Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Next up Papa and Mustafi please.
If Edu and the front office can pull these moves and somehow bring in Buenida, that would be might impressive.
Why Buenida? He’s created the most chances in Europe this year, I’m not sold on Willock, and Smith-Rowe has an injury history.
Also not to be overlooked, if the aforementioned 4 players move on, we’ll have freed up 4 foreign player spots in the team.

Definitely on board with Buendia—ESR should not be shoved into the starting eleven each week, and we need depth in creativity. It would be interesting to see how much it would take for Norwich to let him go, though.
But yes, several fringe players off the books and one addition that can help now would be a fine January.Comment

Knowing Mustafi is gone in the Summer helps, and it would be nice to know it's the end of his time at Arsenal, but with Saliba and Sokratis going I wonder if they'll keep Mustafi for depth until the Summer.

I would also enquire about Aouar again. Apparently the French clubs are about to be financially ****ed due a TV deal that didn’t get paid out.
There could be a fire sale over there, and I would throw in Pepe going the other way.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
I'd be interested to know, if both were possible, what the cost of Buendia vs Aouar would be. Lyon were seemingly unwilling to accept what was it, £35m?
If, just for the sake of it we'd still be looking at £40m for Aouar or £20m for Buendia, I'd go Buendia all the way, but the gap may not be that big at all.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
I might be wrong, but I'd pay 40m for Aouar in a heartbeat, it'd be close to 55m before I'd look to Buendia at 20m. Then again, with some of the injury luck Arsenal have had it'd be even better if they could shell out for both, since y'all seem to lack creativity in the central areas. I think having a true creative presence in the centre of the pitch will unlock the explosive wingers that Arsenal should be utilizing.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Also on Joe Willock, if you're relying on him to be a creative playmaker, you're going to be solely disappointed, but he is a great box-to-box guy that will win tackles and make the right pass most of the time, if not the most creative pass. I think he has a place in the team, but if you're looking to replace him with Aouar or Buendia, you're asking for two very different midfielders. Future-wise you have a midfield trio of Willock in the box-to-box role, Partey in the anchor/enforcer role, and Aouar/Buendia in the creative role.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
As I assumed, I was way off on Buendia—Ornstein said it could take something like £40m. Yeah.
Also that the club see ESR as someone who can play behind a more experienced player now before taking over. Sounds good, but that’s not going to be cheap.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Ozil leaving this month with Arsenal paying his salary through the remainder of his contract is starting to seem like it could actually happen...
Offload, offload, and offload some more, Edu.

Okay, Ozil heading to Turkey this month is seeming...well, to have serious potential. I'm sure he's been told by Arsenal he will not be registered in any squads, and that he'll continue to not be used throughout the season. Plus, he's apparently been training by himself recently and was even given some time off (in which he may have been making plans to leave).
Romano also said that once we move out a few players we'd be reaching out to Buendia's agent. So we'll see.Last edited by Krebstar; 01-06-2021, 01:24 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
I know he's not well liked around these parts, but man, Ozil leaving is still kind of sad for me. He was one of the first big transfer outlays after I started following the team religiously. His brilliance on the pitch was something we sorely lacked when he arrives, he was also very much the player that made me fall in love with the essentially dead traditional 10. I'm sure many will only remember the post back injury, post Wenger Ozil, and that's fine, but man when he was on one, it felt like he was untouchable in the pitch. He was also the last active Arsenal player from the 2014 FA Cup trophy drought ending win. Farewell Mesut.Support Local Sports
