Re: The 2014-15 EPL Discussion Thread

Liverpool clearly the better team but that scoreline flattered them a lot. Still got diced open on defense and not punished because Spurs can't finish. Also Lovren not being called for a penalty against Adebayor was an absolute joke considering the one given to Allen (which was still a penalty, just really soft). Lamela was also being indiscriminately fouled every time he tried to start a counterattack and only like two of those fouls ended with a card so Liverpool had no reason to stop doing it.

I think a 2-1 or 3-2 would have been a much more fair result. Liverpool definitely the better team though.

Leicester's really fun to watch. Great fans, adventurous in proper moments against superior opponents and they just have that "Yeah, we belong here" aura about them that I got from Swansea and Southampton.

Yeah because Liverpool didn't blow any clear chances either... Could have easily been worse than 3-0. I don't know why I am responding because it is an incredibly silly point you are trying to make. Since when do we talk about what score lines would be fair?

Yeah Balo should have scored at least one of those headers and how Raheem scuffed that low dribbler to Lloris after an incredible run is beyond me. IMO Sterling is virtually unplayable right now. It's him and Hazard for the best guys on the ball in the league by a mile.

Still a lot of issues with sloppy giveaways in the back by Lovren/Sahko but Moreno looks like the truth, energy for days.

I wonder how long Balo will keep up that defensive work-rate.

Not sure how you got insulted by my post but I was just pointing out my thoughts on the game, which, is generally what is done on a soccer forum. I didn't even say anything insulting about your team, unless pointing out flaws in a team is insulting now. Nor did I say that Spurs lost because of blown chances.

I even said that Liverpool were clearly the better team, which they were. This game was a good example of a true top 4 team(Pool) playing against a team not quite ready to make that jump. All I was really pointing out was that Spurs didn't do quite as bad as the scoreline made it seem.

I know it's only 3 games into the season, and the popular narrative is that Liverpool will be battling for 4th place, but I just don't see right now how any team not named Chelsea or Manchester City is going to finish above them.

Won't be Everton or Spurs, that's for sure And I'm sure Swansea will fade, although the Welsh in me wants to believe otherwise.

I think Swansea could be this year's "mid-table team that takes points off the top 5". If Gylfi keeps playing like this and Bony retains his form from last season they are a dangerous team.

I wish I was that confident. I would be thrilled to see us in the top 4 at seasons end. Defensive lapses just too common still.

Going from 7th to 2nd in one season was a massive improvement for us. I think if we can at least come 4th it will be deemed a successful season considering we have lost one of the world's best players.

Your midfield and attack is miles more cohesive than Arsenal and United, if Rodgers can straighten up the defense a bit I just don't see how you finish lower than 3rd.

With Arsenal not signing a good DM, they are going to run into the same problems they always do. Unless Wenger knows something about Chambers the rest of us don't.

I'm confused. I thought they did it differently than the other clubs.

You are right. We got superstars without Champions League football. That's pretty different.

That's a pretty crappy way of visualizing it though, considering a couple of those transfers happened years ago. Plus the fact that we have been under-investing since the Glazers took over. It's about time we got to use money the club generated (not borrowed from its owner).

I am not looking for the Spurs to win it all this year, a top 4 finish would be nice though. I am just looking for some improvement and consistency and then next year be able to make the push.

Spurs fans seem to forget this is the first year under Poch and his new scheme, things have looked good early and with 1 bad game. I like how Lamela has improved, Dier is looking good and the team is pretty fun to watch.

But I would be shocked if anyone besides Man City or Chelsea finished at the top.
