Roma are thoroughly overrated. If Man City fail to get out of the group, they should be embarrassed.

I wouldn't call them overrated. They've been playing really well lately.Comment

Roma aren't overrated at all, Bayern just played one of the best first halves of soccer we've seen. City should be embarrassed though, a team with players like that should be looking to make the finals not constantly struggling to get out of the group stages.
Also holy crap 40 goals in 8 matches today.Comment

What's crazy is that they're missing one of the more versatile players in Javi Martinez and a top 5 player in the world last year in Ribery. They are scary good.Comment

Yeah, I don't get that assessment of Bayern either. They're going to win their league in March again. dub, are you saying that because they had a bad semifinal last year in this competition? Keep in mind the side they butted up against there. Don't like Pep as a manager? Just trying to understand why you think they're miles behind.Comment

Re: 2014-2015 UEFA Champions League Thread
I'm a bit on the fence.
The Heynckes team, using the 4-2-3-1 was definitely faster, more direct and aggressive in their approach than the Pep version. And the Pig/Martinez double pivot was an absolute monster in the treble season.
Heynckes team was much more solid defensively. Pep likes to play a super high line, to create turn-overs in the opponents end. That's why Neuer has been challenged a lot more when things go awry.
But, they have scored 13 goals in their last two games. Bayern are definitely starting to find their mojo!Comment

No, Bayern are a great team, but they aren't the dominant, clear best team in the world they were a few years back. It's more a comment on Roma. When you get obliterated like that, by a team that CSKA Moscow barely lost to (1-0), I think you still have a ways to go to prove yourself.Comment

The commentator yesterday had a great line. Something like "Bayern has left Rome in ruins".
I keep forgetting that games are on espn3 nowComment
