Can you really say you’ve played well when you’re down 3 goals?

If you can't figure out at least several scenarios that qualifies as a "yes" to that answer, you know nothing about football.

If you had asked if it's possible for a top club to be satisfied with a 3 goal loss, on the other hand...

          Good call...unfortunately.

I understand I probably come off as overly pessimistic, but there's certainly a reason behind it.

Any other club with the stature and supposed ambition of Arsenal would sack their manager this morning. I've never wanted to see him sacked, as what a horrible way for it to end, but if he truly doesn't want to step down, then he's putting the club in a tough position.

Do I think they'll sack him? Missing out on Champions League again is a pretty big deal, and the numbers already showed that it hurt revenue.

Even if he were to announce he's leaving and stay until the end of the season—great. The players would perhaps start to play for him again, and there will not be a dark cloud over everything.

If only he left after one of those last two FA Cup wins—would've been a great way to go. Celebrate with the players, take a few days, and then announce so it didn't overshadow the win. But nope, here we are, a joke.

Quite well compared to Sunday or quite well considering expectations makes more sense but quite well as in “the better side” is a reach.

You think Arsenal players went into the tunnel thinking “well, we had some chances but I guess we were just unlucky”

Down a goal yeah, down 3 ....eh not so much.

But I digress. More of a cricket guy than footy.

I’m honestly not trying to start a heated debate. But I’m just trying to understand what was the realistic expectation when facing THIS City squad?

They’ve (City) been like this all season against nearly every opponent. Even Liverpool had trouble after going up what, 3-1?

Just like Everton wasn’t an good litmus test for Arsenal, surely City is the same bad test, just on the other end of the spectrum.

They are getting embarrassed. Repeatedly. The club is an absolute joke right now.

Of course expectations were low vs City--but to get blasted 3-0 and come back with that poor of a performance just a few days later is completely unacceptable.

We could've looked like a professional football club over the course of 180 minutes. I don't think anyone expected a win, but it would've been nice if we had shown up for more than the 20 minutes we put up a fight over the two games. Watch us play out of the back a centre back passes it back to the goalkeeper, the goalkeeper passes it out to the other centre back, and no one else has moved, so we force a pass upfield and we're not in any good positions to run forward so it goes backwards again.

Individually we've got a talented group of attacking threats, as a team, it's clear there's no direction. Lacazette and Auba have been making tantalizing runs, and no one is even close to hitting them with a pass most of the time.

Also we looked good against Everton, we looked bad against Bournemouth, Swansea, Nottingham Forest, Ostersunds, Spuds, and City twice since the turn of the year. These City losses would be probably be a bit easier to swallow if it wasn't just a recurring theme against different teams.

Mustafi and Xhaka start again. Wonderful. Would really like to see Holding and Elneny get a run of games in place of the aforementioned guys.
