Scrolled a good amount through this thread to find where I defended Mustafi, and said Wenger was nuts for trying to rid us of him, because I wanted to call myself out, turns out it might not have been in this thread, or possibly even at this website. I make plenty of wrong calls and get a bunch wrong, but Mustafi staying might've been one of worst calls I've ever made.

So it doesn't look like Santi will be able to make it back for even a smidgen of game time now. We're still unsure if he'll play top flight football again

I won't be surprised if I have to take back calling him a fool after a new manager and coaching staff turn him into a much better defender.

I think the rule is all fans have a fresh start on opinions when a new manager takes over. [emoji1]

Arsene is officially stepping down at the end of the season. No idea if it was his decision or not, but it’s happening.

I’m honestly sad to see him go, but glad the uncertainty is over and can be properly celebrated in these remaining games.

I’m excited for the future, but will always miss Arsene to an extent.

I'm pleased that he is announcing it BEFORE the end of the season so he can have a proper send off. It would be a shame if he was sacked or walked away in the post season.

I actually found a glimpse into the future of myself when Arsene inevitably speaks publicly about his exit, or at the end of the season.

I've been a detractor of his the last few seasons, but that doesn't change what he did, what he built, or the absolute grace and professionalism with which he did it.

I hope he wins the Europa League on his way out.

I think the guy among the most realistic choices Arsenal should go after is Rafa Benitez. You need to fix that defensive organization to improve your road performances, and he'd do that pretty much instantly. Not sure if he's the long-term answer, but I think he'd have you right back into the Top 4 battle.

I'm personally going to refrain from discussing his successors, but I do believe that Rafa would be great. The only part of me that feels bad, is that I want him to stay at Newcastle because I have a soft spot for Newcastle. But also Mike Ashley doesn't deserve Rafa, soooooooooo.... go get Rafa.

I'd love Rafa to come in for a few years, steady the ship as much as possible, and massively improve our defense. I think that someone with his experience and the right signings it would be realistic for us to work back into the CL via league places.

Is he a long-term solution? Nope, but we don't want to Moyes this thing.

If I had to break down who I'd want from different categories, it would be this.

Premier League experience, currently managing in Premier League: Rafa

Continental experience, the possibility of luring them away: Allegri

No experience, former player, long-shot who we'd give years to building the side: Arteta

I’d love to see Arteta but he probably should take the reigns at a La Liga side first to show what he can do with the keys to the whip.

Wilshere should be available for Thursday, Ozil was sick and remains questionable, Mhki is still not ready to go, and finally Elneny has ligament damage in his ankle and is questionable for the rest of the year.

This is going to require an epic performance considering our squad limitations.
