I have been following Wenger coach Arsenal since he first came in and I must say..I really think he hasn't been able to keep up with the times for the last several seasons. It is difficult to say but I am tired of seeing him come off arrogant and a little naive with his tactics. Something needs to change because it is really going to be a long season. I think a change maybe needed because he really is past his due date at this point and is surviving off legacy a little. Still will always appreciate Wenger and the football he has brought to Arsenal but something has to give at this point.

And that's why you play Podolski more. For a team that struggles to score, the man knows how to find the back of the net.
That was a pretty pathetic performance for large swaths of the match. We didn't create enough chances, had some lackadaisical defending in the second half, and would have been lucky to escape with a point.
But we won, and now Wenger's got to find a way to get this team to gel.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Excuse my long azz post, but I have a lot to get off my chest
Same old issues and same old problems... Slow start and lethargy in the game. Get some dominance after the 15 minute and can't put it in the net. Go behind and now have scramble but wake up and get an undeserved win.. Have an awful situation at the back because our manager decides to meet the Pope instead of making sure we had CB help. No balance or physicality in midfield with small guys who don't retain possession well enough to make that strategy work. I don't know why we are surprised when this happens and I laughed my arse off when I heard other people say well losing Ozil is addition by subtraction... Are you freaking serious, we desperately needed some incisive passing last night and pretty much everything we are creating is coming from Alexis right now. I've pretty much given up on this season and will just chalk it up to the game and wait until next season.... We need so much help at the back and in deep midfield it's not funny and can't be fixed in January.
For Arsene not changing his philosophy.... Shoot he has. We were a solid 4-4-2 with technical and quick guys on the wing and up top with nasty and hard nose guys who had good athletic ability in midfield like Vieira, Gilberto Silva and even Edu coming off the bench that gave the side BALANCE. Now Arsene wants to play like City, Barcelona and Bayern yet refuse to buy all the pieces necessary to play that type of game. All of those sides have strong, vocal leadership with ball winners and retainers deep to match the small guys going forward. And if the guys aren't playing with their hair on fire, who's gonna step in and tear these guys a new one to give more effort... Everybody says it's Metersacker, but hell he's worn out and it's probably hard to get up after all he gave in Brazil. This isn't stubbornness, it borders on stupidity.
If you look at it, we are playing two different philosophies out there. We have the small guys up front that have all the gifts in the world and can compete with a lot of squads. However with that game plan, you must press like crazy and have a disciplined backline who play the trap well and stay organized. We used to get killed consistently when Cesc was in the side with long balls to the corners and long diagonal balls because we didn't have a guy like Per to break those plays up. Now we've countered that issue but with Per, we have to sit deeper with our line so Per doesn't get exposed for his lack of pace. So we are trying to play possession based game with a really deep line leaving space between the midfield and defense. Therefore you have to have some form a destroyer who is athletic and strong enough to break up play and technical enough to get the ball to the playmakers. You have a £42.5 player in Ozil you bought to help break down Ds who attempt to pack tight, but he leaves space behind him because he isn't great in defense and wants stay forward if he can. (See a pattern and a consistent theme) Right now we have a manager caught in two different minds trying to play two different strategies in the game and want to wonder why in the hell we are struggling with cohesiveness. You have one, perhaps two guys who press in Welbeck and Alexis consistently enough for us to win. Other than those, the pressing has been crap all season. Beyond that, Arsene needs to make up his damn mind. Are we going counter more often or are we going to do a possession based game. Either way more physicality is going to be neededLast edited by cdawg44; 10-23-2014, 10:16 AM."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

If Sunderland is going to hand us 3 points on a silver platter, we'll take them!
Also, it was hilarious seeing Mannone trying to blame his defense for that howler at the end. Right, like anyone's buying that.Comment

Alexis is starting to hit top form, I love the way he plays. Hopefully the rest of the team can start to at least match him; I want to see more from this team but things are not as bleak as they seem. We still got plenty of football left to play and a next few run of games that can really get us into a nice run if we take advantage of it next month (4 our 6 of the matches will be home games in November) lets go Gunners.Comment
