Re: The Sack Race aka Official Management Carousel Thread

Watford have sacked Marco Silva blaming Everton's approach for the Portuguese in November as the "catalyst for this decision".

The Hornets have won one of their last 11 top-flight games and are 10th in the Premier League.

A Watford statement said they were "convinced the appointment of Silva" last summer "was the right one".

And, without "the unwarranted approach" they would have "continued to prosper under his leadership".

    Absolutely ridiculous decision.

Strangest sacking so far, i rate Silva pretty highly. Giving him 1/2 a season is a joke though. Unless he admitted that the approach is affecting him.

If it was clear he had lost focus and interest in the Watford job (and frankly the results themselves might show that) then it was the right decision. If he doesn't want to be there, he shouldn't be there and the club did him a favor.

If it was down only to results, he should've definitely been giving more time.

I actually just saw their results, and I don't really think Watford were in the wrong in either scenario here. I think they were right to fight to keep him when Everton approached, and winning one of the last eleven, I can't argue with the choice to fire him. Wonder if he'll end up at Soton after Pellegrino gets the sack tomorrow morning.

Watford is more ambitious than most of the other mid table teams. They have goals of competing to eventually become an EL regular.

Their manager appointments reflect this really. They are often risky, but you have to take risks if you want to be more than just a forever mid table club playing hoof ball and being thrilled with their 45 points per season.

They’ve got pretty good owners and a clear plan, they just need a manager they can rely on to implement it.

They should try to bring a non-scotsman in. McLeish isn’t gonna change much I feel.

They did try to hire the Northern Irish manager, but he said no. The only time they hired a non-Scot it was a complete disaster with Berti Vogts. I think they're still scarred. And it'll be a cold day in hell before they hire an Englishman!

To be fair, the English options aren't much better.

                        They should have called Kilnsmann.

Waited too long honestly. They’ve been horrendous the whole time he’s been in charge.

I'm just wondering how much longer Chris Coleman has at Sunderland. They're looking like they're going down to League 1 on their first try. He went from the Euro semifinals to one result away from a WC qualifying playoff, and only 4 points from winning the group... To resigning to take a job at a toxic club. He could've had that Wales job forever. Now he'd have to usurp a Wales legend (though that could easily end up being a disaster)
