Terrible incident in Utah. Leagues need to always heavily punish players for making contact with referees. I'd also like to see more yellows given for non-captains rushing up to and surrounding the referee. Send the message that it is NEVER OK.

I fully admit that during simple games I sometimes let my temper get the best of me, I've been thrown out of more games than I care to admit for arguing. But never, ever, ever, ever have I ever even thought about coming into physical contact with a referee/official. It's just stupid. Even during my worst temper tantrums, I never got close to an official, and even then 9/10 I'd regain my cool half an hour later and apologize. People are freaking ridiculous.Support Local Sports

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread
not saying that striking a ref (or anyone) is appropriate behavior, however imagine being this kid and you killed someone with one punch. How many people actually expect that to happen. Although this kid is at fault, I would even say this was borderline accident in a some kind of twisted sense or argument.
im not justifying what he did but I know at his age I had problems with anger, but then again I played a contact sport in football to get it all out. I have a theory on less physical games in that there are more basketcases playing them.Comment

Re: The Beautiful Game Thread
If you can't fully comprehend the fragility of life, you probably shouldn't throw a punch. The kid didn't mean to kill the guy as far as I can tell, but when you throw a punch, you're intending to do harm, and when you throw a punch to the head of someone, you're intending to do immediate, life-threatening harm. Actions have consequences, and this kid, all of his friends, teammates and acquaintances just learned the hard way.Support Local Sports

Good read I recommend. Its called El Classico, the book is about you guessed it the Madrid/Barca rivalry. Its not just a soccer book it goes in depth into the very intense Catlalan/Castille political discention. Very good read, and will make you look at that game in a totally different light."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Here's a link to the ending of the Watford v Leicester game and the reaction of the Sky Sports announcer.
At first I thought this was a FM game! LOL.
