Re: **The Official Everton FC Thread**

Just noticed this thread. Great to see so many Everton fans from abroad. But why did this thread stop.

Speaking as someone who is lucky enough to go to Goodison regularly we have suffered a little this year with the stop/start schedule ...... international breaks etc ..... getting used to the Thursday/Sunday fixtures due to Europe and the aftermath of the World Cup.

Lukaku wasn't fit for the first few games and still isn't 100% sharp but Big Dunc already appears to be helping his game. Jagielka's confidence was shot after the World Cup and the Chelsea game. Him and Distin were given a torrid time by UK phone ins and local media after that. Great credit to him the way he has come back.

We have also suffered badly with injuries, losing Barkley for a while was huge. Mirallis is a big miss and Stones too. Also Coleman missed a few games. Luckily today's injury to Barry may not be as bad as feared.

On the plus side McCarthy has been superb and Naismith makes a massive difference with his work rate and commitment. The other big plus is Eto'o. When you are at the game and can see his movement and reading of the game it is clear he is a class above. I bet Liverpool wish they had taken him instead of Balotelli !!

Hope some one reads this and we can get a bit of something going ..... its always good to talk Everton !!

You are not wrong there and sadly things haven't got much better since. Can only hope that the late goal against West Ham has given us a little belief that we can turn things around

We badly need another centre half, Alcaraz isn't up to the job and Distin/Jagielka together lack pace. Stones needs another season to develop and I am worried he may be another player prone to too many injuries.

Howard is also a big miss even though he hasnt been at his best this season. There is still talk about him retiring or going back to America at the end of the season and Martinez has openly admitted he is searching for a new keeper to sign on a long term basis. Robles is not premier league quality and needs to be shipped out.

Anyway off to the Man City gamenow. Hopefully our good record against them over the past few seasons and a feeling of annoyance about the way we were robbed in tbe earlier game a few weeks ago will spur us on to a good result. Sadly though with Robles in goal and Alcaraz back I rather doubt it !!!

I'm really liking the team this year, I'm glad we've stood solid on not selling John Stones, and Tom Cleverly looks a good pick up so far!

On the contrary I think you've taken a step back from last season outside of Lukaku and Barkley. Your defence looks shaky and Stones is showing himself to not yet be anywhere near the prices spoken about, thought his Barnsley performance was woeful.

Mirallas is continuing to be a decent player who occasionally will have a standout game and look like a world beater but those games are very few and far between. Howard continues to look poor although Coleman has started as well as you'd expect him to.

Overall I wouldn't be too worried playing the Ev right now and I haven't seen anything of them to convince me they'd beat us, looking forward to the derby already.

Thankfully for Liverpool it's still a ways off. And thankfully for Everton, Liverpool took all of those Europa league fixtures this year.

To me, you guys look very organized and are gonna smoke some top 4 sides with the counter-attacking game like yall did to us in 2014. Very impressed how you all have started the season. Top half finish should be at least where yall finish and I Can easily see a battle between Swansea, Everton and Palace for seventh this year.

Re: **The Official Everton FC Thread**

It has been a strange start. Good attitude to come back gainst Watford and Barnsley but those are games we should be winning easily. Great performance away at Southampton but far too negative against Man City and Spurs.

Not convinced about the signings. Cleverley needs to improve, the south american guys are an unknown quantity and not quite sure why we need Lennon when we have plenty of options on the right already.

Would have liked to have seen another keeper signed, Robles is a disaster area (watch the Barnsley game) so if Howard gets injured we are in trouble. I would have shipped Robles out, and McGeady too, he never does a lot.

On the plus side Kone seems to have a new lease of life and Galloway and Browning look good for the future. Besic needs more game time as he will turn into a great player for us.

We really need a good solid run through to January or I could see some of our better players getting lured away, especially with the Euro finals coming up next summer.

What is everyone,s idea of our best starting line up if everyone is fit ? I'd go
                    HOWARD in goal
                    COLEMAN & BAINES full backs.
                    JAGIELKA & STONES centre back
                    MCCARTHY & BESIC defensive midfield
                    MIRALLAS & DEULAFEU wide
BARKLEY in the number 10 position
                    LUKAKU up front
