That was being reported. They knew they needed to move on, but felt like they had no options. Once Stöger was sacked that gave them an option, I guess.

There are also now some reports that Nagelsmann will be taking over at Dortmund next season. Perhaps Tuchel heading to Bayern at the same time?

Six Premier League managers fired before Christmas. Seems crazy to me.

Swansea is totally going to give up on thinking out of the box and appoint Pulis.

What's everyone's thoughts on this? I feel like he did the best with what he was given, and it seems the decision makers at Swansea have not done any manager any favors in the last few years.

I'm honestly torn on this, on one hand it's very obvious that things weren't working with him, lowest goals, lowest shots on target, etc. They lost their best player in Sigurdsson and did not replace him with anyone even close to his level. Tammy Abraham was arguably his best signing, but that's not something that's going to help the long-term future of this club.

On the other hand, stability is vitally important to the success of a club, Swansea has had new owners, a few new managers, and new faces in and out of the club recently which has led to this. What they well and truly need is a vision, a manager who fits that vision and a board/ownership group that will stick with that vision. It might involve being relegated at some point but at the moment, it won't be as catastrophic as it is for a club like Sunderland, which continued on in this motion of a revolving door at the bottom of the PL for a number of years. I don't think the Swansea supporters are terribly demanding, so even a few years of restructuring the club around a foundation will go a long way.

Look at a club like Watford. Ultimately they've also been churning managers, but they have a very clear plan in place, and they've had a fair amount of stability at their club in terms of players. Their main goal is to stay in the Premier League and so far they've been very successful because they've stuck to a plan. To anyone with a set of eyes it's clear that a few of these clubs have no plan other than following whatever flavor-of-the-week managerial style they're going with.

Big difference between Swansea and Watford though.

Watford has good owners that have a clear plan and know what they are doing generally. Swansea's new owners are American, and their is all sorts of shady stuff going on in the background and their new owners have turned out to be a front for a bunch of hedge fund managers.

So basically Swansea is pretty unlikely to develop a plan that doesn't involve milking it for as much money as possible, mild money laundering, and then stripping all assets before eventually selling for a small profit.

They are most definitely in the Sunderland category.

Definitely wasn't aware of the shady dealings of the owners, shame for Swansea to get done like this then. For the new owners then, I hope they are actually able to bring some viable stability to the club.

Yeah I wish them the best, but I just don't think it will end well.

I believe some of the group are part of the same group that own DC United, which definitely doesn't bode well for Swansea.

Swansea considering Frank de Boer. Just go down now.

Frank de Boer is one of a number of managerial candidates under consideration by the Swansea board to replace Paul Clement, who was sacked on Wednesday night.

I think de Boer is a good hire for them, if they actually give him time. de Boer is a guy with a system that players have to buy into, and the ownership have to buy into. I refuse to make any concrete judgements on him after 14 games at Inter and 5 at Crystal Palace. Inter's poor ownership, and ownership change sealed his fate before he could really get off the ground, and while Palace didn't look great, 5 games is a laughable sample size, especially when you could see that some of the players were finally starting to buy into the system that he runs. I don't know if he's perfect for Swansea, and I don't know if he'd be able to keep them up based on their current form and players, but long-term I think he'd be a viable solution given the time and the resources(side note: he won't get them based on what Brahv has said).

Either way I think it's unfair and shortsighted to label de Boer as a failure or poor hire.

I think hes going to go back to Ajax. That job just opened up. They'd love to have him back.

                              100% agree.

Also, the funny thing is that Palace under de Boer probably played the most "actual football" I've seen them play. The goals weren't there because it's hard to attack when you've got almost no players that even fit the system, but they were still sort of doing it. The football was there, Palace just needed to spend like ANY money at all to get their brand new manager some of the players he needs.

Another thing worth noting, Palace's "revival" under Hodgson also happens to coincide with Zaha and Sakho coming back. Honestly it's a bit of a joke Hodgson being praised so much for their "turnaround" considering they were 4 games in and Zaha is literally carrying the entire Palace team single-handedly right now. They don't score at all if Zaha isn't involved, and Sakho is the only Palace defender that comes close to fitting de Boer's system.
