Not making any excuses, but it's a bunch of rested German subs vs. a tired US defense in this heat. I don't think it erases the good 80 minutes of play, IMO.

Beautiful game. I don't care much about the breakdown at the end, it was bound to happen and a great learning experience.

We dominated that match, and it felt oh so good. It's so nice to see competent offense out of the boys. It's also so nice to see Altidore do something worth a damn.

Dempsey was the man today. Really showed his captaincy in getting back on defense too. Good to see Altidore show up and Zusi had a pretty good game. Besler was a bit flat footed a couple of times - but I prefer him over Goodson. Castillo was getting beat too easily if he's trying to contest with Beasley for that LB spot. I haven't seen anything from Boyd that impresses me; waiting though.

Y'all need to stop killing Jozy like that. For one he's only 24. Two, it's not like we had been getting him the ball in great areas where he can play his kind of game. I'm glad he's gotten the monkey off his back. Bet he starts to punch em in a bit more regularly.

Jozy needs to step up like that every game though. Making smarter decisions like checking to the ball - holding the ball up - etc. He did that today, and it worked well for us. Why couldn't he do it against Belgium? Just need more consistency; his age isn't an excuse anymore - he's been a pro for a long time now.

Jozy needs to step it up more than once in a blue moon and prove his club success can carry over to the national stage. A striker makes opportunities for himself, not always about getting him the ball in great areas. Until then, I for one will keep "killing" him.

That being said, great showing for him. Not only did he finish well, but he held the ball up and made plays for others.
