Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
We far too often play with zero urgency.
I can't stand watching them seem to realize the game has started 30 minutes in. Noway in the world should that team have been even remotely close to Arsenal, and they looked superior for probably 85% of the night.
Great resiliency sure, but that's not a trait that should've been needed tonight.

Luckily we had Giroud to save the day again.Comment

Started a bit shaky but eventually turned into a comfortable win.
Love that yellow card for the dive. Was there a foot out at one point? Yes. Was it pulled back in as the player reached for contact and threw himself to the ground (the Jamie Vardy approach)? Yes.Comment

Yep, no picture on the scorecard.
Abysmal officiating. Again.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
It's not many hours after I don't know where I stand on Xhaka.
Not the foul—it was a foul, and a red card if only for how stupid of a decision it was. Is it frustrating far more dangerous tackles (Rojo) have gone entirely unpunished? Yes. Does that change Xhaka making a horrible decision? Nope.
First, it's unfortunate that he'll now miss four games due to the previous red card, which was a certain yellow, but not a red. Second, I think his reputation will continue to hurt him going forward. Referees may view a tackle harsher not only due to it being committed by him, but you can be damn sure players will be writhing in pain if he glances their shin.
I love his attitude and his physicality. I love that he won't take **** from anyone and isn't afraid to make a cynical foul when needed. But damn, he must improve at decision making. That was not a tackle that needed to be attempted.
I don't want to entirely neuter him—I just want to trim down on the recklessness. We're a team when he's starting, but that's as long as he stays on the field.
Also, Arsene will most likely face punishment (perhaps only a fine?) for his small push on the fourth official. He has already apologized and said he regrets it, so he certainly knows that he's in the wrong.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Yeah I'm with you. His decision making is often atrocious, like today, but had he not been so careless with the ball, he wouldn't have been in the spot to make the ridiculous challenge.
There was a game earlier this year when he gave the ball away that led directly to an easy goal (I forget the game it was).
The glass half full approach says he's still quite young, and can/should/will (?) mature in his decision making.
The glass half empty would be that judging by the expression on his face when he got the card, was that he had done nothing wrong. So he's not even close to "getting it".
He cost a lot of money, and he needs to get his act together--quickly.

After listening to the Arsecast Extra, I feel better about Xhaka.
Look at the two tackles where he received a red card, and realize those two tackles means he'll miss seven matches. It's beyond harsh, and it's really down to that first tackle.
Also, Koscielny had two red cards in his first eight games in the league. Xhaka is certainly not a lost cause, but he does need to learn.Comment
