lol, with stan kroenke looking at the wage bill? i'm afraid there's not much to look forward to.

You can be optimistic sometimes. I promise it won't hurt that bad.

To be fair, as soon as I get my hopes up, they'll be dashed quickly and then be laughed at multiple times. Years of that happening has taught me a valuable lesson in "expect the worst"

I’m waiting for the next manager confirmation to settle on my optimism level. There will be optimism, just a matter of how much.

But I’m truly looking forward to something new.

This really should be exciting times for Arsenal fans. Just think about it, a lot of fans are going to see their club under a new manager for the first time in their life. That's crazy to think.

Krebstar has the right attitude about it. Think of top 4 as the only goal and anything else is just a bonus for next season.

I'm very excited for next season, just because we'll have something different. Jokes can be made about how nothing will change until the ownership and board changes, but it's not entirely true. Everyone knows how big of a change a manager can have on a club, and we're going to see that.

I'm also excited to see the squad get a bit of a shakeup. No, we don't have war chest to spend, but neither did Mislintat at Dortmund. There's a reason we've brought him in. We can't compete with the money of the Manchester clubs, so we need to win in other ways.

I'm genuinely excited just to see a different Arsenal playing next year because it will be different. I don't care if that means we play more defensively if we play strictly on the counter, or if we implement a high press. I'm just excited to finally watch some different football be played.

At this point, I honestly think fourth is the highest we can even hope for, and past jokes aside, finishing fourth would be massive. It's going to be a few rough seasons for sure, but getting back into the Champions League and not having those rough Thursday matches would be huge for the 19/20 season.

Another season of Europa isn't the worst, though, as we will at least get some different matchups—same as we had this year. Most people didn't understand that while it was a massive disappointment to be in the Europa League, one weird positive was just seeing us play some different teams than we always do.

I'd actually be fine (even thrilled) with crashing out of Europe early next season, though, and focusing our efforts 100% domestically.

I'm looking forward to a potential slow start and then random posters coming in here hurr durring about how Wenger would be doing better.

In fact, I'm looking forward to 10-15 years of "well if Wenger were still there" jokes.

I have excitement for the new manager and new season. I just don't have hope.

So it’s been confirmed that Kos tore his Achilles. That might be it for him. Will be insanely tough to come back from that one.

That's what I always say when EL is on the table. Funnily enough, most people seem to disagree.. and particularly non-Spurs-fans. Since winning it gives a CL-ticket now, I might change my stance.. but it's a tournament I really wouldn't be sad to see disappear entirely.

For a defender who always relied on his physicality and recovery speed these last few years have been rough for him. He'll always be one of Arsene's best signings in terms of the progress he made and how important he was to the side.

I'm medium on the EL, If you make it to the second knockout round with little effort I think its worth going after, but I'd prefer to not sacrifice league wins for EL wins earlier in the season.

I genuinely feel bad for Koscielny. You guys have really wrapped him up in cotton wool for several months now. He's rarely featured in the PL, you have been saving him for the Europa League and now this happens. A massive loss for you and for France. France lost Varane for Euro 2016 do to injury and now Kosc for the WC, very unlucky. Get well soon, just an awful injury to come back from!

Oh crap, this is bad. I usually cringe inside and almost get phantom pains when I see terrible injuries and pain on the pitch (and elsewhere). Whether it's an Arsenal player or not isn't relevant, this was heartbreaking to watch. I wish him a speedy recovery, if that's possible.

Yikes, it's the injuries that happen when there isn't even a tackle by an opposing player that are the worst. He just buckled.

If you've ever heard the sound of an achilles snapping, you'd know why Costa is waving his arms so quickly... he heard that sound, and it sounds bad.
