lol. And he had champions fixtures + no Di Maria, etc. But of course LvG = God. Totally deserves another few years.

Rename Manchester United to "Flopchester United" after that performance. I'm so glad the ref wasn't buying it. I mean, there is flopping with every team to an extent, but this was just comical.

Really felt like they should have kept welbeck, but they already have 4 strikers, 5 would have been too many to rotate. But man they could have used his speed up front

He hasn't exactly set the world on fire in North London, so I don't think United would be much better with him still in the squad. He's a good player, and he's had some good games recently on the wing, but it's not like he's been some revelation who would drastically improve the United squad.

Yeah but he's young, English, and versatile. I wasn't a fan of his lack of goal scoring but you cannot knock his work-rate and physical skills. He is an elite level talent in those 2 areas.

Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread

Finally got that FA Cup loss out of my system.

                Some thoughts:

                1. We played pretty GOOD in the 1st-half. Possession coupled with directness in Arsenal's half. I was wholly confident of getting a W due to our play even when Arsenal scored first, as evidenced by the quick reply a few minutes later by Di Maria's cross for Rooney to head in.

                2. Tony V and Smalling were shambolic defensively, aside from some of our more usual shambolic defense. Smalling looked nervy and was caught out of position numerous times, while Tony V would find himself pressuring in midfield or wherever the ball went, leaving Di Maria to cover the right, which in turn led to Di Maria not giving a **** at all when Monreal moved past him to receive the ball from the Ox (after more shambolic defending) to score that first goal.

                3. I really didn't get why Carrick came in for Herrera. Blind and Carrick are practically the same players, and United stalled in attack for a good 10-15 minutes at the start of the 2nd half. Really bad substitution by LvG. Still, I thought that we played better than Arsenal in the 2nd-half.

                4. Can we please treat Fellaini for what he is, Plan B? Mata is the better option in the hole! Carrick + Blind provide enough defensive cover for Mata to do what he does best if LvG's concern is balance.

                5. Man. United showed their appreciation of Danny Welbeck's service by giving him a gift from Tony V's.

                6. David De Gea man. Woody, show him the damn money! And if he still has doubters, I don't know what to say.

I can understand being outplayed and losing, but playing better than the other team and losing because of silly mistakes is infuriating. Fair play to Arsenal, they pounced on our mistakes and made us pay.

What a wasted opportunity to (most probably) get to a cup final. Every match until the end of the season is a cup final for us now if we want to secure a spot in Europe.

That is beyond hilarious. We bossed you at your own stadium where your best bet were long balls to Fellaini.

Did you even watch the match? Have you seen the stats? Bossing is quite an overstatement. Much like the story of our season though, our possession play has been inadequate when teams defend well against us. Only difference this time is we had more directness in our play.

Fellaini was used to counter your deep defensive line. Something I'd rather have seen at latter stages if Mata would've been given a chance instead.

Enjoy the victory. Lord knows it's only the 3rd time (in 19 matches) you've beaten us since 2008.

It doesn't help that LvG keeps chopping and the changing the formation/team.

Stats aren't always an accurate presentation of the game. What the stats don't show is how many times we hit you on the break but lacked that final ball. I never felt as if we were in danger during the game and that sums it all up.

1st-half play, United were definitely better. 2nd-half play, I'd say 55-45 to United before the sending off. I say we performed better -- and god knows I've seen enough crap performances from United to know when we actually play well -- but it really doesn't mean much when the result is a loss.

Moving on. Gotta stop this Tottenham winning BS that's happened the past 2 years.

Sunderland losing 4-0 at halftime. Poyet looks like he wants to quit FM.
