Feels like Sporting are close to either tying the match or going down by 2 more goals ...

I did not realize that ESPN has the rights to some of the matches. That's nice.

Tomorrow the Madrid-Juventus match is on ESPN2, and I think there's more on ESPN3 as well.

If I'm Vincent Kompany I'm grabbing YaYa by the arm and telling him "we can't go far unless you give some sort of effort."

I know he's dealing with the loss of his brother but the pitch should be a 90 minute sanctuary. He has literally turned into the midfield version of Berbatov, only wants the ball played to his feet so he doesn't have to run. He literally takes minutes off and then gets upset when his teammates don't do what he wants. Meanwhile guys like Silva, Zabaletta, Milner, and Kompany are out there flying around laying it on the line.

Pellegrino is also a bum, tactically and when it comes to motivation. Anyone who has seen Roma over the last year or even saw the teamsheet would have know that Roma was going to run the midfield, especially with Totti as a false 9. Took Pellegrino 60 minutes to drop Dzeko and add another middie and shocker, Citeh got back into the game.

Yaya has been like that the last 3 years, I honestly don't know why City gave him a new contract instead of taking the opportunity to start phasing him out and bring in another star midfielder to work into the team.

I think they value a certain amount of stability...at least more than it seems.

Sure, they buy what/whomever they want, but they've kept a solid core together for more than a couple years.

Aguero, Dzeko, Silva, Kompany, Milner, Toure, Hart, etc...sure, they have been purchased, but they've also stuck around...City seem to desire actually building a team that will last, rather than a new team every season...and it's not too far to think that they saw Toure as a big part of that. He is viewed as a unique talent with unique qualities.

They may have learned from other teams that have not consistently benefited from frequent and significant roster fluctuations.

It's easy to think "well, they're City...they should just go get someone new"...but I don't think that's really their overall MO. They are established now, and I would expect them to tinker for several years, rather than overhaul...unless disaster strikes or a new Mourinho-esque manager comes in and wants a facelift.
                    Australian Rules Football...just sayin'

I love the moment of panic on the little kids' faces when the Champions League anthem ends.

Are the ESPN2 commentators actually on-location in Madrid? The guy from ESPN FC is doing color commentary, so I'm wondering ...

If Basel go up 1-0, I predict a Balotelli red card.
