year deal.

After finally winning a trophy last season, I really thought we'd take the next step this season. I'm not saying we're gonna be terrible, but we have a couple of glaring holes that everyone apart from Wenger can see. At the moment I can see another battle for 4th, scraping through the CL group and then getting knocked out by an elite team.

It's official. @Arsenal have signed Danny Welbeck from Manchester United: http://arsn.al/7JqRYt #WelcomeWelbeck pic.twitter.com/6yD9nbSkFi

It's a 5 year deal according to the Times, but all Arsenal.com says is that it is a long term deal.

How do you let Miquel go without bringing in another defender? Cross your fingers for no injuries during the international break.

I'm looking forward to (hopefully) seeing him start up top against City. He never seemed to have many changes to start at United, and was often on the wing. So, I think if we put him up top and give him service, he can put away some goals for us.

Posted this in the transfer thread as well, but the first extended run up top he put away 6 in 7 games. I think he will do very well for you guys.

He's definitely an immediately upgrade over Sanogo. I'm excited to see him linking up with the likes of Ozil and Sanchez.
