They basically went all out for their preparations last year for Champions League and nearly won. I'm not sure if that kind of motivation exists for many of the MLS clubs to put that kind of effort into Champions League.
Focused so much on winning that, I wonder if it impacted their MLS season.

I think that's a fair comment for their poor early season results last year but not so much for August, September, October. That's months later and doesn't account for them leaking goals all year long.

The player who really seem to fall apart was goalkeeper Alex Bono who played tremendous during their 2017 run and for parts of the Champions League. He really deteriorated after the Champions League final and looked awful at times.

Not bad debut for Pozuelo. 2 goals! TFC now 3-0.

Tough one on Saturday for DC United. Sort of a reality check in sorts but damn, our defense had looked solid, tbh since Hamid came back but the first half we just played our way into trouble, especially Hanouse. He was terrible yesterday.

Deserved red on Rooney. That’s a horrible challenge.

After winning 1 road match all last season, Minnesota has done it 3 times in the first 5 matches, including at NYRB. Now time to open the new stadium.

Alejandro Pozuelo is the real deal. Nice win tonight in terrible conditions.

I've never been more embarrassed watching one of my teams. What a ****show we were in all aspects after going ahead in the 70th.

I've never seen a team that always pats themselves on the back after scoring and immediately concedes like we do. It's been going on since the move to MLS, and it's beyond old. The captain consistently ignores defensive responsibility, and Boxall is a complete failure of a defender. Mannone has absolutely no awareness on balls into the box. It's a consistent and sad lack of coaching and player execution in defense. Maybe someday it will be addressed?

I've done my best to calm myself down, but it's still just so aggravating. Leash time is over, Boxall cannot be starting, Calvo cannot be playing as a defender. I thought that playing him at leftback was gonna be fun, a marauding fullback is 100% my brand, but all he does is maraud out of position. The two yellows in two minutes for absolutely stupid plays is also awful, and I hope that keeps him out for more than just the suspended game. Gregus' challenge was reckless, unneeded, and clearly out of frustration. The ref was all over the place, and the Toronto midfield was clearly superior to the Alonso/Gregus/sometimes Schuller midfield. The way we lost our heads though gets to me. We could've very well been down to eight men, and for me it shows a complete lack of respect for the club the way it went down. I also think it shows the lack of control Heath has, and I'm pretty ready to be done with his 3-year plan.

So the bette half and i (both soccer players that met in a coed league way back when) were in DC for the weekend and decided to go to a DC United game Saturday night. Amosphere was good. Very impressed with the supporters section behind the goal, stadium, and crowd size. Its in a great spot of DC and i really hope its. Sign of things to come for the league. As a Man United supporter though its hard watching Rooney like that. Might as well put a chair out there for him but that's just my humble opinion.

Regardless, had a great time. First MLS game since the Metro Stars and the wacky "overtime breakaway" shootout nonsense from back in the day and seeing Stoichkov for thr Fire when visiting Chicago many moons ago (think he was there for Chicago).
